I personally like the memes. If I don't laugh, I think I might actually cry, so I'd rather laugh.

Yup. Some of the memes are really funny. :D

I just don’t think it’s funny. Joke in person if one wants to.. but leave it off FB. I have the utmost respect for moms who homeschool... but I am so sick of reading their memes the past few days.

There’s a difference between planning to homeschool, and now figuring out how your kids are going to learn at home while you’re off at work.

I'm sure she is not referring to the memes about the parents that homeschool their kids. I believe she was rerferring to the silly, general ones that I was talking about above, as well (not the ones that insult people who are doing their best under trying circumstances)!

I had class with a student I haven’t seen in about a month. The mom came into the video screen and asked how things in the country were. I told her everything was fine and my family was healthy and safe. Where they live though, the schools are still closed. She is the only student I have had in the last 2 weeks that isn’t back in school. I didn’t want to ask in what part of China they live. I did appreciate her concern.

I forgot to tell you all some good news...when we came back from vacation we only had one teeny tiny (about two inches high by one foot across) pile of snow in our front yard. The back has a few small ones because it doesn't get sun, they are a couple feet wide but only a couple inches high. When we left some of the snow banks were still about 3-4 feet high! Snow, snow go away. Sorry @MinnieM123
Our plum trees have flower buds as does our Japanese cherry. One of our peach trees is starting to bud as well.

My school district just closed for 2 weeks. Monday March 16th - Friday March 27th.
My quote above is from Saturday. I'm bringing it back because I want to share with you that I (along with all teachers in my district) are participating in remote teaching. I'm glad that administration saw the need for this and prepared days in advance. We the teaching staff naturally also put in extra time last week to get ready.
This will be my only post this morning and early afternoon.
I am forbidden to post on social media between 8am and 2:30pm. I must focus on school. Even if it is in my comfortable living room chair.
See you after 2:30pm then. ;)

Oh sounds lovely. We have a raised flower bed near the house and the daffodils have already pushed up and some little purple flowers are almost ready to open. I also noticed some tulips pushing up in the regular ground flower area. I love spring flowers!

We still have to print our stupid Friday hot lunch papers, and field trip papers. 🤦‍♀️ Everyone complains about that. Lol

I would never accept that from anyone! Can do me a favor though and ask your oldest what they would charge?. I’m very curious.
Tell them- “be home with an almost 10year old, paid cash for minimum of 3 weeks, use of WiFi computer and printer if needed, 2-3 hours of uninterrupted time to do their own school work, all favorite drinks, food, snacks provided (I would get delivery for lunch and dinner as long as it’s available)..us of basketball court, trampoline, soccer/baseball equipment anytime other than the mandatory online-school time- make sure my kid is on the computer during that time.”

T doesn’t really need someone to watch and entertain him, I’m just not comfortable with him being home alone...so want someone at the house or in the yard. I realize that’s still “babysitting”, but I don’t know.. to me $200-$250 per week sounds fair 🤷‍♀️.
I asked my DD what she thought, and she said because of the amount of hours, maybe $8.

That would be $360 per week. More reasonable than the $500-$750. I probably would have groaned, but not hit the ceiling if received that quote.lol

For a reference point, I had a nanny- qualified, certified, years of experience.. responsibilities of light cleaning and cooking.. did need to be watching T at all times..changing diapers...etc etc... and she wasn’t $700 per week. 🤪

I was really hoping (still holding a little hope) that maybe another only child would want to do this. A 15 year old and a 10 year old are a huge age gap in maturity and life, but I thought it might help with boredom for both and they could just play basketball, soccer, trampoline, hit golf balls or baseballs.. we have a ton of sports equipment here, and I have a good space to do school work... I thought maybe someone would look at this as “I can make $600-$750 over 3 weeks and not be sitting at home alone”. To me that’s a good chunk of money for a 15 year old.

Maybe I’m being too naive.
