Yep, you know I can do without the cheese too, but it always gave it that extra bit of zing for me.
At brunch today there was one of the best pepper jack cheeses I've ever had. Cheese itself was excellent but hit had a better than most kick that snuck up on ya. Wanted to smuggle some home. Sadly I don't carry a purse so no way to smuggle.

Definitively a feast!It was a foodfest this weekend. Jason's Del-salad bar and rueben, Longhorn Steakhouse the large ribeye, potato asparagus, sauteed onion mushroom. Kenturky Derby party with a catered Pig Roast Feast. And brunch today, Sweet Baby Ray's. The man who created the sauce still operates several restuarants in Chicagoland. Skipped the breakfast stuff and went for Meatloaf, St. Louis BBQ Ribs, Prime Rib, carved turkey, ham off bone, Salmon, Dessert Bar, Baked Beans, Corn Chowder Asparagus again, mashed potato and a wee bit of salad and ended with a cheese plate.
Weather was beautiful so Walt got many walks and I got to ride my new bike a few times. Went to see my Dad yesterday both good and bad with that then brought my Mom a flower basket and went out to dinner with her.
I avoided looking at the Pig Roast in process. No photo's.He had his own tent.

I also went to a restaurant, had my favorite steak at Outback's.
Tomorrow It will be my turn to invite my mother to eat to a restaurant.

We're having lunch with my mom and then DD and I may make a jaunt to Disneyland afterward, since we are now Deluxe AP holders. Woot!

We kept going between Longhorn and Outback, about the same all and all but believe it or not the parking was the deciding factor. My Mom is in the OHare Airport demographic. Parking an issue as it is in a hotel.

We did make the jaunt but only for a few hours, as lunch went later than expected and DD got tired. But a quick trip is better than none!

I'm a bit of a sad mommy today. We took my baby shopping for summer attire and he got everything from the men's departmentThe kicker was while we were at the mall he asked us not to walk too close to him
He spotted one of his buddies and wound up hanging out with her for a while until her mom told her they had to finish shopping. Teenagers
Oy. Now that is a chore on Mother's Day. I had that with my son. We use to shop on week nights to avoid the mall bump into friends thing. Until his 11 inch growth spurt in under a year shopping was difficult for him. That year was a fortune in clothing and shoes. I'd just get him lined up and we'd start all over again.
DD was very different. We were always joined at the hip, still are. Likely cause she never really needed a Mom, an advocate yet but she was always centered, never did that hormonal thing young teens girls generally do. She was academically focused and her IQ was so high she just had the wherewithal to be on path. So we were always more buddies than Mom vs DD. Manchild never caused me any trouble, he knew better but boy I needed to pay attention to his focus on the end goals or he'd still be backpacking throughout Europe. Giggle.
Was happy when that one finished college and figured things out. On the flip side he has had an exciting fun young life.

And on a different note that is why I liked these trips to Disney as our kids aged. Nobody knew them there so they were free to have fun without the need to be on guard of their reputation with their friends. I loved being able to let the two of them go off and have some time and we had a break from lots of togetherness. Other times my DD and I'd go off and let the guys have man time. Usually they'd land at ESPN at some point and take in a football or baseball game. It really is a great place for family vacations. I remember one year mid vacation sitting by the resort pool and they went to Blizzard Beach. Hours of relaxing. Nice.

Too funny. DD just asked today if she can get a goldfish.
We had goldfish that outlasted the turtle. They were feeder goldfish. They out smarted fate. They grew almost 8 inches. We'd put them out for the summer. I'd say we had the two of them about a decade.

Yikes! I just looked at the 15 day. That is warm for May. Hide bye the pool mid afternoon or at Springs.

I've always had problems staying asleep, even as a child. When I was young, it manifested in waking every hour or so then going back to sleep. My body adjusted to this. As I've gotten older, it's progressed to being able to go to sleep then waking three or so hours later. Sometimes, I'm able to fall back to sleep around five or six for a short time. This has been going on for around ten years. Meds and alternative herbs and such don't work. The only thing that helped made me feel terrible the next day. I do much better with less sleep than with meds. I basically learned to live with less sleep. And, if I'm tired during the day, I stop what I'm doing and rest. I used to watch the shopping channels. Who knew how many things we need ;-) . Now, I watch dvd's or get on here. I used to get up and clean or iron, but I've found staying in bed and watching TV or a DVD on low, let's my body rest.
Thank goodness my son and daughter don't have any problems sleeping.
My mother only sleeps about four hours a night so maybe it is passed down.
I do sleep much better in Disney
I think I solved my insomnia with a great deal of exercise during the day. It went on for several years. I still have a TV going on throughout the night though. I function well with 5 hours of sleep but 6 or 7 is much better for me. More than seven I don't sleep the next night. I was given a fitbit for my birthday and I was surprised at how much I now move during the day. I also eat less and better which seems to have helped. I too never had issues sleeping at Disney. Kinda documents my own theory for myself.

This photo brings back frustrating moments with my MIL. She HATES that nurses dress in scrubs these days. She believes nurses are more professional in little white dresses and white little crowns on their heads, clean white dress shoes. Gets angry with athletic shoes or crocs that nurses dare to wear.
Nothing like trying to hoist a patient out of bed in a dress and wearing nice shoes while on your feet all day. When I was a little girl the world changed and girls were ALLOWED to wear pants and shorts. Before that time church and school girls had to wear dresses or skirts even with the harsh weather we had. My Mom also would not reliant on this even though there were now uniform options. She looked at it as a reflection on HER how she sent my Sis and I to school.
I was in 6th grade and my Sis in 3rd grade when my Mom became very ill and was hospitalized for many months leaving my inept Dad to care for us on his own. Ironing dress uniforms was not going to happen. He took us shopping for the approved alternative shorts and slacks and polo type tops that were mostly wash and wear. When my Mom returned she attempted to restore order and return us to refined young ladies. It was a lost cause. A bit of it stuck and a bout with finishing school did happen. Still we have those 'events' where she requests we attend just sooooo...and she takes us shopping for proper shoes and dresses for those events. I walk away with a couple of dresses and a couple pairs of shoes that cost dramatically more than I'd ever spend in a year in a wardrobe and I buy expensive running shoes. Though I still protest I have to admit some of those fancy expensive dress shoes are works of art. They line my closet shelves and I wear out my gym shoes.

I agree, also some goldfishes can grow biiiig. And some can be aggressive.
My doctor has one that just couldn't stop growing. Until she was told she needed to use a fixed sized tank and the fish will stop growing. It did.. and he's hilarious (believe it or not, he learned to smile when people approached... and followed them around the tank). But also was aggressive with other fish.. so he was left alone in a big tank! Now he plays a lot by throwing stones left and right.
