-Coco: Vuelo de los muertos (Flight of the Dead)-

This retheme of Soarin will take guests on fantastic, breathtaking flight around the beautiful Land of the Dead from the hit film Coco.

This ride will celebrate the culture of California's large Hispanic population (the state is right on the border) as well as tie into Pixar's most recent smash hit!

Sure the film is set in Mexico, but if Radiator Springs (explicitly stated to not be in California) is close enough, than Mexico is close enough (besides, the ride goes to the Land of the Dead, not Mexico, and dead people are everywhere).

-Bonus-

Disney's Close Enough to California Adventure of Disney's Dead People are Everywhere Park!
We’ve already seen many non-Californian proposals. Yours justifies it! You acknowledge that Coco is Mexican, and explain how Mexican culture is a major part of California as well. I wholeheartedly agree, and (one defunct tortilla factory tour aside) DCA has rarely addressed Hispanic culture. It’s too bad Soarin’ doesn’t have the Flight of Passage ride system, because it’d be incredible to fly on Pepita’s back! This version works too.

Bonus: DCETCAODDPAEP. Fans will love this acronym! :D

california rescue: starring the rescuers
orville-flights.jpg

replacing soarin' around the world, this new attraction will be based on the underrated classic, the rescuers. Take flight on a new flying device the rescue aid society has created with the help of wilbur as the rescue aid society soar over the sights of california to find a lost little girl and boy. The ending will be the kids being found, and flown back home, safe and sound.
Bonus: the new name of the park will be disney's americana park, focusing more on just california while also not being as controversial of a name as disney's america was.
Another character infusion of Soarin’, this one renewing the original Californian travelogue concept (us locals are still grouchy about its loss). The new queue theming, slowly shrinking guests to mouse-size and setting them on their mission, all that would really improve Soarin’s. And the Rescuers are an international IP, so they fit California naturally enough.

Bonus: Disney’s Americana would nimbly solve DCA’s narrow theme problem without sacrificing the Californian elements. Great!

Inside the Mindscape!

Bugs Land gets a long overdue makeover by changing this larger than life garden into our friend Rileys mindscape from Inside Out. Taking the already existing rides we change Flik's Flyers into Fears flight where we will help fear overcome his... well, fear, of heights; Francis' ladybug boogie turns into Disgusts Dizzying Journey; Princess Dots Puddle Park turns into A Rainy Day with Sadness; Tuck and Roll's Drive em Buggies will be Angers Traffic Tumble, and Heimlich's Chew Chew Train will become A Train of Thought Tour with Joy. And although the It''s Tough to be a Bug theater has been used to run movie previews lately, I will change the theater into an almost Innovations-like space where kids can play on the different mind islands and eat pizza (with and without broccoli) from a new quick service location Called "Brain Food."

Bonus: California Adventure will embrace the trend of movie themes and be renamed to Adventures in the Silver Screen.
Good strategic move claiming Inside Out within, what, minutes after the challenge posted. Unmistakably Californian. Inside Out is actually getting a Bing Bong cotton candy cart in Pixar Pier (yay, let’s all eat the character who made us cry!) but this is better. Would really refresh A Bug’s Land. I love all the ride overlays. One question: Would this still be outdoors? Riley’s Mind feels like an indoors setting, full of A/C, hidden from the Guardians tower.

Bonus: Acknowledging that DCA is becoming Movies Iger Likes Park. Appropriate.

Challenge 3 results!

MLK Day just ended, and we find ourselves here celebrating Cesar Chavez Day two months early. Two great men who spoke for the underrepresented. I love that serendipity!

This was a tricky round, between overlaying existing attractions and picking Californian IPs. DCA is a tricky park. This round saw a bit of early IP poaching, and thinking fast proved decisive. I promise something simpler up next.

(3-WAY TIE! Because I am indecisive.)
@Pionmycake – Coco: Vuelo de los Muertos
@twilight Zone – California Rescue
@pixie_princess – Inside the Mindscape!
Three very different proposals, but both all are strong properties which would fit DCA really well. Hard to pick!

Silver Medal (2 points)

@Disneylover152 – Crush’s EAC Coaster
An incredibly realistic improvement on a ride which sorely needs it.

Gold Medal (3 points)

@spacemt354 – Ant-Man and the Wasp replacing ‘A Bug’s Land’
A sensible overlay which fits the state, the nearby attractions, and DCA’s rumored future plans. Spot on!

CHALLENGE 4
APRIL

When planning this competition, certain months were hard to work with. I mean, Cesar Chavez Day?! (August coming up is a complete mess!) But April, at least, offers up the most obvious holiday choice...on Earth –

EARTH DAY
24383173807_221bb207d9_o_d.jpg

Disney’s Animal Kingdom has been closely connected with Earth Day ever since opening on that date in 1998. Animal Kingdom continues to premiere new attractions on that date…or at least they try to. (Pandora was late.) So what will be the next big DAK project announced for April 22nd? That’s for you to decide!

-Challenge-
For all its recent blockbuster additions, and despite the efforts of Navi River Journey, Animal Kingdom still needs a signature E-ticket family dark ride. That’s what you’ll be creating! It can go in any of the park’s current existing lands, so go wild.

