Dead Monsters?

For what it's worth, I can tell you that Disney's Hollywood Studios is receiving many new changes in the shortterm. I won't comment on the status of the new coaster, but I can tell you that a second expansion of Pixar Place is soon in coming, a major change to one of our attractions at DHS is on the way, Star Tours 2.0 is on the way, etc.

It doesn't sound like that from WDW1974, clash of insiders? What is the world coming to :lookaroun

Aside from the HP vs Studios, with "all" this money going to MK, I'm expecting a lot more then a princess addon to Fantasyland.

While I'm a Universal supporter, I'm not sure that people going to see Harry Potter will be visiting BOTH IOA and Universal...what if they just visit IOA? Then that might not hurt DHS as much.

I don't hate DHS but everything just seems thrown together there. ToT is still the best Disney attraction in the U.S. (IMO) and Toy Story Mania is cool too, but they desperately need Star Tours 2.0 and something more, like an updated GMR or a new attraction.

American Idol is still new, but I don't give it very long to be drawing big crowds

Um, that assumes WDW Insider is an ACTUAL insider. There's no reason to believe that at this time.

I'll believe 74 on this one.

If true, this will help me decide not to get an AP anytime soon.

Gotta be RARC. I wouldn't mind seeing a new band go in it. I hope you really are an insider...

Personally I think that Star Tours 2.0 should be the top priority at DHS right now. That is what is needed to combat Potter. I can definitely see why a Monsters Inc coaster would be postponed or cancelled. Especially when things like a new Imagination attraction and upgrades to the MK are much more needed.

To quote Walt Disney "People are OK". The Disney parks don't have to have Disney-branded stuff shoved in your face every 5 feet. Many people don't remember that the first couple years of Disneylands existence 'characters were not allowed in the park at all.

Many people don't remember because they really don't care about Disneyland's past regulations, and many people don't know that sea dragon Gertie is! Gertie is like an inside joke where only a dozen or so people get in the park on one day. I say give it the boot and put in a familiar face. I fell in love with Disney through the movies and characters in those movies, which led to me going to the parks. I mind EVERYTHING being Disney related, don't get me wrong, but some things just need to change. "Many people don't remember that the first couple years of Disneylands existence 'characters were not allowed in the park at all." ... no wonder that got changed....

BTW, I hear ToT is getting a new drop sequence and I sorta believe PP is getting an expansion, but maybe not MI... gut feeling

I wonder if they would market Star Tours 2.0 or adjust the name at all? (so more people will know about it) Otherwise I don't see it combating against Potter.

That is the funniest thing I have ever heard. Star wars isn't even an entire land. It's crammed into a tiny section in DHS with one, small, dated attraction(isn't it the same thing as the virtual coaster we have in our mall?). Disney didn't handle Star Wars very well, it deserves better than that. It is going to take alot more to "combat" Potter.

Magic Kingdom expansion, however, may do the trick.

Is it correct what I heard though, through MiceAge I believe so grain of salt and all, that WDW will not be recieving the full blown upgrade to 2.0 and Cali and Tokyo would infact recieve the full upgrade to 2.o? If that indeed is true that I believe it is a bit ridiculous to say that is what Disney will use to try to "combat" IoA's Potter expansion, if that term can een be applied.

UPDATED Star Tours

Ummm. I think they are only updating the movie for ours.

Yeah with new effects and whatnot. The important thing is that they could market a brand new Star Wars attraction around the same time the Potter E-ticket opens (which is supposed to open around a year after the land opens, unless the plans changed from when the project was first announced).

Fair enough. But do you really think it will be enough?

Well the thing we need to remember is that Universal is the one that needs to play catch up here. It isn't like they are the attendance leader and are adding Potter to get a tighter grip on the lead. They NEED this to really "stay afloat" so to speak. Disney doesn't have to equal this addition to keep up with them. Hopefully Potter is a success and will cause Disney to react, but I think adding a new Star Tours would be every bit as big from a marketing standpoint as a Harry Potter attraction would be.

This is more of a bother to me than a disappointment.

Sure, I wanted MI, and it would have been nice for MGM, but in the end...Is it original? Was it going to be ***GREAT***? Eh.

I'm happy that EPCOT will be getting small things. Hopefully Energy is somewhere on there. I know it's been looked at...And even painted. As for SSE, fiscal year. Shame my trip isn't around then!

And while on the topic of MGMDHS....Honestly...I want a DCA for the park.:lookaroun:lol: Revamp. Totally. I like it, I think it's a great park, but for me, it needs some new touches. If they could use the "Walt" spin here, I think it would be a good new direction for the park.
