Anyone able to drop some hints about what we may see in the area aside from just cosmetic touch-ups? Like new rides, dining, etc.
We need The Commander & Jetstream meet n greets!![]()
Well, if they don’t plan on getting rid of them in the immediate future as currently appears to be the case, they’re going to awkwardly mask the connection they had to the support beams that are currently being removed.Originally the roof fins were coming down. Now it looks like they’re staying as you say.
I was about to say "they seal the hole like they did when they got rid of the Monsters Inc UFO" but I forgot about the awkward connection there. I'm hoping they painted them white just to make it more uniform until it's time to remove them.Well, if they don’t plan on getting rid of them in the immediate future as currently appears to be the case, they’re going to awkwardly mask the connection they had to the support beams that are currently being removed.View attachment 443700View attachment 443701
Hopefully, Imagineering can get the funds to take the roof fins down eventually, even if it’s several years down the road. The unfortunate thing about this current refresh is that it seems to be completely dependent whatever extra money they can find and not a formal budget of its own.
I'm still wondering if it's supposed to turn blue in the future. That's one thing @marni1971 mentioned like 2 years ago that I haven't forgotten for some reason. It could work with a spire covered TL.Get rid of the roof fins.
Get rid of the yellow AE tower.
Bring back Star Jets.
Do it right.

Oh I'm not disagreeing. I'm glad it's turning back into a nice TL but I really want them to do it right, none of this half-donkey'd stuff. That is the plan, but it's style and shape does not match the rest of the land. Like we've seen with the roof fins, just painting the '94 elements white or blue doesn't really make them blend with the rest of the land.
It's silly to put in 60-70% of the effort to bring back the original design, and then just stop there.
That’s the spirit. These words should be spread by theme park fans across the internet so the message is heard.Get rid of the roof fins.

Yeah, because it’s not like there’s another structure Disney can redirect that provides shade. Oh, wait...The fins are the only shade in all the parks!
Unless you were planning stand stand around the corner or on the WEDway track, didn't really provide much more shade.Yeah, because it’s not like there’s another structure Disney can redirect that provides shade. Oh, wait...View attachment 443906

Now about gettings those under-track supports to be less...metal
Fun fact. The track bed is reinforced concrete that was cast in situ as opposed to a metal framework that was pieced together. The PeopleMover is really just a steel Meccano playset with some concrete cladding.

The PeopleMover is really just a steel Meccano playset with some concrete cladding. It only looks like a brutalist concrete jungle edifice - of that briefly lived brave utopia of the late sixties, early seventies that was reviled for its dehumanising effect for decades afterwards and which we now would die for TL to look like again.
The metal track supports should be able to just get a cover at feasible cost. Any sticky plaster with a white coat of paint will do, methinks?

Not really. Googie was over by the early to mid sixties. TL 71/75 is space age, mid century modern, brutalism with a human face, fantasy futurism, whatever one wishes to call it. Googie is more specific, more precise than just mid century modern. The 50s Prime Time sign is WDW's erm, 'prime' Googie example. DL TL had a lot of Googie influences.Oh dear.
Nothing about Tomorrowland's original Googie-inspired design is anywhere close to Brutalist.
