I still get goosebumps from that moment. Walking from the AmAd bathrooms to Italy with that music playing at full blast through the whole prom PA.

When Martin said it gave him goosebumps. He wasn't kidding! Here's footage of the finale in honor of Epcot's 25th Anniversary. They actually played Tomorrow's Child as guests we're leaving the park.

Actually... It's probably RoL's faults and lukewarm reception (and HEA's success) that is leading us to a IPluminations. (Yes, WDW is forgetting that the temporary Jungle Book show wasn't popular, either.)
I was walking around a virtually empty Showcase after that with Listen to the Land, Magic Journeys and Motions Centercore finale playing at full pelt from every speaker. One of those moments you want to cherish forever.
To me, this show seems like Chappie and TDO are resurrecting EPCOT Center's long-dead corpse just long enough for them to drive a stake through its heart and kill it forever when they switch to the new crapfest scheduled for 2020. 
Well, if the Jungle Book DAK show was as well received as HEA, we may never have gotten RoL.
So, maybe if y'all hope that Epcot Forever is so well received (and IPluminations is poorly received) that they'll decide to go (back) with Epcot Forever.

Thinking about ROE's score being thrown in the trash is probably the most gutting thing about losing ROE for me.
Does anyone know if there's any intention to preserve any of the score in some way for the 2020 show?

That's less bothersome to me, even though I'll miss it. But shows come and go, as do scores. What's disappointing to me is not that they'll replace RoE's score with something else, but that they'll replace it with Disney movie songs.

When it was first announced that RoE would be getting a replacement, I thought "well at least maybe they could get Gavin Greenaway to come back and compose the new score." Now it's looking like there's not going to be much if any new score to compose.

Yeah, if the replacement for the score/show were aiming for the same kind of gravitas and inspiration that ROE has I might be willing to give it a shot. But based on the concept video it looks like we're in for glorified Disney Karaoke on the lagoon
As an aside, even though change is inevitable and often times good, I do think there's an argument for keeping certain things constant. If something is beautiful and meaningful with a timeless message (which I think ROE is/has), keeping it as a permanent fixture (but updating it periodically to keep up with technology) has the power to be the kind of thing to bring different generations of Disney fans together. Like imagine seeing ROE as a kid and then getting to bring your kids to see it one day. I think there's something really really special about that.
Idk. Like no one (at least to my knowledge) is calling for like, POTC or Small World or similar park classics to be completely gutted and replaced just because they've been around forever. If a concept is special I think it's worth the time to maintain it, and if ROE is special (which I truly think it is) I don't think that replacing it should be considered a given, just because its a show and that's what we do to shows

Yes! The music for EPCOT Center was inspiring! The sense of grandeur when it played after you walked through the turnstiles set the mood. It miss that these days!

The music fit the theme park and attractions - Inspiring. It still is, in fact. Nothing like listening to the original 28 minute EPCOT Center entrance loop, followed by audio from the Cronkite and/or Irons version of SSE, Horizons, JII....
Everywhere you went in Future World back then (sorry people who don't care about what EPCOT Center was all about, but it's true), you could find inspiration. Sadly, that inspiration died in the mid-to-late 90's, along with a once-great theme park.
