I never realized how close the resort is to the Magic Kingdom. From everything I've read about it, the reaction has always been "it's too out of the way and not on the monorail line" but it seems like such a short drive from the Polynesian/Grand Floridian. Correct, I've seen some pictures of the Shades of Green resort, I'm not sure how much of a difference design wise it is to when it was the Disney Inn, and the Golf Resort before it. So much change lol

Are we looking at the same store? It's simple yes, but it still has theming elements ... Maybe it doesn't take much to please me, but I really don't think we should be complaining about this little pop up shop, in a land that many used to complain about because there was no store.

The one main benefit is without the fast passes, you’d always be moving in the line. Whether or not wait times are the same (which I believe they would be lowered but it’s possible there’d be no change), there would be no point where the stand by guests would have to stop moving to let x-amount...

The shop hasn’t been updated in years, I was in there during my December 2018 and there were posters that read coming soon from the early 2000’s ... It’s time for a change. The store is always empty anyway.

Stay at the Park Vue Inn. Literally the closest hotel to either park (even closer than the onsite ones). Nothing super fancy, but the convenience alone is worth it. You also won’t have to give an arm and a leg to afford to stay there.
