It already looks better than Simpson but don't go in expecting something like the lands at Animal Kingdom (sans DinoLand). The aesthetic is going to be very far from any sort of realism.

Yeah...I wasn't thinking it was going to look like an African village ;), but as long as it isn't plastic and shows a generational improvement from Suess including some real plants where appropriate...I'm all in.

Gotta keep that margin up cutting park hours is one way to do it, Even back in 2015 MK was regularly open till 1-2 AM during summer.

I went to DAK yesterday and saw Pandora. The videos don't do it justice. The queue lines are both really cool. FOP obviously had the better one but I enjoyed the river journey more. The glasses are really weird for FOP but the movie is great. I actually agree with the choice of a simulator bc it fits with the story line. The canteen is great. I'm a meat and potatoes guy, so you know what I ordered. Speaking of ordering, I did mine on the app. I did it at the canteen and the Pizzafari restraunt. Both times were extremely quick, the order was correct and actually saved time. I can't wait to try it at a busy restraunt like Pecos Bill. I think once more APs like me start to catch on though, the mobile order speed will slow down. Overall though, I will definitely use mobile ordering rather than standing in line. Back to the land, there is a lot of cool places to explore. The live entertainment with the drums is really cool and like the rest of DAK parties involves guests. They had the steam on Everest working! Single rider lines are a blessing. Also the bridge wasn't working on the safari (it didn't shake, it's an on and off thing, a month ago it worked yesterday it didn't). The only complaint I have of the park as a whole is a result of the level of theming: pushing my 93 year old grandmother is super bumpy because of how well it is themed. It's a trade off that doesn't affect most people, but it makes DAK, my favorite park, her least favorite. As a result we only go once a month compared to MK and Epcot which we visit often. One last thing, the cups in Pandora were DL resort cups!

I agree but they simply have to start making better movies. I don't think anything Illumination have done even touches Pixar or Disney Animations poorer work. Dreamworks cashed in with Shrek and have made a series of awful cash in films after the first (and arguably second) films. Minions...I just don't get it. One decent but unspectacular film, followed by 2 shockers. And I love an animated film.

The crowds are still expected to be at AK for Pandora. When AK has EMHs it will be the latest park open on some nights this summer.

In recent years they have listed the shorter hours and then extended closer to the month. There was a similar discussion last year and some of the hours did eventually get extended. It's getting pretty late in June though so maybe not this year.

Whichever dysfunctional cooks were in the kitchen - Edwards, Gilroy, Kennedy, Knoll - for Rogue One, the end result was the first Star Wars film I found genuinely great and exhilirating as an adult (last one being Jedi, and I was a little kid). Funny how great films sometimes come about due to intense friction between the Studio and Director ("Gladiator" being an example.)

Most of the reshoots (which were in the schedule anyways like most movies being made these days. They have them for the sake of things coming to mind on how to improve during editing) were tied to base/ship dialog and a few other things. Vader in the hallway was one of the bigger things to come out of the reshoots. Original ending was Raddus facing his arrest and presumable execution with dignity while the Tantive got away.

Part of why there's so much stuff in the trailers that wasn't in the movie is related to how Edwards directs. Likes trying things on the fly and experimenting on set with visual ideas, hence that teaser shot of Jyn in the TIE Pilot disguise or Jyn walking to face that TIE was just something that the effects team thought was cool enough to finish up and put in the trailer for the sake of having a cool shot in the trailer.

Reshooting 2/3rds of your movie with another director is not normal. Replacing your director(s) this late in the game is bonkers.

[Justice League is an entirely separate and tragic circumstance that has nothing to do with tentpole filmmaking]
[I'm aware of Edward's "Indie Hour" shoots]
