A new dark ride is coming to Tokyo Disneyland’s Fantasyland, replacing Snow White's Scary Adventures titled Dumbo’s Big Top Adventure, which will joining the classic Dumbo The Flying Elephant for a swinging ride through the Big Top.

Using the rumored Spider Man ride technology (http://www.freepatentsonline.com/y2017/0282085.html), guests will join Dumbo as he flies through the circus fairgrounds, encountering places and things like the Hall of Mirrors, magicians, clowns, trapeze artists and other classic circus elements.

Using state of the art effects like high quality screens, water misters, other 4-D effects, combined with elements of a classic Disney dark ride like animatronics and real life, non-screen, effects, this ride is sure to become an instant hit with guests of all ages.

Bonus: A new Dumbo inspired cupcake will be added to a Big Top Treats snack cart outside of this attraction, where the cupcake is shaped like a circus tent with Dumbo flying above it.

Howl's Magical Quest

1ca38efca364684328762a2db9f2ba4f--howls-moving-castle-hayao-miyazaki.jpg

Distributed by Walt Disney Pictures in the US and produced by Studio Ghibli, Howl's Moving Castle is a Hayao Miyazaki classic film that will be inspired as a dark ride attraction in Tokyo Disneyland's northern most part of Fantasyland in 2022, as part of a continued collaboration between the two studios.

Howl's Magical Quest will be an augmented reality dark ride that allows guests to travel through vignette-like scenes from the film, along with the characters of Sophie, Markl, Howl the powerful wizard, and more on a visually stunning 4D experience. Guests will be able to manipulate their environments, interact with the animatronic characters themselves (in Japanese) as well as enter a branch of Fantasyland dark rides that have not been explored yet in Disney Parks, and what better place to have the original Studio Ghibli dark ride than Tokyo Disneyland opening on Golden Week.

Bonus

動くケーキ "Moving Cake" Ugoku kēki - is a mishapen chocolate pastry item with a creamy rich vanilla filling which resembles Howl's Castle from the film that guests can purchase at the end of the attraction in a small quick service venue.

Stitch's Aloha-venture
download.jpg

Taking over Stitch's Enchanted Tiki Room and one of the theaters from Country Bear Jamboree comes a new, state of the art adventure featuring Stitch and his friends, but don't worry, everything from both old attractions will find a new home. Guests board a spaceship that seems to levitate by balancing on a mildly articulated arm, and watch as Stitch causes mischief and mayhem throughout Lilo's hometown, as guests are recruited to peacefully stop stitch with Jumba and Pleakely. Guests will find themselves in vignettes a series of vignettes that bring this world to life, featuring:
  • Stitch causing a fuss in a forest full of (re-used tiki) birds
  • Havoc at the Hula
  • Stitch tries fire twirling
  • Surfing
  • Stitch goes missing
  • Stitch saves Lilo

MAY

Why settle for one holiday when you can have six? The Emperor’s Birthday, Greenery Day, Showa Day, Constitution Memorial Day, Citizen’s Holiday, Children’s Day! These are the holidays which make up Japan’s craziest week ever –

GOLDEN WEEK

25378936048_1c0023709d_o_d.jpg

Golden Week at the start of May is the absolute worst time to visit Tokyo Disneyland…so that’s exactly where we’re going! Let’s alleviate the completely bonkers Golden Week crowds with a new ride. Tokyo Disneyland, though largely a cloned park, has one specialty – E-ticket Fantasyland dark rides! I’m talkin’ Pooh’s Hunny Hunt, Monsters Inc. Ride ‘n’ Go Seek, and the announced Beauty & the Beast dark ride. Adorable family rides with no expenses spared, with unique elements like trackless vehicles, interactive elements and the finest animatronics.

-Challenge-

Give Tokyo Disneyland its next blockbuster dark ride. It can go anywhere in the park…even into the parking lots behind Fantasyland, since Tokyo has recently announced expanding in that direction.

