Today was my last tempo run before my half on Sunday - Hal Higdon has a very conservative week lined up for me.

32 min tempo w/ 1.60 m @ 8:04. I slowed down my tempo so I could hit the biggest/baddest hill in the park which will be in the half this weekend. I just wanted to prove it to myself that I can hit that hill faster than my race pace and not fall over dead.

welcome Dan, I am sure we will all have lots of questions for you, bethram keep an eye on that knee, don't abuse it like I did. Glad to see everyone is doing well, at least our weather up here has been crappy as it makes it easier to bear not running. I go to physio tonight and then I will know how much longer I will be laid up.

Got up at 0430 to get 5 miles in. Perfect morning, 60F right after an all-night rain. The frogs were going insane at the lake I run by. Never heard them that loud. They were even out in the street and I had to dodge them. Those might have been toads. Not sure. Some cold air coming back tonight.

I'm much better now :) I've worked out the stiffness and my chiropractor adjusted it this afternoon. I'm going to get adjusted again the day before the marathon so it should be in proper working order for the race. Thanks for thinking of me!

So. I'm totally new to running. I'm signed up for the W&D 1/2 with my crazy $&@ assistant that is 14 years my junior. I'm also a dance teacher. I feel I'm "fit" per say but not in the running way!

I bought my shoes today! I also did day one of a Couch to 5 k challenge and I didn't die. Lol

I'll run a 5k and then start training for the 1/2 from there. I wanted to get a jump start on the South Texas heat.

My first physiotherapy session was last night. She told me," you realize I'm going to make you hurt tonight" I told her I was a runner, just do it. Anyway, it did hurt and my knee almost collapsed. Anyway, she says it is not my hamstring but still the same injury that had caused the swelling in the knee in the first place. The pain I had that radiated out from under my knee is actually a lateral meniscus injury. To be honest I would much rather the hamstring. I am not allowed to do any pivoting or lifting/quick turning etc. Nothing that would twist the knee, she says despite how long it has been and that the swelling is down, it is still an acute injury, so I don't go back to crutches but I do go back to a brace to give it some extra support. She says she does not know how long it will take to heal it up completely but her best guess based on the healing of others is 8 to 12 weeks. She said maybe I will be the rock star that does everything I am told and heal it faster, I told her I plan on being the rock star. She says at some point she will allow me to do a stationary bike or some such so I can build up a bit without harming the knee.

Another south Texan? :) I told my cousin to train for a 10K in Mission so we can get a decent corral.

Welcome back from your trip, and good luck Sunday.

Welcome to the Disney running forum. You will find a wealth of information and support here so jump right in!

I've been out of pocket the past 2 days at a Continuing Legal Ed seminar. Hope to run later.

@Mr mom hang in there!

McNaughton 500 training:

2.5 hours of sleep in the last 58 hours now.

Ran semi-technical trails in 20 degrees with a -4 degree wind chill. Started falling asleep on the trail and then popped some military grade awake gum. Felt like Sonic the Hedgehog, but couldn't find any gold coins. (and this was after a leg workout at the gym...)

Run, bushwhacked and hill repeats yesterday.

No running for me but taught my first Adult yoga class tonight. Even though my certification is for children's yoga, I was asked to start a class for adults by my daughter's dance instructor. I taught it as a gentle yoga focusing on breathing, stretching and of course, relaxation. It went really well and they asked me back for another 6 weeks.:)
