Frozen ride replacing Maelstrom?

I figured is was more rumor and maybe someone like yourself with some people you talk to.

I still don't know if it will happen in the end. I just hope not.

Frozen deserves more then a over lay of a few characters or use of the limited space in Norway.

Was that the actual refurb of the waterfall or the fixing of the leaks underneath it? I loose track with this one...

Both I think but probably the leaks issue, it has been ongoing for how many months or years now?

the splashing waves at the seas dont work either, cant remember last time they did, they water creek is dry in front of the land,,,the wilderness lodge lobby water feature is under refurb,,the polynesians being dismantled,,,,maybe we need a water feature thread.

One thing they have changed is the splashing waves in Maelstroms oil rig room, if you sit in the front row you get drenched now in fact when you board the boat its soaked/flooded,,, they really pumped up the strength in there on both the left and right sides.

As a former educator, I know that kids are fascinated with the world around them and love to learn. What made Epcot so great was that it was like walking into a large hands-on and immersive classroom. All the disciplines were present: science, arts, history, math, language, humanities. The kids were learning without realizing it.

TDO seems to be taking away what made it unique and turning it into another park with a focus on characters. Maelstrom doesn't need to turn into another Gran Fiesta Tour (sorry, Mexico, that your beautiful country and culture had to be dumbed down to a cartoon). Keep the cultural integrity of the Maelstrom ride!

The heck would TDO do with the way Maelstrom begins? Have an Elsa head sing "Let It Go" while she flashes her Gazer Beam eye at you?

According to the rumors I've heard, the post-overlay Maelstrom will both board and unload from the current unload area (in order to better accommodate ECVs), so the Frozen overlay will begin with a new, large-ish show scene(s) in the area currently used for boarding and queue.

While I completely agree with you the Walt Disney Company does not. It's a lot harder to create an interesting educational attraction. It's doable but it's easier, cheaper and more profitable for Disney to just stick a few characters around and call it a day.

Correct, and that's what makes so many people sad and longing for the splendor of 90's Epcot.

Absolutely it needs more than this. A purpose built area in the correct park.

Right now it's more than a rumour but not yet a done deal. So far as I know.

Exactly. And I second The Empress Lilly's sentiment.

Agreed. Likely they will need some major changes to the queue and load/unload or things will get out of hand. Unfortunately there's no easy way to expand or lengthen the ride itself. One thing they could do is reconfigure the queue so that it enters from some of the backstage areas to the side of and/or behind the show building.

Someone has already suggested that they could (and are planning to?) use the current theater as a new queue area and make the current unload into a combined load/unload. Then the vehicles travel to the current load which could be the first show scene before the lift hill and the rest of the ride.

Not saying it will happen, but there's a certain logic and that puts the queue entirely inside.

I honestly think the project's status changes on a weekly basis. Here me now and believe me later, listen to me sometime, but take a note of it now: I've been told to ride it on my trip in August like it's my last time, because once it closes in the fall, it won't return until it returns as a mix of Frozen and Norway. Others have basically said this same thing in the thread in the pages before. Basically, as of now, it's happening. Like I said in the first sentence, things change rapidly, but that's the news I have obtained in the last week. Whether that continues to be the case is anyone's guess.

Nothing really new, we knew about Frozen, and SW was a given by 2019 (most insiders have been saying we won't see it until then). Soarin' was known. I'd hoped there'd be more new stuff. Hopefully HTF comes here and posts some more details. Epcot needs more than Frozen/Soarin and Hollywood Studios needs more than just SW.
