IoA hasn't had an attraction close since Triceratops Encounter. Jaws closed because something significantly better was to take its spot. Kong was an unfortunate cost cutting measure under bad times and bad leadership.

Thankfully the last one will be rectified next year.

Anyone I explained the scenario to agreed that $2 billion was way too much money to spend on something like that...and when I explained that DAK and DHS could have been built with that kind of money, people realized there should be more attractions. One guy even said they should've spent it on building two new parks. (I don't agree with that)

A Frozen Ride in 2015, and a Soarin redo in 2016....Epcot is set for major additions/upgrades over the next two years.

Those wouldn't be major additions...minor additions/upgrades sure.

So even when Universal had bad leadership they still made smarter decisions than the current WDW leadership. If only Maelstrom was being replaced by something on the scale of The Mummy (and thematically fitting, of coarse).

To me, live shows don't count as attractions. They run on a limited schedule, almost never in the evenings, and because of how damn many of them there are in Studios, you can count the things to do later in the day there on a single hand.

I really enjoy the attraction, but cohesive theme is not something to be found at Revenge of the Mummy.

Right. The Kong decision was probably a bad one, but Mummy is just as good of an attraction. In fact, Universal does a pretty bang-up job of replacing their attractions with stuff just as good, if not better.

I didn't criticize Universal for overlaying attractions, but they are doing the same thing Disney is getting criticized for. The one plus is that Disney still has classic attractions, while Universal guts all their rides every 10-15 years.

Disney clearly likes to keep things more family-oriented. All of their rides pretty much follow this policy, with the exception of Aerosmith and Tower of Terror at DHS. Universal goes for attracting everything, families, youngsters, thrill-seekers, etc. If you look at Gringotts, Forbidden Journey, Mummy, etc, those rides are so high quality that it makes my entire family, from 7 to 40, want to go there first. We love Disney more than Universal for the overall experience, but Universal blows Disney out of the water with their rides.

Why won't Disney continue with the thrill ride idea at DHS? They can make that park just as strong as USF or IoA. Thats not a rhetorical question. Someone please explain to me why they dont go that route to keep up... is it just money? Or something else?

The parade is what it is. The night show is easily the second best in Orlando, IMHO

Others have given the night show a thumbs up. My wife and I both thought it paled in comparison to Illuminations, Wishes, whatever the castle projection show is currently called, Fantasmic, and going to see to a movie.

We have another trip in September to Uni, so we may give the show another shot.

These impromptu surveys are meaningless to the conversation, in my opinion. Regardless of which side of the conversation that you are on, it's somewhat likely that you are going to end up with results that support your opinion.

My parents went to Uni last year and felt that both the parade and night time show at USF paled in comparision to Disney offerings. They enjoyed a lot of what Uni offered, but felt this was a clear area where Disney was superior. Obviously, everyone ca have different opinion.

I'm going to Uni later this year and look forward to checking out Cinematic Spectacular for myself. A question I have: does IOA have any large entertainment offerings? I have not seen any parade or show listed for there, which surprises me. I would think some sort of fireworks/WoC/Illuminations type show over the lagoon would be a real hit.

This is true. It only inconveniences someone who chooses to not buy their ticket in advance. Other than the 30 day difference and paying for bands, off property guests are in the same position as hotel guests. It's actually a lot less of an on property benefit than some of the original speculation.

I have no issues with Disney rewarding guests who buy their tickets in advance. It's good business and if it matters to you as a guest then buy the tickets in advance. Problem solved.

You're forgetting a new night show, a parade, and a new miniland/food offerings.

What you are calling a parade is laughable at best, at least the version we saw last April. Even the pathetic Nickelodian (sp?) Parade King's Island had years ago was better than the embarrassment of a parade I saw at USF. That said, we really enjoyed our two days at the Universal parks and look forward to going back.

Hollywood studios? I'd support that. Still plenty of room for Star Wars land to go with the frozen land.

It makes the most sense and it's the park that needs the most help.
