Don't even know what to make of this latest 'experiment' ... still wondering what happened with the expert panel they put together ... what ... like eight months ago?

Are the photogs (including our good pal, Tom Bricker) being paid for this 'work'? Are they simply being given free trips to WDW and DLR to spend hours taking photos of the say ... the new Fantasyland restrooms or the trash cans in Cars Land?

Yet another example of Disney having no idea what Social Media is and what it's role in it should be.

Please educate us and Disney on what social media is Mr. Zuckerberg.

Social Media the beast that needs to be petted at arms length to get the treats but if you pet too much they'll rip your hand off for the treats!

According to the bio on his blog, Tom is also an attorney -- which raises a number of interesting questions, such as... such as...

Ah crap, forget it. Not worth opening that can of worms again!

Maybe I'm not catching this right. It's a Disney website that features a select group of fan/photog's work in a central location. Where does the social part come in? Did I not click on something that I should have? Did I miss something? I think I'm missing where this is "social".

I do see it as kinda a win/win in a way. Don't know much about the other photogs listed but I know the "Tom" who wrote trip reports here back when there weren't that many and I always enjoyed his photos. He was never anything but nice to me so I can't say anything bad about the guy. He's a life-long Disney fan and found a way to pair his hobby (photography) with his favorite place to escape. I know a lot of his pictures used to be taken at night because he'd linger after the park closed to shoot. Maybe his granting Disney the use of his pictures gets him further guest-free access to shoot more. Definitely a scratching of each other's backs possibility. No? Maybe it's a way for each of these people who enjoyed shooting at Disney parks before any notoriety was gained to further their shooting opportunities. Furthermore, who wouldn't jump at the chance to get compensated to do something they love and would be doing every chance they get anyway???

I don't guess I see this project as something where Disney is manipulating social media as much as they're taking advantage of a crazy good opportunity to tap some seriously awesome photographers for material they didn't previously have. If the photographers benefit from it, be it monetary compensation or travel comps, then good for them. If Disney wants to use their photos they should be compensated in some way.

I do find it interesting the way Disney reaches out to all these little fan groups...be it the Moms like you get on certain fan forums, photog hobbyists who have their own little realms, etc. Interesting.

No offense, but the OP has more clues than most everyone on this board combined.

Uh, no he does not. If you know anything about social media, you know that Disney is one of the standard bearers for corporate America. Probably the foremost. But it's cool if people on this board want to keep slurping wdw1987, after all he calls people "fanbois" so he must be cool and know what he's talking about.

Im sure these photographers are getting some kind of royalties for their work. I highly doubt they did this out of the goodness of their hearts. This actually looks like an advertisement for the Disney photo packages you can get if you wanted to hire a professional photographer to take your pic around Disney.

Exactly! I'm missing the social media side of this as well!?!
