Happy 4th of July!!!!


Last full day at WDW! We have a half day tomorrow. We are trying to do 4 parks on the 4th! We will see how that goes

We just got a call from my aunt. My step grandfather passed this morning.

I'm so sorry. Was he sick?

I'm not much of a drinker, but, I just found myself with a bottle of Amaretto Liqueur. I don't have any idea how it is used? Can it be consumed alone, on the rocks or is it more of a mix with other things kind of animal? I found it in the back of my cupboard because I apparently got it as a gift from a friend and hauled it to NC when I moved. I think I had it a couple of years previous to my moving. Tells you how much I consume doesn't it?

I love Amaretto...either by itself or mixed with OJ. Or, I also like it with OJ, a splash of grenadine and some cream.

You go, girl !!! I wish you and your hubby a very happy 4th at WDW--you're so lucky!! Hope you still try to pace yourselves a little with the sun and humidity down there, though. And I also hope you two get to ride at least one coaster (Space Mountain might be the coolest indoors for today). Lastly, yesterday, hubs and I rode a mountain coaster out in western MA. It was even WAY more THRILLING than the coasters at Disney!!! It's the longest mountain coaster ride in the States, and I was scared, but still loved it! HA!

Thank you. He was nearly 100, so it's not completely unexpected, but I had called my grandmother right before we left, and she said he had been doing well, so it's sudden. My grandmother found him unresponsive this morning, she called 911, and they got him to the hospital, and he passed later today.

He was 99 and hadn't been doing well for a while, but he had been doing better. They weee talking about him not needing the nursing care at home anymore, and he always expected to keep going. It was both expected and unexpected at the same time.

How is your Grandmother holding up?

Mentally preparing for this for a while, I think. But I'm not sure it will really sink in quite yet. Right now, her friends and stepchildren are with her. My aunt is driving up and staying with her this week, my uncle is coming later this week. I think it will really hit her when suddenly everything calms down and regular life resumes and she's in that house all by herself that it will hit.

I am a bit concerned over how she'll handle all of this. She had been talking about moving to SC after all of this. One, she hates the heat. Two, she wants to move closer to my aunt and the grandkids she's raising, but there's no guarantee they won't eventually move back with their parents, nor does my aunt have the time or energy to care for my grandmother and her grandkids, and my cousins have their families as well. Three, she's got a house she can live in until she dies, a social circle up in PA, and my parents and I are only about 45 minutes away. At least for now, she needs to stay put, but we're all worried about what kind of ideas she'll get in her head after the initial shock wears off.
