  • Well, you served as a bit of inspiration for us. I printed out the Aug 2011 hours and afterwards we had a bit of a "family discussion", and lo and behold we are booking at the Contemporary from Aug 28th/September 3rd. Thankfully, the school district released its calendar for next year, so we're booking soon.

Hopefully we can subsidize our $440 Magic Kingdom view room with some hefty discounts!
How did you change your schedule? Do you avoid parks with EMH days or visit them on those days? We flip flop a bit, as we avoid parks with morning extra magic hours, but if a park is having evening extra magic hours, we'll head back there.

I'm getting pretty excited for Star Tours to be honest. Our first time on the ride was last year, and I can't wait to see how they improve it. Hopefully the 3D doesn't make anyone motion sick!

Congrats on choosing Boma! You'll love it, even though your husband is a picky eater. Hopefully it is the highlight of your meals on property, and that your Passporter comes!

I created a blog this summer, and I'll share it with you so you can check back daily to get excited for your trip. I plan on posting a picture a day with some commentary, so hopefully you'll get to see some places you haven't seen yet.

don't get depressed yet. It may change & may not! Trust me I have lots of friends at work ticked right now because they are Xling their Sept wk trip...Marianne's kids are a bit older (7 & 9)she refuses to take them out of school so looking at summer (too hot for me! )

That darn Passporter has been the death of you- coming not coming....here not here...will it ever get here?

looking forward to eating w/ you guys at Chef Mickey's Sun eve...I am QUITE sure you get invited to one of the viewing areas for fireworks if you stick around....you may head over to MK. I'm playing it safe for now but #'s are SO low for crowds that wk, I may get brave & head over...unless MNSSHP is going on. I don't think we can get in...anyways plenty of time to worry about that!

BEAUTIFUL day today. I'm helping out Sandy's boss today "showing" a house 4 him. $50 cash for 5 hours of showing a house..I can do that. Heck I'm going to volunteer for more of that LOL

Have a SAFE trip to AL!
ha ha go get em' tiger! news at 11 LOL can't WAIT to hear the responses you get...thanks for sharing!

We here are also all firing off school board member emails...I'm working on mine tonight. I need to be calm and relaxed when I start spewing lava LOL
I think that if you already planned and booked your vacation prior to the change, you're entitled to have an excused absence since you booked without the anticipation of the school scheduled going FUBAR.

That reminds me, I have to print out the August hours. I was intitally concerned because it looks like the parks close really early (and I'm a night-park roamer) but we'll see how this works out! How's the hours for September looking?
OMG what a load of horse crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!! More then 70% of the people wanted the Aug. 1 start date so what did they do????? They voted in the Aug. 15th start date!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BS and what a set up...I'm ed! lol What happened to last years (this years really) that was supposed to be good for THREE years! erghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh somebody got bought off!!!
OH That's right! Celebration, FL lol - would wind up working for Seaworld in Orlando - NOT lol

Yes all the girls I work with here voted too! Most are Cobb County and have Disney vacations booked the same week and are ed over all of this - I am sure it will stay the same. I haven't heard one person voice wanting it changed. Doesn't make any sense to me at all. But the vote is at 6 (the meeting anyways) - they need to post it online by 8 I say!

Speaking of which...they just released the Sept 2011 park hours - woohoo! me thinks I need to move a couple days around to get the most bang for my buck. Like I have MK for the 23rd but they show it closing at 7 with no fireworks....me thinks me needs to think on it LMAO!

No have never been to Disneyland. I priced some options out in January and was like NOPE! too much money.
Yeahhh don't you like we have nothing better to worry about then planning our disney trips and what shirts to buy or adr's to make? LOL I WISH life could stay as easy and unstressful as this...maybe some day when I win the lottery and move to Orlando where I get my dream job of working somewhere on Disney property LOL

Holy cow! today is the day of the vote! I hope like heck they tell us today on the CC school website what the vote is....I hate the waiting!!! On the bright side - THE WEATHER IS AWESOME!!
Hopefully the board member you spoke to makes some progress. School calendars are usually a very touchy subject, especially around here. Every early November, the NJ Education Association holds a convention in Atlantic City for two days. Thus, that's a prime time for many NJ area families to visit WDW (we did in 2005). Does Georgia have anything like that?
Well hopefully everyone went online and voted and they take all that into consideration because you are right - total waste of time and money to revisit it again. Jeez they couldn't even wait 3 years to revisit it as would be normal LOL nooooo let's just waste some more taxpayer money rehashing the same issues - lol

NO haven't seen the new t's - where are they or where can i see them? Disney store website?

Sitting here going over my dates and which parks I'm doing and trying to pick out my ADR's LOL I've decided Monday is MK, Tuesday is AK, Wednesday is DHS, thursday is EP and friday is MK again.....I know for sure the ADR with you Sunday night....Then Tuesday a.m. meeting my other friend at Tusker House with her family for breakfast...and friday evening Cali Grill and fireworks from 15th floor - that's it! That's all I got! lol
That whole calendar thing is ridiculous. How does that upset other parents? It sounds like a good deal.
Interesting about the Indy show. This is the first time any of us will have seen it, so hopefully this bodes well for us!

To be honest, only twice in our 6 times of visiting WDW have we ever watched a parade. The first time was disastrous...we went with a...difficult...family member who stressed out everyone and created arguments about finding a place to watch the parade, so needless to say we weren't too happy when we were watching it. The second time it was just the three of us, and we found a spot within 15 minutes of the parade starting...no stress. And we all enjoyed the parade from an unobstructed view! We haven't seen a daytime parade or the shows...to be honest I never found them entertaining.

