If you saw the boxed dinners they're selling for $12.99 you wouldn't say that.

I'm not going to make this into a water thread, but, now Disney is supposed to give out free food because there is a hurricane approaching Florida? I guess I don't understand what the problem is. If they were home they would have to eat wouldn't they. And they would have to pay for whatever food that they consume wouldn't they? I am not trying to be difficult I just don't understand why that is a problem. I'm sure it costs Disney a lot to prepare and package just in labor alone, so considering the expense, it would seem that $13.00 is a bargain at WDW. I also heard that they are comping a lot of rooms. Seems like that should be worth something.

Yep. :/ Hope so too. With the chances of the storm making a U-turn and coming back I wonder if that played into the decision to cancel? Usually when they are gone they don't rebound. Sucidoodles. Glad they are still having some fun. I guess the bartenders are pouring with a heavy hand at most of the lounges tonight. At the Poly the cancelled Luau is being performed in the the lobby. Nice.

Did Disney give any kinda comp for closing early with park tickets?

I'll keep the kiddos in my prayers.

Not sure about any Disney comps, but, they haven't mentioned any. The cruise line offered them a full refund or a 150% credit for a future cruise. They took the refund.

Yep, if that thing were to go up and then make a u-turn back south to hit places it already has, or even loop back across Florida, that would just be nutso.

Did I say ANYTHING about it be free? Don't put words into my mouth boyo. I DO think it is frickin' redonkulous to pay $12.99 for a kindergarten style plain bologna sandwich, apple, pretzel and cookie plus extra for a drink.

When that kindergarten is in WDW....I think that is a bargain compared to their standard price structure.

So true. Universal closed around Noon. Wanted their staff to be able to get home ahead of the rain. Nice gesture.

I still wonder how much emergency staff stayed inside for emergency stuff.

Oldest DD sent out a snap chat a few hours ago...they're havin' a Mojito, Margarita, Hurricane party at their friends house in Orlando...
I've been posting a little in the Hurricane Matthew thread, but, I don't think I've mentioned here that their cruise was, of course, cancelled.
Their friend has graciously offered to put them up for their entire stay through Monday night, along with 2 other ladies from their group that were with them in Epcot today. One from Canada, and one from Scotland.
They plan on hitting MK on Sun. Or Mon. Fingers crossed.
I pray our silly girls stay safe, as it looks like the storm may have taken a bit of a western hop.

you know, speaking of cruise cancellations.. do they move the ships out of the port?
I mean.. I dont think there are much protections for ships of the size of the OASIS in a port.

My car just took 20.3 gallons of gas. It's a 20 gallon tank.

That means:

1. The pump is not calibrated.
2. they uncalibrated it on purpose to charge you more by giving less (very usual trick here in Mexico, where they give you only 90% of what you buy).

bargain or not, its still some sort of abuse. Because the guests are TIED DOWN to the resort and cannot leave (think of it as a weather resulted prison) nor order outside food.
Some price mark is good. But I dont think these kind of lunches are even 5 USD.

Sorry, I wasn't attempting to put words in your mouth, I was asking. I don't know what was provided in the box lunches, but, considering how much it must have cost them to staff the place to put them together it doesn't seem all that bad, again considering it is in WDW and also considering how much they would have paid for a meal if there wasn't a storm coming in. Even the items, which I will take your word for was bologna sandwich, etc. as I don't know what they consisted of, but, I'd think that there was more then one choice, just a guess. I'd be amazed if Disney even had Bologna on the premises or certainly enough to feed a lot of people. It must be some kind of loaves and fishes miracle.

The filler hose holds fuel as well. It extends from the gas cap down to the tank and is somewhere around an inch and a half in diameter....

I've read two different times they closed. Disney has quite a bit of staff that volunteered to stay put. I guess if you are single without family Disney structures are built to withstand, likely a good place to hunker down. And at least they have back up lights.

We did one aftermath years ago and if I remember correctly two parks did open the next day. Food was down, most resorts buildings didn't have power. Me, I went to vendy machine in hallway (bonus of non electric back in the day) bought junk for everyone to eat and it was before Disney had coffee pots in room, so I always packed my 4 cup perk coffee pot. I went and found an area that had power, plugged it in, brewed several pots, poured in refill mugs for me and grandparents. I was loved. Giving your kids Pop for breakfast

I agree I will usually pick chocolate over any other type of candy but every once and a great while non-chocolate candy is good.

Beyond my favorite chocolate (mildly-sweet dark), I really like Skittles!
For a time, a while back, I was getting them pretty regularly...regular, sour, tropical, etc. l haven't bought any in a while though...sooo many empty calories...

She tried out and so did most of the fifth grade. They could only take four spots and she didn't make it this year. She received an excellent on trumpet and flute. Not what she wanted but it's a start.

Sorry she didn't make the drumline, but, that is still a big accomplishment with the excellents. I know you're proud of her, and she should be proud of herself...!
