The worst Frontierland in the world??? The worst in the WORLD??? Idk what you are smoking. Up until 2019 it was widely agreed upon for being the best, and it was the one thing the Magic Kingdom had that was undisputedly better than Disneyland. Even now (with that tragedy in between Big Thunder and Adventureland) it’s still probably better than California and Hong Kong. But sure, when the work walls are up for this thing, it will be the worst Frontierland in the world, and it will likely remain that way.Don't be sorry for us. I've got faith that when its all said and done this will be good for Magic Kingdom. The worst Frontierland in the world has been in dire need of attention and upgrading for my entire lifetime. It, like most things in Magic Kingdom, is a downgraded version of what is done better in other castle parks around the world. It's not as beautiful as Paris', it's not as energetic and lively as Anaheim's and Tokyo's, and it's not as unique as Shanghai's and Hong Kong's. It's not the worst thing in the world to look at, but it lacks and has always lacked in comparison to the other examples around the world.
MK is the most visited park in the world, and I've long been tooting the horn that it needs to actually set itself apart from the other castle parks in ways that aren't just having the inferior versions of attractions but on a larger scale. It needs things that are unique to it, and the idea of going in and changing the lands to do that is not a poor one. The concept of a National Park interpretation of Frontierland is a smart one, and if executed correctly (and yes, I admit that's a big if), then it could instantly bump up from the bottom to near the top. MK needs to stop trying to do what the other parks are doing and just do MK. A completely unique interpretation of Frontierland that's not trapped in this frozen state it's been in since the 80s is the perfect opportunity for that.
I'm not completely sold on the IP attached to it yet but if what they build actually resembles that concept art and we actually get a truly unique, energetic, and nice looking National Park spin on the land, then MK's Frontierland may finally become an interesting place to be.
If you don’t count Dino-Rama closing and the announcement of the muppet’s end dateto be fair we are already 10% of the way through those five years and nothing has happened...
As far as we know, the fronts of the building you mentioned are going to stay as they are.Does anyone know if part of the plan for this new Frontierland includes redoing the fronts of some of the buildings that face the river to make them look more “wilderness”-y and less “old west”? It’ll feel so weird to have modern national park on one side and then old saloon vibes on the opposite side
Its probably in the plans to change most if not all of the fronts of the building in the cheapest way possible.Does anyone know if part of the plan for this new Frontierland includes redoing the fronts of some of the buildings that face the river to make them look more “wilderness”-y and less “old west”? Have you been to the entrance cities at the National parks? They look very much like what those building are, the entire stain of Gatlinburg is required to have "rustic" themed facades and West Yellowstone is very much western.Does anyone know if part of the plan for this new Frontierland includes redoing the fronts of some of the buildings that face the river to make them look more “wilderness”-y and less “old west”? I haven’t, I assumed it all looked like the wilderness lodgeHave you been to the entrance cities at the National parks? They look very much like what those building are, the entire stain of Gatlinburg is required to have "rustic" themed facades and West Yellowstone is very much western.
I’d still say Tomorrowland is the best land at MK over any other version. The worst Frontierland in the world??? The worst in the WORLD??? Idk what you are smoking. If only, the in park architecture was designed by some of the nation's best at the time. The great lodges are worth a tour on their own beside the natural beauty of the parks but the towns around them tend to be tourist traps which try to look rustic and the wild west to bring in the rubes so there is a contrast.I haven’t, I assumed it all looked like the wilderness lodge![]()
Yeah, it would be Galaxy's Edge, Toy Story Land, Arendelle, MARVEL Land, Encanto Land, Moana Land, and maybe a Pandora too. And each land would only have two or three attractions.if Disneyland was built from scratch now the lands chosen would be very different.
Yeah, that's a headscratcher. What does A Bug's Life have to do with the frontier? I can at least get the mindset behind Cars even if it's not very fitting, but A Bug's Life? The only thing in that blurb that sticks out as anachronistic is It’s Tough To Be A Bug.
I'm just remembering back at D23 when it was announced and quite literally no one clapped for it. Gotta wonder whether they even cared that it got such a lukewarm reception. I'm excited about big construction and active investment, saddened by the loss of the river, and hoping/praying/pleading that we get a half decent piece of concept art that helps show how this integrates with the rest of the park
Stallantis enters roomOther than the Dallas Mavericks, do we have an example of a company or organization that couldnt care less and are THIS out of touch with their core fans?
Doing something lame isn’t always better.I just don't understand why they couldn't do this:

His suggestion would be 100x better than what they're doing.Doing something lame isn’t always better.
Wait.. people thought it was better than Disneyland?? Since when? I've always felt that Disneyland had the better BTMRR for the last decade, I prefer New Orleans Square to Liberty Square (which, I put the Squares and FL together), you have Fantasmic on the river at DL, a Pirate theme that is far more relevant than TSI, a better PotC as part of the land... not to mention Winnie the Pooh in that area. The worst Frontierland in the world??? It had Splash and Big Thunder and Country Bears. That’s two more pretty significant attractions in the roster. It also has the better rivers and Tom Sawyer Island. The pirate lair “upgrade” in Disneyland was quite the downgrade. It also has the better “town” area.Wait.. people thought it was better than Disneyland?? Since when? What, exactly, is better about MK's?? Just the aesthetics?
I certainly do not think it was "undisputedly better" by any stretch of the imagination.
I guess if you take “Frontierland” totally literally and therefore remove Critter country and New Orleans Square, then sure. But to me those all occupy the same space in the park and should be compared together. The space around the River is all essentially one land in almost everyone’s mind. Not counting DL’s Splash just cause it is technically “Critter Country” or “Bayou Country” seems silly. It had Splash and Big Thunder and Country Bears.
