    Portabello yacht club

Ate there once a little over two years ago. I rather enjoyed the food (fairly typical Italian menu) and the look of the resturant (really liked the colorful murals on the ceiling). However, service was uninspiring; not up to par with many of the other top tier restaurants at WDW. If you are...

    parking

Two of my reasons for driving my own car on property: 1. We often stay at the Yacht Club. Bus ride to AK has several stops and just takes a long time. Thus, we drive ourselves to AK and believe that it is easier and faster. We walk to Epcot and boat/walk to MGM, which are definitely...

    Toontown is Pitiful

Never been to the DL Toontown, so have no basis to compare, but I don't see what is so wrong with the WDW Toontown. My kids love touring Mickey's and Minnie's houses, the Barnstormer is a fun coaster for kids (although short) and it is a reliable place to find the characters, when that is what...

Lies, Lies, Oh Stop The Lies!

We were at WDW from Feb 12 - 18 (not the exact dates asked about, but close) and visited Epcot for a portion of every day. I am not aware that Epcot as a whole or Mission Space in particular clsoed at any time during that week (although Test Track did while I was waiting in the FP line -...

    Your Favorite Restroom!!!

This is my favorite as well. We usually stay at YC and spend lots of time in Epcot, so we are frequently entering and exiting the park through the International Gateway. I love that whole area there and that bathroom gets my vote.

animal kingdom lodge tips and reviews please :)

One more plug for Jiko. We've tried all the high end restaurants at WDW multiple times (except V&A) and Jiko is without a doubt our favorite. On our recent trip, Jiko was once again the best meal of the trip. Great wine list (all South African wines) and just a beautiful restaurant.

animal kingdom lodge tips and reviews please :)

Concierge service at AKL is great and worth the extra money. They do a great job of contacting you ahead of the trip to help make arrangements (better than the Yacht Club which I also have experience). The AKL concierge lounge is awesome; it's up on the sixth floor and overlooks the lobby and...

    Valet Parking???

One more thing about valet parking - the $6/day applies no matter how many resorts you valet at in one day. Thus, for example, if you stay at the Yacht Club and then drive your car to the Grand Floridian for dinner or something and valet at both places, there is only one $6 charge. I wonder...

    WL Music

I agree. We were at WDW last week and went to Artist Point one night for dinner - while we were waiting for the valet to bring the car around. the music playing in the lobby was definitely from Last of the Mohicans. Great stuff!

    Akl

I certainly agree with this. In fact, we have visited AKL twice, both times on the concierge level. When we checked in for our second trip, the staff had left a "welcome back" present to us of a CD of African music, which I now listen to all the time. It's not the same music that is played in...

    Akl

AKL is a great hotel. It is just beautiful, with wonderful theming, fine restaurants and lounges and a very nice pool. Definitely get a savannah room if that is in the budget, because it is great to sit out on your balcony and watch the animals. Boma is pretty good, but Jiko is better...

    ESPN Club opening time ?

Don't know for sure, but guessing late morning (11:00?). It's not open for breakfast, that much I do know. Would not expect Sunday hours to be different than any other day.

How long does it take for concierge services to return phone call?

They should certainly return calls sooner than that. Usually when I have called the Yacht Club concierge, I will get a return phone call within a few hours, or a day at most. I would definitely try management at the hotel to get a return phone call. If possible, send them an e-mail...

What happens to PS's if conceirge is canceled?

Since the PS's the concierge makes will be made in your name, I would not think they get canceled simply because the concierge reservation is canceled. However, the concierge has the same limitations as the rest of us regarding making PS's ahead of time (e.g., they don't get to bypass the 90...

    Le Cellier information/

Re: anniversary Decent - yes Relaxing - somewhat Dark - again, somewhat (but less San Angel Inn) Romantic - again, somewhat. It's a popular and crowded, sit down restaurant inside Epcot. Other than Bistro de Paris (the upstairs, fancier restaurant at the France pavillion), all the sit...

    PS ? when staying concierge

Call the concierge and ask them to do it for you. We always stay concierge and I do believe that they may be able to arrange some PS for you that may otherwise be unavailable on this short notice. Since a PS is not a reservation per se, but rather entitles you to the next available table for...

    Occupancy Question

"Not the most honest thing"? That is a bit of an understatement. Actively trying to circumvent the rules and deceive Disney is simply a dishonest thing. As another poster has mentioned, these limits are for safety persons, not so Disney can force families into two rooms and make more money...

    Best Hotel

Budget issues aside, favorite hotel is Yacht Club. Location (so close Epcot and MGM and Boardwalk, with relatively short bus rides to other parks) and pool cannot be beat. Also love Animal Kingdom Lodge - wonderful theming - but the location (with longer bus rides and nothing in walking...

    That uncontrolable happiness

The travel time sounds miserable, but to stay for 4 weeks! That would be fabulous!! Door - to - door from Michigan is about 7 hour travel time, which I was complaining about earlier today. You have helped me put that in perspective.
