As we got in our teens, Mom thought no one should leave the house without make up. After hearing about animal testing, and harmful chemicals. I said no way.
Huh...my mom didn't let me wear makeup. I remember once when I was 17 or 18 and my mom had told me I could wear a little bit to the school dance. I put on a bit of eyeliner and that was it and I was leaving and my mom said "Don't you think you have a bit too much makeup on?" and I said "nope!" and walked out the door before she could tell me to go wash it off.

Oh, stepgrandfather update:
It's been a long haul, but he's doing much better. He's in rehab right now, but my grandmother says they think he will be able to go home next week. Yea! They were concerned because his blood pressure was dropping when he would stand. My grandmother has a friend who is a pharmacist, and her friend thought about the fact that it could be one of his medications. When her friend went over his medication list, she determined the culprit and gave his doctor an alternative medication idea. He went on the other medication and is no longer having that problem. So that is very good news and quite a relief
That is awesome to hear! :)

That is very lucky. I think a lot of time it depends on what you do. For me, holidays are very important work days. (But I do get 29 days of paid vacation a year so I can hardly complain.) And I know in retail, inventory happens a lot at the end of the year. In other professions, there are other needs then. So long as you know these things when you sign on, it shouldn't be a problem.

Holy smokes. Sign me up at your job. I have 0.

Hi? I'm trying to enter the chit chat thread without making any loud noises.
I'm here. Me thinks.
I made a post this morning before my day turned insane (two kids, three costumes).
I just logged on again with the kids and the man fast asleep and you all have done three pages since my post this morning!
I have no point. I was just thinking maybe this might be a relaxing place to just talk to adult people who like to have fun and step away from work for a minute now and then during the day.
I've been looking for that for a while.
So Hi. I'm Sabrina. I love Disney trips. Found it quite by accident when my husband (then boyfriend) and I were invited to a wedding. Why? I asked....would adults go to Disney? Been hooked ever since.
We don't always "adult". That's no fun. ;) :D

I did the profile and looked at the FAQs and it says it's for children and parents, too. There's even a separate profile quiz for children to do. I want to do it with my kids. I think my daughter is a time person, but she's also very physical...she loves to snuggle up and watch a movie with me. I'm not sure with my son. He's definitely NOT physical. I think he's more of a words kid, but he might also be quality time. Fascinating stuff. Thank you for the link!

Oh, thanks for letting me know! I had only heard it was for spouses, but I'll definitely check out the parent one, too.

My dh is lucky he can take off almost anytime he wants with some notice:joyfull:

That's how it is at my work, too. I'm definitely not chained to my desk, which is one of the main reasons why I've stayed for 15 years.

It was great when DD was in preschool because we could take vacations during non-peak periods (i.e., not summer or Christmas break). Now that she's in school, we'll be traveling along with everyone else. :banghead:
