I've never seen one of their annual reports; just would never think to go look for it. Then again, I'm not a stockholder, or on any of their other mailing lists. I was intrigued reading your comments about the ones from the 80s and 90s though. Those really sound like some of my favorite periods in Disney, and their AR apparently reflected that with regard to what was coming, photos and concepts. Those must have been a joy to read.

The annual reports were fun. Data mixed in with upcomings. It was about 1/3 inch bound paper back book. Kinda wish I saved a few. We are stock holders as are each of my kids. Back in the day if you were a stockholder you automatically received a 10% discount on vacations. Of course it was a win win. For as long as our trips were it paid for the stock. We thought we'd give our kids that legacy too for their families many years out....of course that was a perk Disney discontinued, like many others.

Hi? I'm trying to enter the chit chat thread without making any loud noises.
I'm here. Me thinks.
I made a post this morning before my day turned insane (two kids, three costumes).
I just logged on again with the kids and the man fast asleep and you all have done three pages since my post this morning!
I have no point. I was just thinking maybe this might be a relaxing place to just talk to adult people who like to have fun and step away from work for a minute now and then during the day.
I've been looking for that for a while.
So Hi. I'm Sabrina. I love Disney trips. Found it quite by accident when my husband (then boyfriend) and I were invited to a wedding. Why? I asked....would adults go to Disney? Been hooked ever since.

how opportunistic!
it means fate wants you to chunk the candy! :p

This year knowing an all day rain was coming I bought more snacks than candy. Cheetos, M&M Cookies, Minion Roll Ups and a big box of red twizzler licorice. We have a chunk of trick or treaters that arrive in my neighborhood by the vanload & even their parents have bags. :cautious:

For those who drive in from out of town I bought the Twizzlers. Easily 20 people roll out of the full size vans and invade the neighborhood. Most of the families I know or at least recognize. When I see 10-20 at my door step and the parents are trick or treating it is an immediate read flag to not a community event. Took a couple years but I caught on. :cyclops:

....in keeping with what you all were talking about since I posted "Happy Halloween" this morning--
My child's school does not allow any celebration of Halloween :(

Our condo community does not allow trick or treating........ "any homeowner allowing trick and treat seekers to enter the building via disabling the lock system will be fined"

My girls had to go to their grandparents' neighborhood to trick or treat. We did have fun.

What "little time" I have?
Am I dying?
Thank you for telling me.

Do you mean because I said about wanting to check in during the day at work for a minute? No. No. I can invest more than that. I just meant it would be a sweet pick me up at those hectic times. I can come by at other less hurried times.

Yes, my MIL condo that she had owned is also considered a secure building as is my adult daughters apartment. Her building does have a first floor area where treats are handed out though. Oy. Our district still does halloween in its full glory. We are a tiny town that isn't overly diverse so for now we still get away with it. I'm sure in time that too shall end.

Hi Sabrina and welcome! Yes, we are quite the chatty group here. But definitely fun!

@Gabe1... My sister lives in a neighborhood.... I'm not sure what you call it (I live in a city so sometimes suburb lingo evades me) it's like a planned community. Like 150 houses with private streets and shared ball fields. Anyway-- on Halloween cars, vans, vehicles of all kinds pull in to her neighborhood and groups of children get out and go door to door ringing for candy. No one knows where they come from. We've surmised that maybe they live in rural areas where trick or treating isn't productive?

This happens in my neighborhood. Many are from neighborhoods where it isn't safe to trick or treat. I had about 200 - 250 Trick or Treaters, most in groups of 20 - 30, including adults & teenagers; some with siblings, some without. I turned off the lights at 8:30 - they started coming at 6.

It was similar in our previous neighborhood, which is in the suburbs, and it was mostly families trick or treating together, rather than groups of children. I'm guessing they came from less affluent neighborhoods, though. But for the most part they were polite and appreciative, so it felt nice to be able to provide some fun and treats for them.

I appreciate every one's concern, including yours...we live and have to move on. I'm understanding that more and more. But, I'm going to walk down the street and ask if the paid shelter would like to have someone to take out their animals, and play with them. Kitty's that stay in, I would love to cuddle! It's worth a try, I will understand, if they reject this idea, as they have insurance concerns. People are willing to sue over the littlest thing. They do have a fenced in area, but if one should escape while I was playing with them could cause trouble. I liked the days when people were not looking for a way to cause a lawsuit. I'll let everyone know how it works out. They are only a half mile away.

Most good shelters have volunteers that they count on for the well being of their rescues. One near us asks for dog walkers. I volunteered for many years and had my own little niche I took care of for them. Every little bit helps getting these little fur balls adopted out. That is what some families are looking for when adopting a pet

Me despite my donation of time have never adopted one. I have always had a breed in mind for my families given needs and what would work for us. The only Pup I adopted was a dog I adopted from a family that medically couldn't care for him. He was only 4 months old and I knew his parents. He was a perfect match for the other golden we already had. So often it is a bad match for family dynamics that these poor pups wind up in shelters.

Well... I've only been here for a half a month myself... and I would LOVE to always be all Princess and Manners, however there have been a few posts where I've just needed to chime in and be like all GRRRR

Yes, I totally know what you're talking about. But unless someone is responding directly to one of my posts, I usually ignore the haters and trolls. Seems like it doesn't matter what you say, they will always think the contrary. That's why I like this thread so much. There may be differences, but we do our best to agree to disagree to keep the peace. :cat:

I thought that title belonged to Valentine's Day. (Sorry, never been a fan of V-day, and now it just reminds me of when my mom passed away.)
Isn't it awful that we sometimes associate holidays with the sickness/passing of our loved ones?

I dislike Hallowe'en because it is the day that my dad's cancer manifested itself, and then this Thursday, we mark the 4th anniversary of my mom's early check-out. :(

So far, I'm still good with Valentine's Day, although it's no biggie around here. Every day is "I love you more than anything day". February 14th is just a reason for florists to charge triple for flowers.

It was kind of you to contribute. It's expensive to partake. I'm sure that you made a nice impression on a lot of children who otherwise had no where to go.

Agreed. A candy bar is a small thing to give but for some kids the gesture is huge..

I like what you say here....
This is going to totally sound dumb.... BUT
I always feel like the start of a new month is a fresh start. My goal for November is to be more open. Stop talking, Sabrina!!!! Let people approach me with their thoughts.....listen. So.............that's kind of more to do with my life than with this thread but maybe some of you are thinking the same way? I just always love a FIRST of a month. I feel like I can erase stuff and start over.
