In what area of the country have you been busiest? Have you done a lot of work in Texas and Florida over the last several weeks?

What is your theory based on this anecdotal evidence? If your experience indicates that there is no hospitalization surge, no overflowing hospitals, who is lying? Every major media outlet? There isn't an outcry from Doctors that the media is lying, so is the medical establishment complicit? How many docs and nurses are pushing fake numbers? Presumably, the CDC would also be implicated? Who organized the conspiracy? To what end? How many people are involved? It would have to be at least several hundred, right?

My theory? Please…no need to be condescending. We’ve seen some hospitals with patient surge…I never said there wasn’t. I never said anyone was lying or anything of the sort. We’ve also seen hospitals with perfectly normal patient count and through put. The Houston facilities were busier than normal, but none of the staff or admins were in panic mode. Mostly due to the fact their take aways from the last 15 months have led to better procedures and implementation of those procedures.

I agree with that. It seems to grow faster than previous strains but then crash down fast too. At least based on India and the UK. In Israel the growth has been slower but that may be due to them having more adults vaccinated. It’s hard to draw firm conclusions on how the US will react. For example if cases in FL were to peak and start to drop but TX is still growing and is joined by IL or NY or PA or some other combo of larger states the National cases may not drop.

The problem?
Certain people/outlets have been saying “India went down…UK went down” as an excuse to do whatever we god damn wanted (Merican way)…and that’s a reason why we wasted a month.

remember when Israel was held up as a vaccine cure all? That was used as an assumption enough people would do it…so ima gonna do a whata I want…

Ok, forgiven.
My intent was to simply pass on what I’m personally seeing. My own opinion is the hospitals I’ve been in that are seeing patient surge are able to handle it much better so far, simply due to experience.

The booster is apparently needed for Pfizer, not moderna.

Don't worry, today the government announced they may refuse to pay superintendents and school board members who mandate masking for students. So that should take care of it.

P.S: Texas just requested help from out-of-state healthcare professionals and asked hospitals to postpone all elective surgery. So those hospitals seem to be in some difficulty.

Unfortunately it seems the simple concept of 'motivated self-interest' takes a backseat to whats on cable or the internet.

As for not paying, I am sure these school officials would dare the government to not honor their contracts. Instant breach of contract lawsuit with high damage awards. And of course the politicians wouldnt pay. The tax payers would. Just back off and have the students wear the f)(#*$& masks for awhile until things settle back down. Its not a lot to ask. They make it seem like the schools are asking for the parents' first born.

That’s not how it works. Mondays are always lower than Sunday, because Sunday is the least testing.

You compare Monday to the previous Monday. And it’s higher.

Exactly. This is the most frustrating part. Even if someone believed that all of these bad things were 3/4ths true or half truths, it would still be a terrible thing. And even if the vaccine was less effective, it would still be a great thing.

Every authority of expertise is lying in every country and circuit. That is the only way the doubters live. It reminds me of an emotional trauma thing where people cannot except bad things are happening and distance themselves form it rather than take action.

I only laugh cause it's what they deserve. Maybe instead of focusing on being open for business they should have focused on getting people vaccinated.

There are many in this world that exhibit poor behavior so they should not get what they deserve. You may think differently when you and your loved ones are trying to get medical attention and there is no room at the inn.

Just a word about the uk cases put into context

it was always expected that 19th July would cause a rise in our cases. Our own health secretary expected 100,000 cases a day by the end of July - that hasn’t happened and they don’t expect it to happen now.

we had an artificial decline because we had an artificial spike caused by the football - our own super spreader event as such - that fell off the radar pretty quickly and at the start masked any increase due to July 19th - we are starting to see that now but very slowly. I’d have bit your hand off for cases at these levels three weeks ago I have to say.

as for admissions they are bumpy and actually still down as a week on week average even up to today - they are essentially a bit flat but a large proportion of those (as reported by PHE) are those going into hospital for routine things or other emergency’s and testing positive then. Numbers in hospital are down - Mondays figures is still down on this time last week but our Sunday and
Mondays figures always spike up for some reason and then come right down again - reporting quirks I guess.

by specimen date of cases they are probably up by 1500 from this time last week - considering everthing is open, stadia are packed I would have taken that small rise as long as it remains that way.

Scientists here believe we are entering a state of equilibrium with the virus - where the number of cases remain relatively stable as do hospitalisations - they don’t think with everything open they will go low, but can’t see the massive peaks either - it will be just there, at a stable rate now in the background but with less and less susceptible over time it will not be a serious, hospital event for most. This is what living with covid is I guess.

Thankfully I live in a country where that rarely happens.

All I'm saying maybe those in charge should have worried note about getting people vaccinated over being open for business.

No, I am going off of your statement that you made. My medical worker loved ones really do care who is vaxxed as it absolutely matters to their jobs what others do. Wasn't remarking on if you are or not. Someone not vaccinating absolutely affects those in hospital and care settings. You might ignore it, but they can't. A few friends in hot spots are begging people to vaccinate. I know one who just left care settings because it was too much and moved to teaching instead. It does affect them.

Governments mandate a lot. People keep forgetting how many rules and laws we have. Rules for vaccinating already exist. Pretending it isn't a reality now leads to poor arguments.

And i would disagree with you on many of those laws. No need to keep sliding down the slope here. But your right in care settings it matters. Those institutions should keep everything tight. But disney world? Or publix? No need.
