Yeah, that is odd. Also I don't understand the even exchange between "pavement" and buildings, unless this is a loose definition of pavement.

Also, 4 acres is a lot of buildings. By comparison the building for Dinasour is about half that size.

One would hope (presume?) more permits are coming, because this is rather lacking in details.

Am I reading this correctly, though, in that there will be (substantial) building coverage increases in basin FG? Wouldn't that suggest they are building something besides Avatar (and more than just nighttime entertainment and the like), since that basin barely even borders Camp Minnie-Mickey. Something doesn't make sense about that.

Yes, they will. Four acres seems like a lot (and maybe an odd location???), but then we've heard of nothing else rumored.

That's how I was reading it too. FG is mostly open land that's not currently used. It's highly speculative at this point, but could mean more substantial additions. Then again,maybe they are moving some backstage buildings over there....or another DVC. AKV part 3. This time in the park:)

FG does extend all the way towards Africa beyond Yak and Yeti so this could be the additions to Africa that have been rumored.

I found the Everest permit. That project covered 9.73 acres, 2.64 acres of which were "impervious", meaning things that water can't drain through, buildings, concrete, etc.

Right, I first assumed maybe they were somehow drastically decreasing pavement in FG, but it doesn't appear that that's possible. It looks like mostly dirt to me. 4 acres sounds good for CMM, but I also wonder.... if the building increase is on the same land as the pavement decrease, do they only count towards the total once?

Yea I agree. For a theme park show its a good show! Finding Nemo would be more comparable to a broadway production, in my opinion.

That makes sense. I think there is some room back there before you hit the railroad tracks. Could be smaller attractions or maybe a new restaurant. Pure speculation, but they are gonna need to feed us in this new "full day" park;)

Martin mentioned a possible Lion King dark ride, but no one else has seemed to indicate that it is in play, so I assume it was chopped. And no insiders have mentioned any other new attractions except for possibly additional animal enclosures (i.e. no rides or shows).

I'd like to think that for $800M, we could get a few smaller rides in addition to Pandora, the night show and general enhancements. Nothing huge, but a few dark rides or flat rides in existing lands would make a big difference -- add another ride to Dinorama, put a flat ride (like a double decked carousel or some of the Bug's Land rides) on Discovery Island, put in the Lion King dark ride and you'd have done a lot more to enhance DAK as a "full day park" with Pandora and the night show being the big draws.

I'd take a Lion King dark ride any day. I set my sights lower with just a restaurant (Beauty and the Beast style) but a dark ride would be even better.

Honestly, the popularity of these seem to be mostly due of lack of good rides that are available. almost all good rides have huge lines...in the supposed calm day we went (september-october), Pirates had a 40 minute waiting line.


For first timers.. yeah.. the meet and greet are a must! (for me it was Chip and Dale at AK, Merida at Magic Kingdom, Lightning McQueen and Wizard Mickey at Hollywood Studios)

Ahem, isn't there a forested zone that divides the back of the tree of life and the railroad line? It honestly would suck to see that cut down.
the "Forest" feeling AK gives is what makes it special.. specially around Camp Mickey and Africa.

Yes, I love all the greenery in AK. It really helps sell the idea that you're walking into wild areas. Especially in places like the Maharajah Trek, where it looks like old temples are being reclaimed by jungle plants.

So wouldn't that suggest there is less stuff going into the conversion to Pandora. Unless this Morpho project is split into two separate SFWAMD permits?
