What did you do?

As depressing as checking in on everyone is and will be I will check in regularly anyway. Now that being said I will be laid up for a while. I am not allowed to even put weight on the knee for at least 10 days and then checked again. I have a big build up of fluid on the knee that has to decrease on it's own. The good news is that there is no long term damage but I have been warned that if I don't follow the regime set out for me I could do permanent damage and that would end the running altogether. The meniscus is depressed slightly but not a real problem and everything else appears as it should. ( I got to see the x rays myself). Be warned folks when your knee swells, take note and don't keep running on it anyway, or you too could end up like me. This sucks so bad it is disgusting.

Wow-that stinks! As hard as it is, take the time to let it heal--you definitely do not want to do permanent damage.

HI Guys! (Boy have I missed you!)
I haven't been posting because I haven't run since November but training for the W& D 1/2 starts soon! Honestly glad I haven't needed to train for anything--this winter has been brutal as Jill, Kristy and Nick can attest.
I have been very busy with my new business: OMazing Kidz Yoga. It's going really well!
Teaching weekly classes, private lessons, birthday parties, parent/child classes and more. (check out my website www.omazingkidzyoga.com or facebook page)
I have to say I am absolutely loving teaching yoga to children but I'm looking forward to getting my sneakers on and start running again.

GREAT JOB JOEL!!! So proud of you!!! Love to hear about all my friend's accomplishments!!!
Thanks Coryna!

OMG... way to go yourself. Man I wish we lived close. My 2 girls would be in your class in a heartbeat. Congrats on taking that scary plunge into your own business. Talk about "love to hear about my friend's accomplishments"

3 miles on the Arroyo trail here in south Texas. Beautiful 60 degrees. Flying back to Georgia Saturday to go back to work. Bleh.

10 miles Saturday and 10 Sunday night. Always looking to try and incorporate situations into my Sunday night runs, I had a huge dinner before. Salmon filet, large potato, green beans and a large glass of milk, then went and ran in 60+ temps. It was muggy. WOAH, glad I got the experience of doing 10 on a super full stomach and tested my ability to hold down milk. Not that I would ever drink milk during an ultra, but you never know what will upset or test your stomach.

Made it through, but deadgum, I dont think there was 5 minutes between dinner table and out the door.

Last HUGE week before taper.

Did 9 miles yesterday back on my home weekend route. Not a bad run considering all the garbage I ate on vacation (but it was so good). Was actually looking forward to going back on the diet. But not looking forward to cold mornings again. Oh well, layers.

well, today is the day I was supposed to run my first half marathon. Ugh, maybe next year

So sorry Paul.

Joel, that sounds like one delicious dinner and one miserable post-dinner full-stomach run!

(BTW, I just finished two slices of pizza and I'm about to change and jump on the TM for 4 miles myself.)

Edit: Make that 4.5 miles. Felt like going a bit longer once I got started!

Protein after 4-6 hours during an ultra. Responded to your email, so let's talk ;-)
Training: put yourself in misery...
