That themes change and what is culturally relevant changes over time. The "Frontier" isn't as popular as a theme as it used to be

Again I am not in favor of this change but can accept that things will change and try to think more broadly about things vs just my view
And you picked a lousy example unless you’re interested in boosting negative stereotypes. Hong Kong was not happy that the announced, plussed up Frontierland was not built. The people who supposedly wouldn’t understand are the ones who wanted it and were mad that they didn’t get it. They then demanded that at least something in that vein be added to the park and entirely at Disney’s expense.

But the original plans for Hong Kong Disneyland's was to be very different to the original version, leaning less into the Wild West theme and more into the Wild nature theme
The only Frontierland to be all in on the Wild West is at Disneyland Paris. Even Westernland takes the broader approach seen at Disneyland and Magic Kingdom. Taming nature is a big part of the frontier ethos and mythos. The only thing in that blurb that sticks out as anachronistic is It’s Tough To Be A Bug. A haunted house in Frontierland wasn’t new. The river raft ride had its origins in Disney’s America as a frontier ride based on the Lewis and Clark Expedition.

Personally I'm just hoping the bridge that goes around the splashdown area on Bayou stays. It was always one of my favorite people-watching spots

I personally don't care for Frontierland a heck of a lot, and never did.
Love Splash, and love Big Thunder though.
Destroying the river and river boat is what kills me.
They could have incorporated the River Boat as part of the whole Tiana thing, and I'd be ok.

And it’s crazy beautiful - as is the entire park.
Oh, fond memories, I remember watching a wonderful Christmas stage show.
I saw Stryper perform there. Also, that Christmas show had Mickey and Minnie in bed together. Quite the scandal at the time!
