Can someone please explain how the valet parking works for me. We are staying at the GF and I know valet parking is 7$...I assume that is per day. So if I pull into the porte coche at 9:00am on a sunday and check out at 9:00am on tuesday is that 14$ or 21$ and what is the appropriate time to tip and normally how much. Thanks for all the help.

To the best of my knowledge, you only pay $7 for the guy to go park your car, and perhaps the $7 again for him to go get it. However, it may just be once and then you tip him accordingly. i don't think you'd pay per day, only per "activity". However, I could be wrong.

When we went to GF in Oct it was $7 a day. We did not leave during that time so we paid it at the end of the trip.

One thing though, you can park it yourself (they don't like to tell you that). And of course we did not know about the parking fee....oh, well. it was a nice trip so we didn't grumble.

We stayed at the GF over Thanksgiving and the cost for valet parking is $6.00 a day added to your room bill. You can take your car out as many times as you want. The standard tip for getting your car is $2.00. The self park lot is a long walk so the valet parking is worth the money!

OK, I'm by no means frugal when I am at the World. I always stay in a deluxe resort, never eat in the room and tip like crazy.

However, I have a hard time paying $6 or $7 a day to park my car especially since I will not need it after check in until we check out. It's like paying a car-sitting fee.

Needless to say, I park my own car.

I feel the exact same way. We stay at AKL, and the parking lot is not far away at all. That $6 a day plus the tips is just not worth it too me, and I never count pennies when I'm on vacation.

When we first started staying at the WL there was no fee for valet parking. Now its $6/day plus tips. Since we use our car we pay the tip as we go along. Since WDW is our one big vacation we don't mind paying for the valet parking.(esp at night after a long day). We usually call down & ask to have the car brought around. The windows are open & the AC is up to cool it down quickly. Gotta love those CMs. Thanks guys.

One more thing about valet parking - the $6/day applies no matter how many resorts you valet at in one day. Thus, for example, if you stay at the Yacht Club and then drive your car to the Grand Floridian for dinner or something and valet at both places, there is only one $6 charge.

I wonder about the $2 tip being the "standard" - I'd be interested in knowing where that notion came from.

$1-2 is the norm, depending on how far the valet lot is from the area, and the service and attitude of the valet, as well as if any suitcase lifting is involved. I've worked as a valet before at a private club, and that job was horrible... only the tips and the occasional exotic car made it worthwhile.