-Bonus-

With one additional sentence, create a new specialty dessert to go with your ride – because the Japanese love themselves some themed snacks. Doing so will net you an automatic extra point!

-Rules-

You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 image. The deadline is Wednesday, January 24th, at midnight EST.

-Tips-

K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please!

-Judging Criteria-

Is it creative?

Is it (generally) realistic?

Does it fit thematically/visually?

Good luck everyone! If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Now go create!
Expedition: Frontier

Riders go on an adventurous expedition to the farthest reaches of the American West! Breaks apart...

BONUS: Carrots!

The Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

Situated in the back of the park, next to the Haunted Mansion, stands an eerily similar building. Inside, Brom Bones challenges us to witness for ourselves the ghostly tales of Sleepy Hollow. We saddle up on our horses (TRON-style vehicles) in a frenzied race against the Headless Horseman.

Bonus: Jack'o'Lantern cupcakes at the all new Sleepy Hollow Refreshments located right next door to our newest attraction.

WALLE-E’S EXTRODINAR-E ADVENTURE

j9sl8nqyesp0lumndo3x

In this attraction, guests board their vehicles which use amazing hovercraft technology and are designed similar to the iconic chairs from Wall-E.

Upon, leaving the Axiom, we (mankind) have tasked ourselves with cleaning up Earth and atoning for the awful things we did to our beloved planet by zapping the trash boxes (because guests can no longer shoot at the Buzz Lightyear ride, which has been removed to give WALL-E a new home).

The ride has a Horizons feel, as it showcases a possible - greener - future filled with great technology and messages about renewable energy.

Bonus: Walle and Eve shaped Cookies!

Spirited Away: Adventures of Chihiro
1501473118763_Spirited%20Away.png

In Fantasyland, a new abandoned theme park has popped up, inside of a dark ride building; as well as Chihiro and the gang from the hit anime, Spirited Away. This technological trackless dark ride spins, dances, "flies", and even changes colors from red to "invisible" white; very life-like animatronics fill the dark ride as you try to save Chihiro's parents from the other dimension. The main sho-stopper is the grand color finale, where your vehicle turns from red to white and red again as well as the walls changing and vehicles spinning. (It might be obvious that I haven't actually seen the movie, just read summaries and the synopsis... feel free to take away points for that )

Bonus: In a new mini-cafe, guests can wait in line to get a Pretty Sweet Piggy Popsicle, which is shaped like a pig, and can have different facial expressions if requested.

Guests will team up with Sam Flynn as they try to escape the light cycle arena while fighting against Clu.

Bonus:
Nearby guests will find cookies that are designed to look like the identity discs found in Tron: Legacy.

-Figment's Fantastic Flight into Imagination!-

dreamfinder.png

In the back of Fantasyland between Haunted Mansion and the (reduced in size) Wonderland Maze, a more fantastical, colorful (slightly steam punky) version of the iconic glass pyramid of the Imagination Institute houses this new E-ticket ride starring Figment and The Dreamfinder (Based mostly on their comic book versions).

Guests are invited on a tour through the colorful Realm of Imagination (Think of what you would get if Sam Raimi and Ghibli made a world together) with The Dreamfinder and Figment as your guides, but watch out for the giant Dragon of Dreams that attacks guests and our heroes!

The ride system is a large, high capacity suspended cab that slowly moves along the track and is capable of bouncing/shaking (The ride system from the late, great Kongfrontation) to simulate being attacked or grabbed by the Dragon of Dreams, and a mix of large animatronics, practical effects, and large scale projector screens create the environments and brings them to life.

-BONUS-

Near the exit is a cart that will be selling Dream Cloud Cotton Candy which is cotton candy sculpted into fantastic shapes (such as Figment, the Dragon of Dreams, and more!) using a verity of colors and flavors mixed together (inspired by the Cotton Candy Sculptures from the Totti Candy Factory in Tokyo).
