That's fair.

Dash, I loved your posts on your Imagineering Toybox. I think they're the perfect starting points for our new park. Quoting them over for everyone to read:

I wonder if we could go with a more Magic Kingdom "hub and spoke" formula for this Studios park, with traditional lands split by genre and setting, rather than the usual approach of copy-pasting the worlds from IPs into reality.
Thank you!

Yeah, while it would be a more direct copy of the "hub and spoke" format, it's a classic theme park format for a reason. It's also one that could really reinforce that original "Ride the Movies" idea if we start the park with that Hollywood Backlot area, walking deeper among the soundstages before entering these worlds of movies and TV.

Another idea: spaghetti western land. They're not too popular now but were once a staple of the film industry. For more modern IP... perhaps a Bounty Law stunt show?
Oh, that is a neat idea!

As for thinking up these lands, it might not be bad if we list some ideas for genres and settings to start that could help to inspire potential lands. From there, we can chisel it down into what offers a good variety of options for our Blue Sky Universal Studios.

For instance, some ideas just from my earliest musings are:
  • Backlot
  • New York City
  • Sci-Fi
  • Horror
  • Family Animation
We've also got your mention of spaghetti westerns, and a desert would make for a good setting in terms of adventure fare.

This might be controversial, but I could see Universal having a manga/anime-inspired area. Maybe in their core park, or even in a second gate instead. Manga and anime have grown into a bigger presence for Western audiences, and they've already had a little history on that front courtesy of USJ having the "Cool Japan" event in recent years.
Maid Sama?!?!

Maid Sama?!?!
I confess I'm not that familiar with Maid Sama.

Realistically, I think an anime area would probably be done using Shonen Jump properties, such as Dragon Ball Z, One Piece, and My Hero Academia (to give some examples of potential IPs). That said, this is a Blue Sky idea, so if it's not too unrealistic, I could see some fun options outside of Shonen Jump that could work and make it more of a general anime showcase, like Sailor Moon or Lupin III.

From what I know they’re the evil ones so given that it’s written by y’know probably, also my problems with the franchise aren’t all because of it’s creator
I mean some of them are evil but there’s good ones too. I was more so referencing that they’re the “house of the cunning” who use mind games and tricks to accomplish their goals.

I think that suits you well... a team good Slytherin!

So I must admit, I'm a bit clueless when it comes to anime. I know Studio Ghibli and that's it. But I agree that it should appear in our resort somehow. It's becoming increasingly prevalent among Western audiences, and if Despicable Me gets a land, anime more than deserves it.

But actually, anime would be super unique. And Universal Studios Japan has been making anime attractions for a while, so there's a precedent for it as well.
