Question of the Day

Since I’ve been seeing them all over TikTok and rarely are they actually “hot,”

What is your theme park hot take

Not something like “Cosmic Rewind is the best coaster” or “Universal is better than Disney” I’m talking things that even just sharing here will get you ostracized from our little community.

I’ll give a few

- Animal Kingdom tops the other three Disney World parks by a wide margin (most obvious of my takes)

- As cool as the other parks seem I’m not ever going to travel internationally specifically to visit a theme park. If I ever find myself in Japan (unlikely, there’s not a lot there that interests me) I’ll check out Disneyland and DisneySea but I’ll never book a trip out there just to visit a park. Even California has more to see for me than Disneyland. Florida is pretty much the only place I’ll go just for the parks and that’s on nostalgia mainly.

- Disney is building too many e-tickets and coasters and should be focusing on smaller scale attractions.

- Moana Journey of Water is the best thing Disney has built at Disney World since Expedition Everest.

- Tiana’s Bayou Journey isn’t that bad and Splash Mountain needed to go. Not just because of the racist history but because the ride was decrepit

- Figment is becoming just as overrated a character as Stitch. I don’t dislike either but Disney is relying way too much on both for merch and advertising. Meanwhile characters like Sonny Eclipse barely get any merch when he’s just as fun and unique.

- Space Mountain could just go away forever and I’d be pretty fine with it
The upcoming additions to Frontierland are secretly genius
Monstropolis and Tropical Americas are welcome additions
I don't care for Harry Potter (sure, Hagrid's is great and Forbidden Journey is fun, but the IP itself is overrated)
I don't mind the Minions but they really only need one ride and a restaurant instead of a whole land

Knott’s Berry Farm is currently the best theme park that California (America even?) has to offer

Not sure what that says about me that your list speaks to me. lol

Half Answers The Questions Of The Day

What is your favorite “American” thing at any theme park?
Honestly, I’m more of a person to just have fun at theme parks, so I don’t really have an answer for this.
What is your favorite memory you have from a theme park? Maybe a childhood memory or maybe a first time on an attraction?
Either following Lightning McQueen into the Cars Land backstage area at DCA to get a picture with him when I was really young, or the fact I can still remember my Velocicoaster locker code the first time I rode (My locker code was Green 5 20).
What’s your favorite themed piece of infrastructure at any theme park?
I don’t have one because most infrastructure I often see is just barebones, though I do like the little decals put on them.
What is a prompt you’d like to see in this game?
Probably too late for an answer here, so I’ll just skip this one.
What is your favorite project you've worked on during any imagineering competition?
Round 1 of The Fozz Games gave me a pretty good idea during the team discussion, so I might use it in the game if there a prompt that fits, & I’ll definitely use it for my way of making my own projects.
What is the best attraction replacement in theme park history?
Not really sure on this one, but I’ll say Streets of America getting replaced with Galaxy’s Edge & Toy Story Land. Just both lands are really immersive & well themed in my opinion.
What is your favorite themed hotel at a theme park?
I normally have to stay at a neighboring hotel whenever I go on vacation to Disney & other theme parks because they’re too expensive, though I have been to the Contemporary At WDW & the Loews Portofino at Universal Orlando.
What would you add as the next portal at Epic Universe?
Wicked & Lord Of The Rings are ideas I’ve seen get commonly suggested, so my money would go to both of them.
What’s your favorite movie of the 2020s thus far?
Sorry in advance to PerGron, but it’s Sonic The Hedgehog 3. Everything was adapted really well, & Shadow is now my favorite character.
How are you doing?
All’s well for me right now. Always feeling chill & energetic.
What is the theme park project you thought would absolutely suck but ended up being pretty solid?
Though it’s not open yet, I’ll say the upcoming Universal Kids Frisco park in Texas. I was immediately negative on the
announcement as I thought that Texas deserved an actual Universal park rather than a kiddy park, but after a few announcements & plan changeups (especially with the Spongebob land), I’m now feeling confident in the park.
What is your favorite coaster you’ve been on? It doesn’t have to be the fastest, the wildest, etc. just the one you like the most.
Didn’t tell anyone this, but back during my Spring Break, I went to Dollywood, & rode all of the big coasters. Big Bear Mountain & Firechaser Express are some I really liked, especially with their sudden launches from the loading station.
If you are a Star Wars fan, who is your favorite Star Wars character. If you are not a Star Wars fan, who is your favorite character from your franchise of choice?
Not a Star Wars person, so I’ll just say…
Sonic The Hedgehog Eye GIF by Xbox

