    What did you do?

Rested today. Docs orders after running for 500 miles straight, 9 days up and down a mountain. Tendonitis in right leg. On antibiotics just in case of cellulitis, which a couple other racers got. With my nutrition in place and muscle recovery spot on I only lost about 5-6 pounds, and no muscle...

    What did you do?

Sorry I have been off the grid lately. My training for the 500 mile has been emotionally and physically exhausting. Completely different training this time around, which has my anxiety level on high. Also, knowing the pain I am about to put myself in is terrifying. Worked on a lot of mental...

    What did you do?

Just under 30 miles. Lots of climbing, hand over hand, technical descents, trudging through mud and bushwhacking through pickers. No one will kick your for you ;-)

    What did you do?

An ultra without mud or rocks is like that one family member you're embarrassed to be related to lol. But seriously, it has to have mud and rocks and heart pounding elevation and quad detroying descents ;-)

    What did you do?

@joel_maxwell, once again, I just passed on the info that I learned from my mistakes and my experiences: you did all the hard work ;-) That sub 10 will be with you always. Great job brother. Now for a hundy... And yes, our ultra community is small. We all know each other or know the names. And...

    What did you do?

Took 7th place in 10:50 at Mt. Tammany: a 38-40 mile mountain run with a total of 12,000 ft of climbing on jagged rocks and a healthy amount of ice and snow. Lots of pain, ankle twists, and heart rate spiking climbs. With my finisher rock and freshly baked blueberry pie Tradition: push ups...

    What did you do?

Training: scarffed down French toast and home fries then ran 33 miles immediately after. Gotta eat to run 500 miles straight ;-)

    What did you do?

McNaughton 500 training: 2.5 hours of sleep in the last 58 hours now. Ran semi-technical trails in 20 degrees with a -4 degree wind chill. Started falling asleep on the trail and then popped some military grade awake gum. Felt like Sonic the Hedgehog, but couldn't find any gold coins. (and...

    What did you do?

20 miles of speed work this morning in 4 degree temps. Technical trails and hills yesterday. Running 20-30 milers every/every other day. Super technical training race coming up in a couple of weeks. Only 40 miles but it beats up the legs and feet pretty good
  15. Donald Duck

    What did you do?

I've been off the grid. Training hard and trying to keep focused. I hope everyone is doing well! @fmingo36 - congratulations!! DINNER, SOON... Running through snow and ice. Nothing matters but finishing something you started... 500 miler approaching in 79 days...

    What did you do?

Protein after 4-6 hours during an ultra. Responded to your email, so let's talk ;-) Training: put yourself in misery...
  17. Donald Duck

    What did you do?

Beer. Beer will make me stop ;-) The 500 mile has no aid stations. No volunteers. Alone. For days. Mental training is more important in this instance.
  18. Donald Duck

    What did you do?

Joel, I usually skip aid stations unless I need to refill water. When I do "stop" I take 2 mins max, but i don't wait until that 2 mins is up. Quickly get my s--t together, and begin to walk/shuffle out with a crew person taking any rubbish, handing off items, etc... Keep time to 2 mins MAX. and...
  19. Donald Duck

    What did you do?

3 hours running on jagged ice, up and down steep hills. Gorgeous out today.

    What did you do?

We're having a storm system up here. Eating sand into a 35+ mph head-wind in freezing rain. No excuses.
