We are going tonight and can not wait. What were your thoughts? No spoilers please. I have read the books but still know the movies can be different.

Thanks, can't wait. My daughter will be wearing her Slug Club Ring when we go.

I am so excited to see it! :)

Best of the series! They leave a lot out, but compressing a monstrous book down to a shade over two and a half hours, that's to be expected.

You'll love it! :king:

Saw it this afternoon and loved it! Probably the most well-constructed of the series. DH and I actually watched "Order of the Phoenix" last night...it had been a while since we watched any of the Potter movies. :)

I went opening night, and loved it! Yes, there were things left out (especially the ending). But overall, it was pretty close. I can't wait to see it again!

Went opening night. Really only disappointed that they left out the fight at the end (once Harry drank all the Felix Felicis, I knew it wasn't happening) but other than that, it's my favorite of the series. I thought it was wonderful.

Very disappointed with the movie. Although, it was the funniest of them all. Very upset with the ending and who will not be returning. After the last scene, when the credits started, DW and I looked at each other and were like "what? seriously? that's the end?" We felt jipped.

Gotta catch up on the books, though. I just finished year 4.

Quite a few of the people i've spoke to have been like this, but i think if you look at the bigger picture it sets it up nicely for the final 2-part film.

Sak child No2 a big fan went on Thursday night and loved it. Felt it was the best film yet. Made her all excited about IoA next year.

We saw it the other day and I have to agree with Monty, I wish they had divided this book into 2 movies like they are doing with the last one. There was just too much left out, seemed disjointed at times.

As far as leaving things out goes: How about leaving out an explanation of the title of the movie?

(Granted it's a very minor plot point, but when you call a movie HP & the Half Blood Prince, aren't you sort of obligated to explain what Half Blood Prince means?)

Good flick overall, though.

You know, I thought the same. Most of it was about that book, and there was one minor reference about who the Half Blood Prince is. I really gotta catch up on the books to understand what/who exactly it is and what it means I guess.

The film was good overall. Saw it at midnight on Tuesday.

*SPOILER*
However, as I said in another thread, they totally botched the end.
The huge battle that was the climax of the book, that really turned the tide in favor of the Deatheaters, that left Hogwarts in a shambles, that terrified the students and teachers, that had a horde of Deatheaters fighting the Order and Dumbledore's Army.....all that.....gone.
No excuse for that to be reduced to nothing more than a minor squabble between Harry and about 4 Deatheaters.
Stupid.
Reduced my rating of the film from a 10 for the first 2 hours, to a 2 for the final half-hour.

*END SPOILER*

Lee, I couldn't agree with you more.

And I think the reason it stands out so much is because that is the last thing that you really remember from the book...that's really the last "major" plot point...and it's completely missing from the movie...

And my theory on why it sticks in so many of our craws is because there is nothing left after that point to make us forget it was missing. If it had been a "major" plot point like that missing in the middle of the book, it would have been easy to get distracted and forget about it. But since this happened at the end...there is nothing to make you forget about it. And then it leaves you a tad disappointed.

I LOVED the movie, don't get me wrong...I just wish that that had been included.

Excellent movie for the first 2 hours, but you kind of forget that because the last 30 minutes fall so short. If they would've used the ending out the book, it would've been great. I also wish they would've included Bill, Fleur and Dobby (shame he hasn't been in a movie since the 2nd one).

But won't Dobby have to be in the 7th movie? Or would they cut that whole section out?
