For me it's an ick factor. When the touchpoint is warm and sweaty from the person(s) before me it's gross. I hate them and I'm not a germaphobe, but I get icked out like that.

I’ve always preferred the Disneyland entrances where the cm’s scan your card and welcome you by name (usually).

The touchpoints seem very impersonal and “we are watching you and we will catch you.”

There was a time when the multi day passes at WDW had your picture. Never understood why they went with touch points. Young ones and disabled often have issues with them working right often anyway.

Agreed. And with entrance staff prioritizing efficiency over courtesy I often cringe at the “welcome” that first time guests receive at both the entrance gates and security.

The Mack family seems to have taken the secret recipe when when they split from the Mancos (or maybe that owner who went to jail took it). Their crust used to be damn-near perfect back in the day. Now? Meh, nothing special anymore.

Johnson's, Kohr Brother's, and Shriver's products have all held up well as of my last sampling in 2019, though.

I linked some research some time ago. (Too busy ATM to go look at my history). There are a few studies out there. Some show the that the viral load is much less, others show the effective R rate is much less. My memory (which is never perfect) was that the evidence was strong in the paper, even if the practical use of that knowledge was limited (i.e. until they show symptoms or enough time passes it is hard to tell if someone is asymptomatic or pre-symptomatic).

There are meta analysis of studies that draw a different conclusion (But they recognize that aggregating studies that have varying protocols may cause inaccuracies in conclusions). So not all researchers are in agreement. But I prefer a good study than a meta-study(i.e. a study of studies).

Here is a meta study that (Shows a low asymptomatic transmission vs pre-symptomatic) in one spot it points out how someone who was classified as asymptomatic in a study, actually had symptoms (coughing in a meeting) when she infected others. Thei results would have been skewed if they had used the original study vs the later correction. Shows the problem with getting good uniform data:

We had to have my aunt take a photo even as it was seriously hard for her with her fine motor skills.

Or the time I cut my finger. Had to keep resetting as bandaid moved and was removed. They reset it so much, it was ridiculous. They really could think of something better.

I once read a study that in the average office setting the toilet seats in the public bathroom were cleaner than the phones on people’s desks. The reason being that toilets are cleaned daily but most people never cleans their phone. Not relevant to the topic, just a really gross fact

That's probably because people don't wash their hands after using the toilet and then start making phone calls. You want a race to the bottom here, I'm up for it

Also any handle or door pull. Really funny when you think phones and door handles are worse then toilet seats. I always thought they should have towelettes outside the door to open them with. Also, never understood the blow dryers for your hands in the bathrooms but pull door handles to get out of the place. No paper towels so your stuck either grabbing toilet paper or waiting until someone walks in then sneaking out. Am I the only one? Lol

You could use a disinfecting wipe after you touched it?

That might be true. But they aren't touching the exact same spot that has been touched 500 times in just the prior 30 minutes.

For people that care (I don't use the handrails) you could use sanitizer?

and Orange county will be 40 and up starting monday.

I am in south Florida but thinking about trying to get an appointment up in Orlando. (I am in my early 40's)

I am thinking of making a day of it. Shot in the morning, then Epcot right after the shot.

Forgive me if this has been a discussion point already- but why are other places seeing sharp declines whereas florida is plateauing? Doesn’t seem like a good thing to me...

The country as a whole has plateaued. Not many states have decreasing cases right now. Many are plateaued like Florida, a few are increasing some, and a few are decreasing some.

Our trend of decline has definitely slowed down. Still seems to be declining, just less fast. FL is also declining looking at the seven day averages.

Outside of kids not having an op to get the vaccination yet, will the rest of us have to suffer with a non normal life because of others decisions to not be as protected? That’s my concern

Could be a normal/semi-normal summer...leading into a spike/precaution fall.

A lot of worry about that scenario

I think 35ish -% have had one shot...21% full vaccinated (adults)

The fear is the knucklers will continue to be their own doctors and the vaccines will flatline in the 50 or 60% range
