Hey everyone! Me and my family are plpanning a trip to WDW for next Christmas, and I was wondering what hotel is the best. I was thinking the Wilderness Lodge(cuz I've heard that's the best, and I've never stayed there), but I wanted some expert opinions. Thanks!

We have stayed at the Contemporary, Polynesian & The Wilderness Lodge . Our Favorite by far is the Wilderness Lodge. You just can't beat the atmosphere.

I think best depends on your taste. Also budget will come into play. There is a WIDE swing in prices from top to bottom.

Forgot to mention my favorite. The Polynesian. I just can't afford it.

Budget issues aside, favorite hotel is Yacht Club. Location (so close Epcot and MGM and Boardwalk, with relatively short bus rides to other parks) and pool cannot be beat.

Also love Animal Kingdom Lodge - wonderful theming - but the location (with longer bus rides and nothing in walking distance) puts me off a bit.

I love the Boardwalk, you just cant beat its location. I've never stayed at Animal Kindgom Lodge but we did hang out there a bit on my last trip. It was a blast with one of the best atmospheres I've ever experienced.

I have never stayed at any Disney hotel I didn't like, however I have been fortunate enough to stay at all deluxe resorts too. I liked them all so much that I don't even have a favorite. My most recent trips have been at Wilderness Lodge (loved it), Yacht Club (loved it), and the Dolphin (least favorite). It's been a long time since I was at the Dolphin, but it just didn't really have a theme.

As you can tell, you aren't going to get a straight answer from anyone here because it's just an opinion. But, as far as Deluxe hotels go, you'll love Wilderness, Yacht, Polynesian, & Contemporary. I know I did!

My Favorites are the Yacht and Beach (best pool ever) and the Boardwalk, Villas more specifically. That resort "complex" is one of the most entertaining spots on all of the property. Also, you can't beat the International Gateway to Epcot and the short walk or boat ride to MGM Studios.

Took a big step up from our usual All Star resort to stay a week at AKL last year (gotta love a 45% AP Discount!) and was totally blown away. Great themeing, and loved the animals right outside our room! I would highly recommend it to anyone. Also, we rather enjoyed the distance away from the rest of the resort, as it made the Lodge seem all that more secluded.

Wilderness Lodge!

We have stayed at the All Stars Sports, Coronado Springs and Wilderness Lodge. We all LOVED the Wilderness Lodge! The theming was just awe inspiring. One of my favorite memories of the lodge was getting up right at dawn and walking into the main lobby before anyone was awake. They have a deck that faces the lake on the 5th floor (?? I think). I grabbed my newspaper and sat outside watching the sun come up. It was breathtaking!

The only negative was not really with the hotel itself....We went in the summer and the amount of kids running thru hallways and over by the Roaring Forks was huge! There were several times when I walked out of the Roaring Forks with a meal on a tray and was almost broadsided by kids running around. OH! One other thing....laundry room was VERY small....only had 4-5 washers for the entire complex.....Didn't enjoy doing laundry at 1:00am.....

Coronado theming was very good, the fountains light up at night which made evening strolls very romantic...BUT the cast members were not very friendly. We also did not like the food court - had to pay extra for service (??).....

All Stars : let's just say that it is a value resort...nothing much to talk about...

No matter when you go to the WL the kids will be running around...it just invites itself to it. I know what you mean, though, I've gotten run over a few times.

AKL

My wife and I stayed at the AKL last October. We had a wonderful time and the theme of the hotel is very well done with a great atmosphere being set from the time you get there until you leave. We stayed at Wilderness Lodge in October of 98 and had a great time, but on our last trip we were disappointed in the bus service. We had gone to Artist Pointe for dinner and decided to go to Pleasure Island as well. We rode the bus from Animal Kingdom Lodge to the Magic Kingdom and then took the boat over to the Wilderness Lodge. (So far very cool.) After dinner we waited 15 minutes or more for the next bus to Pleasure Island and then we had to go through Fort Wilderness before we even started toward Pleasure Island. Overall it took us about 30 minutes or more to get to our destination.

We were spoiled by not sharing a bus route at the AKL. Granted it is further away, but I thought the trip back to AKL from Pleasure Island at the end of the night went much faster than our trip from the Wilderness Lodge which is much closer.

I will have to go with the crowd and also recommend Wilderness Lodge. The theme of the resort is stornger than any other I have experienced! Definately wins the theming award!

Everyone (including myself) loves the Wilderness and AKL. But people often forget the moderates! Port Orleans is also great! The atmosphere is awesome, the bar piano player is a blast, and it's not as expensive!

On your trip, remember that if it's during the holidays, you'll be paying full price!

If you have the money, AKL or Wilderness, if you have a budget, Port Orleans!

Have Fun!

I've wanted to stay at Port Orleans, but I can't get the rest of the family to go along. :(

Beach Club....hands down. Location, atmosphere, and oh yes, the POOL!
Great rooms, great service and breath taking views...strolls on the sand...swinging in the swings on the beach....hanging by the pool, feel like a little Morocco for lunch?...just a short stroll to International gateway to satisfy that need!:sohappy:
