  • hi there! Glad you are having fun in Alabama! Trips can be so relaxing...love taking them - glad you are having a good time AND feel better also!

I'm booking the cruise trip the 17th of this month. Don't want to lose the rates and the onboard credits. Small World Vacations gave me the most bang for the buck so that's what I'm doing! LOL

YES to WW - weigh in is tonight...Keep your fingers crossed. I'm on my road to 25 pounds in 3.5 months...I know I can do it...at least 20 anyways LOL

    When are you coming home?
Actually, it was cooler in DC! We weren't outside too much, but the one day we went into the city, it was a scorcher. It always feels really hot whenever I'm in DC. It's going to be 94 this Wednesday in NJ, with 90s and high 80s throughout the week. This kind of weather makes me regret having leather seats in our car...

No problem! I'm glad to hear you had such a relaxing (silent?) time. What did you guys do in AL? I'd love to have that kind of vacation.

I think people will always look for something to complain about. I believe in viewing things objectively, but there's a time and a season for everything, and some stuff folks are complaining about is totally absurd.
hi there! holy cow can it get any hotter? oh yeah..wait till this weekend LOL jeez it's ridiculous and only June. Can't WAIT until July and August - LMAO!

Tomorrow is Friday - yeah! Hey I think I know what we are doing for Lindsay's 14th birthday next year - don't laugh. 5/24/12 school gets out. I want to take her out a day early, head to Port Canaveral, spend the night at the Radisson, board the Disney Dream 5/24....5/25 we are in Nassau.....5/26 Castaway Cay (YEAH!!!) and come back to port 5/27 early in the morning...then spend the day at light Kennedy Space Center or something...but yeah there it goes...a 3 night Disney Dream Bahama Cruise LOL what do you think? 3 nights for the 3 of us, taxes included, $1600-

NOW you can call me a dork! lol
I kind of grew to love the Unofficial Guide. We don't buy guidebooks anymore (since we know what we're doing and we're not the demographic they're aiming for) but once you get past the complaining, you have some really legitimate (and honest) information. Of course, I don't really let it dampen my mood because my vacations have always worked out perfectly...knock on wood.

It's so weird having air conditioning on. Can you believe that? I'm just so used to it being so damn cold outside. Today it got hot enough that rolling down the windows in the car while driving actually made it more comfortable! I hesitate to turn the AC on in the car because of fuel prices these days, so I was a bit disappointed.
I'm not sure how to explain it, mostly because I totally disagree with it. But anyway, MGM Studios was rushed during construction and built "on the cheap". Besides the Great Movie Ride and Stunt Show, there wasn't anything else to do in the park as far as attractions go. Like the Animal Kingdom, it was built solely to have people lengthen their stays and spend more time on property while being done on the cheap, supposedly. Others complain that building and maintaining those two parks diverts funds and attention away from Magic Kingdom and EPCOT...which makes some sense, but I just totally disagree with it. Some people can't enjoy the parks for what they are without getting all flustered about the context of the park, which is ridiculous. It's an amusement park.
I'm not leaving until Thursday night, but I may be bringing the iPad anyway so I'll be able to access WDWMagic and such.

Thankfully, DC weather's looking to be in the 80's when I get down there. So not too much of a departure from what we've seen up here, but nice and hot. We'll be in the hotel most of the time, but hopefully we'll get out to do some sightseeing.

When I first read the Unofficial Guide, it was sort of like the site you're talking about...not a good review to be found! Of course, they were there, but for someone like me who was so naive about WDW, it was a shocker!

Some people are so entrenched with their vendettas against the parks (like DAK and MGM) that I just don't see how they enjoy WDW at all. I guess you could hate parts of the park, or the reason the park was built, but to let your own opinions prevent you from enjoying an otherwise great experience is beyond me.
thanks for the well wishes! it WAS smooth and relaxing and hotter then hades but I expected that LOL

I am SO glad you are feeling better! It's been a long few weeks for you - I am very glad you are over it and doing well again :)

I've seen Crocs but just can't get myself to order crocs LOL I'm pretty much a sneaker kinda gal although people I know swear by those things! lol I'm going to buy myself some Asics at Kohls for my trip. My sister swears by those so I'll give them a try. Don't want to have to wrap my toe every night in 5" of gauze like last year LMAO!

supposed to be 98 by wednesday - holy cow!
hi there! i'm back and I am HOPING you are feeling better at this point! lol maybe it has all run its course by now....

had a blast! you'll see my kinda quick post of FB but I really cannot convey just how beautiful Cumberland was....wow! I'll get photos on FB soon....unbelievable.

Sucks tomorrow back to work but that's ok...officially only 3.5 months till disney - woohoo! psyching up now!
That's a good question. I don't really read reviews for stuff at WDW unless it's about food, or maybe a new ride or something. We've never had a bad experience at WDW when it comes to hotels, and usually we're set on which hotel we're going to stay at, so reviews are pretty irrelevant to us. If we're travelling somewhere else, we will read reviews, but we don't find it necessary for WDW. What about you?