Shadow! Again!
What Disney Attraction (aside from RNRC) should be permanently rethemed to the muppets?
How about The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh at Disneyland in the rather fitting “Bayou Country?”
What is your favorite pavilion at Epcot?
Test Track! I’ll definitely miss the 2.0 theming the next time I visit EPCOT, but 3.0 looks to be a worthy upgrade.
Now that Disney has parks in California, Florida, Japan, France, China, Hong Kong, and soon to be UAE (maybe) where should the next Disney resort be built?
Australia feels like a fitting place for a Disney Park to me. Would finally give the world below the equator a major park.
What upcoming theme park project are you most excited for?
Monstropolis! All because of the door coaster!
What is your favorite prompt from any imagineering game you’ve participated in or observed?
Although my team didn’t win, the 20K hotel in round one of What If? Season 2 definitely was fun to do (As the person who pitched the idea).
Who is a hero of yours?
I know who my hero is but I don’t think I can say his name on here due to possible religion issues in the forum.
What’s the last theme park ride you’ve gone on?
It was something at Dollywood, but I don’t exactly remember what my last ride there was.
Who's your favorite fictional dad?

I call it answering the question of the day, rhymes with Grug (joke answer).
What types of projects are your favorites to write?
I really like projects that encourage players to get creative, & make original ideas.
What is your theme park hot take
The Disney parks should go back to what they were in the early 2010s, as the new direction the company is trying to take them in is just not what it feels like it should be. They should also start listening to the fans more & they should stop replacing their well beloved attractions that made many people feel the Disney magic, especially with the most recent instance of this being MuppetVision 3D.

Testify!

Also, I don't think Splash Mountain needed to be rethemed, nor do I think Disney had good intentions when retheming it.

Men In Black: Alien Attack sucks. And I’m sick and tired of pretending that it doesn’t.

The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh gets too much hate.

The Fountain of Nations needed to go and Disney actually did not do enough to change EPCOT’s core.

Big Thunder Mountain is not as good as everyone thinks it is. Is it wonderful? Yes. Is it worthy of the amount of love and attention people give it? No.

Spaceship Earth’s current descent is actually good.

WDW should not be the face of the theme park industry.

I have more!

-The current state of DLR between the crowds, the AP entitlement, the vlogger/influencer culture, the over reliance on the app, a lot of the cast members CLEARLY being over worked and burned out, and stripping away a lot of the entertainment makes the resort pretty much entirely unappealing to me in its current form.

-Great Moments with Mr. Lincoln was the single best attraction at the Disneyland Resort
-Mission Breakout > Florida Tower of Terror

-I'm not a fan of RMC. They have great layouts, but their restraints suck and make the ejector airtime on their rides literally painful to a tall guy like me. The restraints on Iron Gwazi were an improvement, but still nowhere near as comfortable as those sweet, sweet B&M and Intamin trains.

-Rise of the Resistance is practically a one and done experience for me and doesn't have anywhere near the level of storytelling detail to compete with the likes of Pirates and Haunted Mansion (which will likely never be eclipsed as the single greatest attractions in theme park history for me). Calling it the greatest attraction Disney's ever done feels freaking insane to me. Technologically impressive, but feels literally empty. I enjoy the transport segment more than the actual ride itself, which pretty much just feels like going through a big sound stage.

-Little bonus super niche thing. The High in the Sky Seuss Trolley Train Ride could have been a top five in the park contender because I love PeopleMovers and it offers excellent views, but the attraction is virtually ruined by the obnoxious narration. "HOW ABOUT YOU?!!?"

-That being said, Seuss Landing has the most immaculate vibes of any land in Islands of Adventure when it comes to just being in the land itself. It feels like a precursor to Epic for the sheer level of hidden details they crammed into every inch of the place.

Just a heads up to Team Dreams, I will be out of town (at WDW for the first time in 8 years!) and deliberately off the grid (except for the Disney app ) from July 8-15, so I'll be incommunicado for those days. This is my first non-OSC participation in an Imagineering game, so I'm not entirely sure what to expect, but I just wanted to let you know I'll be out for that week.

That will be the second week of a two week project so you’ll be able to help your team brainstorm and maybe get some stuff done!

People probably wouldn't be so hard on it if it hadn't replaced Mr. Toad.
that (which TBH isn't unreasonable, considering there was a giant vacant lagoon only steps away), and the more fanatical (for lack of a better word at the moment) park fans tend to unfairly compare it to the Tokyo ride, which is silly since beyond using the same IP, they have completely different goals as attractions: one isn't trying to be anything more than a standard Fantasyland-style dark ride with some clever touches (which, on that front, it delivers), and the other upends guests' expectations by delivering them an all-out E-ticket spectacular.

it could use a bit of spiffing up, but I don't think they need to close the existing ride and wedge in a copy of Hunny Hunt
