Tony Baxter is a consultant. He isn't really involved in day to day anymore but is at events and what not much like Marty Sklar was still part of the company after his retirement.

I got the impression from the interviews he’s done for The Season Pass that he still comes into the office a couple times a week.

I am sure he does. I guess my point is he isn't a full time employee who is working on major projects so much anymore. He still certainly is involved.

Thanks, after SW8 I was left unhyped for it, and all the mess that happen during production, made me expected to be a failure, I'll give it a chance soon!

Haven't seen Solo yet, but Rogue One is leaps and bounds above TFA and TLJ. Both the casting and story of those two films is so off. I wonder if it's because I'm older now and can better recognize bad acting though. The Harry Potter series (which I still love), is one example of a series that I can't help but notice the poor acting now, particularly Harry, Ron, and Hermione. The supporting cast absolutely makes those movies. Unfortunately, the new Skywalker saga movies are filled with cringy acting across the board.

It was OK (and I'm glad I didn't pay for the ticket, lol).
I'd like to get to the root of why people hate Last Jedi.
I look at films a little differently I guess.
Meanwhile, I'm much more anticipating Christopher Robin.
Solo and especially Boba Fett aren't necessary. But it was better than I expected (still not a high praise). I think I'm just a little burnt out at the moment.

People hate it because of how they handled Luke and the force. There are some other smaller things people hate but thats basically it.

Bingo. That's how I see it and why people hate it. You came right out and said it, lol.
I've taken a different way of looking at things. Is it bad because I didn't like what they did, or is it bad because it really is "bad". It's not a 'bad' movie.

Agreed. I liked the film but I also didn't grow up with the originals. I am part of the new generation of star wars fans. I think messing with Luke as we knew him made a lot of people upset but I also see this trilogy as the swan song to the originals and moving onto the future.

I agree. I didn't grow up, per say, with the originals either. But I saw them before the movies in the 2000s so I've always vastly preferred them. I'm not a big fan of the 'first three' (Phantom Menace, etc.) at all. I've liked and enjoyed all of the new movies though, including Last Jedi (even though I didn't agree with everything). I'd consider myself a fan of the original films but and while I don't love everything in the new movies, I think uber fans are overly invested and get upset when things don't live up to their expectations. I've been there, I know the feeling.
It's one of the reason fans eat up the Marvel movies and come away satisfied. They check off the right boxes to please the fans. And they're pretty decent movies (I like them, but I'm not overly invested - Batman and Superman were my choices growing up along with Spider-Man, which makes sense they were more around in the 80s and 90s on TV and movie screens, so I'm more invested but I love the Marvel Super Heroes too) but I think they're a tad overhyped (the movies, not the characters themselves, lol). I tend to like and the "side" characters movies more, like Guardians, Ant-Man, Black Panther ...
But it's nice the super fans of Marvel get movies that make them happy and live up to their expectations. I'm sure if I read those comics and were more versed in their history I'd be LOVING the movies. They're good and all but it's different when you aren't filled with butterflies in the stomach seeing your favorites come to life and nostalgia, of course, plays a large role. I was grinning like an idiot watching the new trailer for Christopher Robin and seeing the characters come to life. I'm THERE. (So I get it). Personally I think Marvel was perfect for Disney but I know that will irk some ... lol

I'll say that, for me, someone who grew up on the original trilogy as a grade school kid in the mid-90s, the turnoff of Last Jedi is that it kept hinting that it would do some really new, fresh things with the franchise, but ultimately it chickened out on nearly all of them. Force Awakens was a pretty well done retread of A New Hope, but a retread nonetheless; Last Jedi seemed like it was willing to take the series in some radically new directions (I honestly really enjoyed the "Luke has to stop dwelling on his past failure" arc), but by the end we're still stuck with Rebels vs. Empire, Light vs. Dark, and I'm just really bored of that at this stage.
Beyond that, from a narrative standpoint Last Jedi discarded almost everything that Force Awakens set up, which would have been fine if the film had completely committed to radically altering the way Star Wars movies are done, but instead, by returning everything back to square one by film's end, it just has nothing set up for Episode IX...in other words, why did they bother making it at trilogy if they had no overarching narrative in mind?
And yeah, don't get me started on how Poe's hard-headedness nearly killed the rebellion, yet by movie's end Leia's telling people "follow him!" Dude should've been in a brig awaiting court martial, which would've been a more tense set up for the third movie...heck, the heroes having to confront the weight of their failures more would've done that, and made the final shot of the kid with the broom more meaningful.
That said, I hate that so many of the loudest voices I hear decrying Last Jedi seem to be doing it for neanderthal-esque reasons; there were plenty of reasons to criticize it, and unfortunately a lot of its detractors choose to focus on stuff that's either really beyond "is this a good movie or not?" or have to introduce retrograde politics into the discussion.
Good point on Marvel, though; I really don't get excited for those movies anymore (though the Guardians ones are solid), but they know how to elicit the desired response from their fanbase, clearly. They've got a formula, and they know how to use it.

Solo was average and TLJ was a train wreck.
Therefore; Solo > TLJ
There’s better ways to do a swan song. Everyone knew Luke, Han, and Leia wouldn’t last forever but we thought they’d be treated better.

For me, I never connected with Rey, Finn, or Poe. There's nothing that makes me want to root for those characters. That's just me though.

I root for side Marvel characters more than I root for the new main Star Wars characters.
