Virgin Megastore Replacement

No offense, but what is the least bit interesting about getting to see an exibit full of another human being's dresses?

About as interesting to me as walking through the dress dept at my local department store. Seems like a lot of space for a handful of dresses, doesn't it?

Rumor - Virgin Mega Store To be Replaced by Exhibition Of Princess Diana's Gowns

If you loved Princess Diana's style and glamour, you'll love this. A collection of the late princess's dresses will be on display in the spot that once held the Virgin Mega Store at Downtown Disney West Side. The display will be on the first floor. Rumor has it that a contract was signed this past week between Disney and Maureen Rorech Dunkel, the lady who bought 14 of Princess Diana's gowns a few weeks before the princess died in a car wreck in August 1997. Dunkel created The People's Princess Charitable Foundation after the crash. The shoes of Imelda Marcos will be featured on the second level.

Wow. That's random...and makes umm...No sense at all? :lookaroun:lol:

This is what Disney would but in a prime real estate location....used clothes!

Why is there no museum or exhibit in all of DTD dedicated to Walt or the history of the Walt Disney World Resort.

Well, there is One Man's Dream.....

But honestly, I can see space in DTD made into a museum, with half of it permanent display of Disneyana (Walt, WDW history, etc), and the other half used as a museum/gallery with rotating exhibits, not necessarily Disney-related.

I guess it would be too much to hope that Amoeba Records might open an East Coast branch of their independent music shop on the site.

*kicks dirt & hates on what the internet has done to the music industry*

Maybe if they ever close One Mans Dream. They could put it in downtown Disney. I for one see no need for any exhibition like this.. Why not lease out the space to the People at the Titanic Museum...

Actually, according to what I read (I believe in the Unofficial Guide), One Man's Dream will be gone after this year. Personally, that es me off as I think it's a great tribute to Walt. Of course, the way Disney thinks these days, my guess is it'll be turned into "One Girl's Dream: A tribute to Hanna Montana".

I think that this is a great addition! A showcase of clothing that nobody can buy. You can stare at it as if you've paid admission to the world's smallest, most one-dimensional museum. I've booked four nights at the Grand Floridian for my visit. I'm not even going to the parks. I'm just going there. I'm going to take pictures with all of the garments each day and then go back to the resort and cry myself to sleep out of self-loathing.

I call shenanigans...I hope to God I am right...

well I for one would have absolutely no desire to see either one of these attractions BUT Princess Diana is still a huge figure and one of the most populare icons of the last 30 years. Somehow she has become almost par to icons like James Dean, Marilyn Monroe and almost Elvis. I can somehow see that this would draw some people.

And if it's for a charity, well, why complain?

Of course we still need something permenent and more substantial for that giant empty beheamoth of a storefront.

:hurl::hurl::hurl: That would be lame.

If they were doing something like this, it should be a full museum with a history of Walt Disney World exhibit chronicling the whole time WDW has been open!