I hope that vote gets turned down! I hate it when a small group of angry people ruins everything for the majority of everyone else. Regardless, I have faith that they won't change your calendar/trip, at least I hope they won't!
Well I don't see how they can expect people to change reservations they made a year ago because they decide to revisit the same darn thing again this year...I get tired of it too! And you should go - they need to just understand if people made reservations and paid for it (tell them you did with no refund! lol) then you need to just go honey! I'm going but it doesn't effect me because I'm flying solo anyways....OH there is a survey on the CC School website also to voice your opinion. Think I'll do that after I talk to you LOL

NOPE I haven't eaten dinner at Chef Mickey's at all so I'm psyched that you said I can join you..I hope it's ok with your hubby and kids. I'm not a psycho - I'm safe...well as safe as I can be - just Disney dorky LOL
Tonight is definitely out..Lindsay is having a sleepover and for some dang reason...a justin booger movie is part of that LMAO!
Me too! If I'm going to wait a long time for a ride, it better be worth it! You know what they say...the shortest guests wait the longest times for the shortest rides.

Oh! I saw Finding Nemo, totally slipped my mind. It's a nice production, with great costumes and music. I guess since we go to Broadway more often than the regular Disney guest we weren't overly impressed, but it's worth seeing at least once. Then again, we've seen Finding Nemo the movie more times than we can count, so perhaps we're just jaded.

I've tried to take pictures of the Stunt show too, but I always wind up being too engrossed in the show to take pictures. Have you seen the Indy one? We always plan on seeing it but we keep missing the opportunity.
Welllllll I'm going to Weight Watchers for a reason (lol) I have quite a bit of weight to lose so that probably is part of dating problem plus I just really don't go anywhere where I would even be looking LOL I don't go to bars because I really don't drink...about as exciting as I get is Walmart on a saturday evening ha ha ha! HOWEVER thanks so much for your very kind words!!! And yes that is Lindsay - the one the only ha!

HOW SWEET OF YOU!!! I'd love to join you and your family at Chef Mickey's Sunday night the 18th! I'm actually flying in mid day that day so that is perfect. I can get to the hotel, unwind, shop shop and shop (lol) and then take the bus to MK and hop the monorail from the MK to the Contemporary! YEAH! more photo opportunities LOL So yes please add me to your rezzie - hey when you make it, check and see if we get invited to the firework opportunity on the 15th floor after dinner....I'm not sure we do but who knows...I have trouble keeping it all straight :-)
It's an older one...probably from the 50's or so. But definitely "classic" Disney.

That makes sense. I could totally see the appeal of Astro Orbitor, but I'm disheartened to hear it was disappointing for you guys. OH and rides I wanted to demolish...the Flying Carpets ride in Adventureland. How bad am I? LOL.

Quite honestly, I've never seen a stage show. We have seen the Lights Motors Action show though, which is FANTASTIC, but nothing by the way of stage shows.
wah I'm so confused LOL do you have park hoppers by chance because you are all OVER The place -I know some of those are resorts & such but your bouncy LOL Very aggressive schedule I can say! Wed. you are at DHS - lunch unknown? Have you ever done Sci Fi Drive IN? It's a hoot! HUGE movie screen showing corny old Attack of the 50 foot woman movies LOL (I think they are all from the 60s) - you sit in cars that have their tops cut off & eat your lunch. It's a blast...BUT hard to talk as a bit loud 50's PT Cafe is fun also for lunch/dinner. I'm actually looking to do DHS Wed & that is the ONLY pretty much definite I have so maybe lunch there somewhere? CS or TS.

Sun. I was thinking of doing Chef Mickey's but I'll be alone so maybe Contemporary & then I can watch the fireworks from the 15th floor viewing area (I think you can do that too if eating at Chef Mickeys? check!)

Anyways, let me think on what i'm doing & maybe we can find one commonality -

    FREEZING out! lol
I've seen both versions of the GMR, but I can't remember which one I've seen more frequently. I know that the explosion effect in the Gangsters scene was broken for a while, but it's a really cool effect when it works!
Interesting about the new animation movies. To be honest, I still haven't seen Toy Story 3. How sad is that? Oh and I forgot to mention another animated movie I forgot...it's an animated version of The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Toad, maybe it was called The Legend of Ichabob Crane and Mr. Toad? I'm not quite sure, but I loved that, especially since they're so relatable to the parks (Liberty Square).

I was thinking about this yesterday...the view from Astro Orbitor isn't good? In that case, I won't waste my time on it unless there's no wait. I've always wondered what it'd be like to fly above Tomorrowland.

If you've seen the original Tiki Room, the new version is a bit of an...embarassment, i guess. They took a 16 minute long, tranquil, Walt-original show and turned it into a four minute bastardization. If you haven't seen the old Tiki Room, I guess it's somewhat decent. Hopefully they re-install the old version, even though it wasn't as exciting.
Let's see - I arrive the 18th. Not sure what time yet because I have to book my flight but my sister told me in no uncertain terms do NOT book it until at least July (extra deals I guess?) unless I get a drop dead once in a lifetime deal LOL Probably will just hang out Sunday - not sure because I don't know my flight schedule.

Ok Wed (DHS), Thurs (MK) and Friday (AK) what meals do you have planned? any ideas? doesn't have to be TS but maybe we can hook up for a CS meal somewhere but what I choose to do will be based on what your plans are...I'm free and clear baby! SOLO!!! ha ha ha! Ooops and don't forget to tell me your meal plans for Tuesday either....I LOVE Epcot! Just not sure I'm doing it Monday. That is the one thing I'm all messed up about right now..what parks to do what days LOL