And here's some good news- this weekend I will be in DC! I haven't gone in four years to the day (and I had a bit of a stomach virus on my last visit) but I am quite excited to go! I'll be staying in Arlington, right outside of the capital, but hopefully will have enough time for some sightseeing.
MGM Studios isn't really known for great food, unfortunately. The experiences I've had (Backlot, Mama Melrose, Hollywood Brown Derby, Min&Bill's, and 99 cent grapefruit (!) at the food stand by Tower of Terror) have been very good. That being said, I absolutely LOVE the MGM Studios park in general, though many hate it more than hell itself.

Perhaps we're just naive or not culinarily experienced but we've never had any complaints. And trust me- I'm a complainer! I usually keep my thoughts to myself, but even when it comes to food at WDW, I've never had anything to complain about. Then again, there is so much complaining about WDW food that I wonder sometimes.
I just scrolled down on your user page, and we both have 384 page visits each. How weird!

Good question re: food reviews. I'm not the most adventurous of eaters, but I can when a dish isn't cooked how it should be or if it's just plain bad. I respect the judgements of the people on DisneyFoodBlog or on forums because I figure they're normal folk like me. Of course, I don't believe everything I hear (when I hear two completely polarized reactions to the same restaurant).

For example, we've been eating at the San Angel Inn every trip since 2004 and NEVER had a bad meal or complaint. However, people ALWAYS find something bad to say about the place. Maybe we're just lucky, but no one in my family has ever had a bad meal at Disney. The only time something was wrong was when they had a rotten tomato in their salad back in the 70's.
I must confess, I do like restaurant reviews and food pictures better than trip reports. For some reason, Disney food just does it for me. I can't tell you how excited I'm getting for my trip!

Nice! I think I have a silhouette shirt as well. What does the ToT one look like?

Congratulations on the new level of motherhood! LOL. I remember when my mom had two kids in high school...she had a lot more gray hairs!
I see you got that weird email from that goofy person also LOL It said uninvited message or unauthorized message - something like that so i ignored it!

The disasters just keep coming...it's just terrible. I wish I had the resources to volunteer out in the mid west. I just can't because of Linds and work. So I give when I can to the booty firemen in front of the stores...it's not much but I figure every bit helps.

Ibuprofen....I found if I alternative it with naproxin I do much better...like I'll do a week of Ibu...then attempt a day or two without anything...then do naproxin a week....or acetominophen. If I bounce, it keeps working (although it's probably not highly recommended by docs...well 2 are but not rotating 3 lol)
Oh ok well you just look familiar then! LOL

I really hope the Halloween party works out for you one way or another...I can tell you aren't happy about possibly having to miss it or maybe you seem down because of something else...end of school? either way i hope it works out!

I cannot believe how horrible that twister in Joplin, MO was - an F4 - holy cow! So much damage and so many lives lost...I can't even fathom it! It's total devastation...how does one regain confidence to build back up again after something like that...my heart just breaks for them.
You are you! I didn't have any expectations - you are lovely, have lovely kids and a lovely family so there! lol Love all the photos...great job! So sorry you are feeling in the dumper though..it sucks being a Mom at times because nobody really takes care of you when YOU are sick. You are still expected to take care of everyone else - hopefully when things simmer down, you'll be able to get some much needed rest and sleep! That would be nice!

What's going on with MNSSHP? Just not sure of the funds I'm guessing? it IS very expensive..especially for a family of 4 - I was going to do it solo and said forget it! LOL BTW I can't wait for dinner with you guys...I always do one expensive meal a day and that's it for Sunday so I'm psyched because I've never done it before..we'll have a blast! Lots of photo ops missy! lol

One more thing about you...I feel like I've seen you before...probably Kroger. You run into everyone at Kroger it seems ha ha!
I'm glad your stomachache is feeling better, though. Sometimes it's just stress, though I don't get them all of that often. Vomiting is my mortal fear, so I'm very wary of any stomachache I get (especially on a WDW vacation!)

For some reason, hearing other people talk about WDW gets me even more excited to go. Besides all of the trepidation and thoughts of what could go wrong, I'm just so enthused to head down there. I find myself reading other folks' trip reports to see how excited other people are about their vacations (as a matter of fact, I'm posting my pre-trip report right now). Is there any particular souvenir you''re looking forward to buying?
I have to agree. The months from January to March are VERY long, and the weather makes it seem even longer. It's just so difficult to imagine how quickly it's all gone by. I'm thinking about WDW even more and more lately. I wonder what will be the first thing I'll eat, or smell. What about you?

I haven't been to DC in four years, and the last time I was there, I came down with a nasty stomach virus. Let's hope this time goes better.

Congrats on the golf reservations! :sohappy: I can't remember if I've asked, but have you tried the minigolf at WDW? The courses seem so imaginative, from what I've heard.
