Viewing World of Color Without Purchasing the Meal?

Last summer, on our trip to the Disneyland Resort, we paid the boxed lunch "tax" in order to "reserve" a tiny strip of pavement to which we clung for 3 straight hours, while the sun went down and the Paradise Pier section of the park closed down, to see the then-brand-spankin' new World of Color...

    40th Anniversary Items in Parks???

Disney - I would have loved that 40th Anniversary logo polo shirt, if you had just stopped with the embroidery on the front. I don't need the print on the back. Several times at the parks lately, I've just passed up buying adult park themed merchandise because it's been over-designed. Just...

DLR Pirates of the Caribbean Ride Vid

I'll definitely give you Indy - but that was still 15 years ago for Disney properties in the U.S. Everything that I've seen so far makes Radiator Springs Racers look like EPCOT's Test Track given a Pixar make-over.

DLR Pirates of the Caribbean Ride Vid

I could NOT agree MORE. When, if ever, will we get a dark ride that even approaches the level of creativity and art that went into both Pirates and the Mansion. Glorified ride-throughs of video game screens (TSM) or IMAX nature films (Soarin') just don't even come close.

What scenes in GMR should be kept?

What needs to go/be updated at the Alien scene is the horrendously silly Sigourney Weaver animatronic. She doesn't look scared. She looks epileptic. And is it just me or is the Casablance scene WAY, WAY SCARIER than the Alien scene? There's something so ominous and foreboding about that...

If you had to skip one park on your trip, which would it be?

All of the theming in the world cannot disguise the fact that Animal Kingdom is largely an empty park. Once you do Everest, and maybe TTBAB and Dinosaur, your "experience" is over. And no, I don't count that horrid safari cart zip through zoo thing as an attraction. After waiting one day...

Would You Support Unique Main Street USA Shops if Staffed by Third Party Vendors?

That would be a big NO on the question posed - for precisely the reason brought up in this quote. It's bad enough that literally every shopping district in the U.S. is a homogenized mess. Go to any mall in the country and you get the same 20-25 big name chain stores. And let's not even...

Harry Potter is arriving sooner than expected. What does this mean for WDW?

Really? 'Cuz last I checked "Indiana Jones and the Temple of the Forbidden Eye" wasn't located at IOA, but at Disneyland, Anaheim, CA.

    Virgin Megastore Replacement

I guess it would be too much to hope that Amoeba Records might open an East Coast branch of their independent music shop on the site. *kicks dirt & hates on what the internet has done to the music industry*

Rumors that never came to be, but that would have been great

The "Nightmare Before Christmas" dark ride. Dammit. *kicks ground dejectedly*

    Disneyland Park Priority Seating

:lookaroun Eeek. Why do you think July 17, in particular, could potentially draw crowds to Disneyland like never before? I'm, once again, scheduled to be at Disneyland July 19-21. Is there something happening in Anaheim that I should know about?

Buy 3 get 2 nights free at Disneyland through September!

What if you only need a 4 night stay? I'm planning on booking 4 nights at the Anaheim Ho-Jo's - arriving late on a Saturday night and leaving the following Wednesday morning. We had only planned on purchasing a 3-day pass. Would it be possible to book a 3-day pass and with this promotion...

    Last minute tips

No matter how tired your feet are. No matter how enticing it might look almost immediately outside the entrance of the Disneyland Park. No matter how much your children might whine. DO NOT - I REPEAT - DO NOT EAT AT CAPTAIN KIDD'S!! :lookaroun This little tip CANNOT be stressed enough.

what attractions bored you as a kid?

Definitely the Tomorrowland Speedway. A "Cars" makeover at this point would only make it worse.

    Improving Downtown Disney!

Just keep the Virgin MegaStore in some fashion. Not necessarily "Virgin" the brand, but an anchoring store where regular folks can still buy and peruse PHYSICAL MEDIA. Dammit.

Spielberg Won't Be Involved in the Parks

Modern day Spielberg isn't someone I'd want to be associated with a Disney park anyway. Did anyone actually see that horrid 4th Indiana Jones film? Nuking the fridge, indeed.

WDWMAGIC Meet at Disneyland July 17, 2009

It's too bad the "meet" couldn't be a day or two later. I'll be in Disneyland July 19-21, 2009 - our (now) annual pre-San Diego ComiCon pilgrimage. Here's hoping DCA will be at least partially open at that time.

    Ride Info Needed

Unless you absolutely, positively cannot live without riding Nemo, I'd say skip it altogether. We waited nearly 1 and a half hours for the ride - after getting there "first thing" in the morning immediately after the gates opened - and it just was not worth the time or effort. Honestly, I...

Your idea for the next WDW restaurant?????

A branch of these restaurants: http://www.jekyllandhydeclub.com/home.htm Chicago had one for a time, but it closed due to horrible mismanagement. I swear that the Mask Room at the now defunct Adventurer's Club was based on the animatronic bookcases / talking pictures of Jekyll and Hyde's.