-Bonus-
Sadly, more and more Rainforest Cafés are closing. With one additional sentence, propose a reuse for the Rainforest Café at Animal Kingdom’s entrance. Doing so will net you an automatic extra point!

-Rules-
You may use between 1 and 3 sentences and up to 1 image. The deadline is Saturday, January 20th, at midnight EST.

-Tips-
K.I.S.S. – Keep it simple, silly. Try not to complicate or overthink things too much. It’s a simple, casual competition – there are no eliminations. Propose as you please!

-Judging Criteria-
Is it creative?
Is it (generally) realistic?
Does it fit thematically/visually?

Good luck everyone! If you have questions, don’t be afraid to ask. Now go create!

The Excavator
1516080903265.png

The Chester and Hester's Dino-Rama area has definitely outlived its time. Going in that area will be the originally planned ride, The Excavator, bring a second coaster to the park to alleviating some of the wait time for Everest. The Excavator will take guests through a large, excavated area where the ride vehicles will transport large amounts of dinosaur bones; of course, guests would need to go through these bones to pick them up.

Bonus: The Rainforest Cafe will be replaced with a new restaurant that is an AA style restaurant with each area in the restaurant representing a different land within the Animal Kingdom.

Prehistoric World Adventure

cap934854LARGE.jpg

replacing part of chester and hester's, this spiritual successor to universe of energy's dinosaur scene and world of motion will take guests through an equally realistic and cartoonishly quirky prehistoric setting to see realistic dinosaur animatronics. The cartoonishness will keep guests from falling asleep like they did for universe of energy, while it will still be realistic enough to have some educational value to it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
bonus: rainforest cafe will be replaced by a revamp of the tahtian terrance, with a tiki room style show hanging above the guests and dancers.

Can we replace a current existing ride? If not, I have some sort of idea.

Battle of the Dragons

278

Bringing back a portion of a DAK original idea, Battle of the Dragons has you right in the middle of a dragon battle, in 3D. Guests will file into a Star Tours ride "vehicle", then be whisked on their way right into a great 3D experience; the vehicles also have smellitizers (like Main Street, they fake the good smells) and surround sound, which makes a great experience for anyone. This ride will be to the right of Dinosaur, with a little courtyard.

Bonus: The Rainforest Cafe will turn into a Mayan Temple restaurant, with special shows on stage, as well as tons of AAs; in short, sort of like the Jungle Cruise temple interior at MK.

Mines of Kali
Replacing Flights of Wonder is an exciting E-ticket caliber dark ride taking you down to see the magical mines of Asia with enchanting creatures and scenery, but be warned: bad mining practices have been a danger to the creatures within the Earth, and not all of them are happy about it as the legend goes. Riders ride in slow-moving cable cars that take you farther down than you can possibly imagine; yet the high-stakes nature of the attraction can be enjoyed by all ages as it's about as rough as Kilimanjaro Safaris. Using state-of-the-art technology, the ride will make people feel as though they are actually miles below the Earth!

BONUS With a demo of The Rainforest Café, is a new jungle/temple-plaza that boasts savory food huts with the flavors of The Amazons of South America, but will also feature streetmosphere such as bellydancers and beautiful music.

-Bare Necessities River Boat Cruise-

The-Bare-Necessities.jpg

Replacing the Kali River Rapids in Asia, the Bare Necessities River Boat Cruise will utilize a splash boats ride system (like the Jurassic Park Boat Ride in Islands of Adventure) to take guests on an amazing indoor/outdoor E-ticket dark ride experience with just enough thrills spice things up.

Guests float past scenes from the movie in a peaceful, outdoor jungle setting before entering a temple (show building) where state of the art dark ride animatronics and effects immerse guests in King Louie's swinging kingdom.

An encounter with Shere Khan while climbing a lift hill adds a little tension before the big drop and splash down into the lagoon below.

-Bonus-

Rainforest Cafe will be replaced by a new version of Rafikis planet watch and the facilities found there freeing up that large chunk of in park space for future expansion.

Zootopia: Pursuit of Adventure
720x405-zootopia.jpg

Located in Rafiki's Planet Watch in the northern most walkable zone in Disney's Animal Kingdom, Zootopia: Pursuit of Adventure takes place after the events of the $1 Billion+ grossing 2016 film, Zootopia, where we meet up with Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps on their first case after Nick graduates the Zootopia Police Academy and becomes Judy's partner.

Your journey begins aboard the re-themed Wildlife Safari train into the sleek, modern train from Zootopia, which enhances the ride to the now re-named 'Planet Watch' vet and petting center, with digital screens displaying our travel to an urban hospital of Zootopia, where we disembark to help Nick and Judy crack a new environmental threat to the city inhabitants.

Boarding miniature police cars, you embark on a thrilling chase through the different ecological environments of Zootopia using a ride system similar to Test Track, as you attempt to catch the predators and meet some of your favorite characters such as Flash the sloth along the way, with the original Planet Watch locale acting as a complimentary message of conservation and environmental protection that the Zootopia attraction will convey.

Bonus
In the jungles of the Oasis, Harrison Hightower III opens a decadently extravagant haunted restaurant and bar with his collection of findings throughout the world scattered around.
