Question of the Day

In honor of another cut prompt where players would have had to design a fourth All-Star Resort to go alongside Music, Movies, and Sports:

What is your favorite themed hotel at a theme park? Likely Disney or Universal but maybe you’re a big fan of the old Nickelodeon Hotel or maybe there’s others out there I’m not even aware of.

For me, I don’t think I even have to say it because it’s so obvious, but yeah, it’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, particularly Jambo House though Kidani Village is nice too. I have a few friends and their partners who have never been to Disney World and so my partner and I are planning to take them next spring and I’m bumming DVC points from my parents so we can stay at AKL because if I’m taking two zookeepers to Disney, we’ve gotta stay at AKL

Boardwalk hands down for me. We can walk to EPCOT, there are multiple resorts all along the river giving a feeling of this being a proper lived-in place. The charm of the architecture. I just love the place.

Old Key West and Contemporary are very close runners up.

Wilderness Lodge all the way. I love the theming, Geyser Point is my favorite resort restaurant (for various reasons), and it has been pretty untouched by modern day detheming.

And boardwalk is my number 4 behind Poly

Coronado Springs because of this wonderful Teocalli (Aztec temple) in the pool area!

(I say it’s Aztec because the roof shape looks similar to the Aztec temples)

Yacht Club is my problematic, nostalgic favorite. Portofino Bay is my all-time favorite.

What is the best attraction replacement in theme park history?
To make this easier on my self, I'm gonna make it my favorite replacement for an attraction that I actually went on. So, not Test Track because I never went on World of Motion.

I'd probably have to go with Slinky Dog Dash, that qualifies as a replacement for the Backlot Tour, doesn't it?
What is your favorite themed hotel at a theme park?
This is an easy one. The Grand Floridian, the only place my family ever stays when we're at Disney World.

I've stayed at all 3 All Stars and Coronado. Plus I've camped at Fort Wilderness. Though most of that was a LONG time ago. But I've visited and toured nearly every hotel a few times.

Wilderness Lodge and Boardwalk are definitely up there for me too. The Polynesian at night is just lovely. If I was choosing a dream resort to stay in it would be one of those. But honestly my favorite might be All Star Music. It captures the kitschy over the top fun of theme parks, but without just feeling like IP photo ops the way Art of Animation can. Properly over the top and goofy but still charming and unique feeling

I love the aesthetic of Port Orleans Riverside. It's just so beautiful and relaxing.

Welcome aboard!

Pop Century had the single most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in the one time I stayed there, so major points for that especially!
The Pop Century beds are legendary. We just stayed there back in January and I really, really loved it. I also really love Boardwalk and when I want to stay Deluxe that's where I'll be but otherwise I'm very happy at Pop.

Another concept for a project I had was design a new portal for Epic Universe. This ended up being cut because I just felt it’s going to be overdone very quickly and I didn’t want to feed into that, so here’s the question of the day:

What would you add as the next portal at Epic Universe?

For me, it’s gotta be Wicked. Between the cultural relevancy of the Oz universe being long-lasting, the set designs in the movie looking perfect for a theme park land with both Shiz and The Emerald City lending themselves beautifully to it, and the fact Epic needs an area that caters more towards girls since all of the lands thus far have more of a “boy focus” I think it’s just a perfect shoe in

Wicked would probably be my pick too which is looking like the popular pick lol. It really is a perfect choice for a land blending new and trendy with timeless and iconic

Also, another Nintendo land like Zelda would be great. Or a Barbie land inspired by the movie could be really fun and campy.

But if I'm trying to go with something that isn't a rumor but should be: I'd love to see One Piece. It's been blowing up in America lately more than ever with the live action Netflix show, was a big feature that drew long lines at the Fan Fest this summer at Uni Hollywood, and has a ton of possibilities. Plus, fits with the "geeks/nerd" vibe that Epic Universe seems to be leaning into.

Sonic Green Hill Zone land would also be a personal favorite choice though not likely with Nintendo there haha
