The Kate Bush List:

Babooshka: This is one of Kate's faster songs, and really shows off her amazing voice - if you haven't heard this song, you should really get onto that immediately! I’m sure you'll love it!

Running Up That Hill: This is a modern classic and was famous in small circles even before it was on Stranger Things! This song is mysterious, clever and surprising! Great stuff!

Wuthering Heights: This song is one of Kate Bush's most famous and it takes its title from the Emily Brontë book of the same name. A little bit more dramatic than the others on this list, this song is considered careful but wonderful all at the same time! The video is an absolute masterpiece of song and dance.

This Woman's Work: One of Kate Bush's less known songs, this track is mysterious and serious in equal amounts! If you haven't heard it, why not use your preferred platform for listening to music and listen?

Get Out Of My House: This is what a mental breakdown sounds like in my head, enough said.

Eat The Music: Kate wrote this one after listening to some Malagasy music and it even features an instrument called a valiha from Madagascar. It’s bright, cheerful, and lively.

Hammer Horror: An ominous, haunting song inspired by a documentary about Lon Chaney Jr that Kate Bush saw, even though he hadn’t been in any Hammer Horror films.

Question of the Day
What’s your favorite movie of the 2020s thus far?

I watch a lot of movies but I think The Holdovers sits pretty comfortably in the number one spot for the decade as of this moment.
Thunderbolts*

It was so much better than it had any right being. Yelena is my participation character in the MCU.

Lots of great ones so far!

  • Everything, Everywhere, All at Once was a particular favorite. Really up my alley
  • Thunderbolts* was great and might be the best superhero film of the 2020s so far
  • Barbie was shockingly great and so creatively well done
  • M3gan was the exact kind of goofy campy horror I love
  • Nope became an instant favorite for me
  • The Menu is one I was initially a bit mixed on but really snuck up to become a favorite
  • Sonic 3 is maybe not on the same level as the others, but it is the exact movie I drew in crayon when I was 6 so I gotta give it some props for that
  • Sinners might have some recency bias boosting it, but was an incredible theatrical experience and I can't recommend it enough
  • Late Night with the Devil was a really clever and unique take on horror that stuck with me
  • Hundreds of Beavers was a joyous celebration of slapstick and silent films

But if I had to choose one specific favorite movie it would obviously have to be Morbius :P

Speaking of M3gan, have ya'll seen the trailers for the sequel? It's like if they went right from Friday the 13th to Jason X with no movies in the middle. Just leaning 100% into the cheesy campy silliness and throwing away all pretense of being a serious movie or a horror film. I can't say it looks good, but I can say it looks like an absolute blast lol

Yeah, it looks pretty insane but I definitely expect it to be a really good time.

Catching up on the Questions of the Day out of pure insomnia. Also, consider this my official sign up.

Best "American" element of any theme park - I'm going to go ahead and go with a deep cut here and say the carousel at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. It's honestly the most quintessentially "Americana" theme park attraction I've ever experienced. It historically comes from EXACT kind of vibe and time period that Main Street is trying to replicate. It's very much history in motion. Everything from the ocean views to the brass organ to the iconic clown smile ring toss target just evokes SUCH a powerful deja Vu. It honestly gives me chills just thinking about the vibes in there.

Best theme park memory
Again I could go with any number of things here, but I think I'm going to go with a recent one. One of the last times I was at Islands of Adventure about an hour before park close I was about 20 minutes way from getting onto Hagrid's when it got evac'd due to a lightning storm. There wasn't a lot in the park that I wanted to do since I'd already had my fill of the dark rides at that point in the trip and every outdoor attraction was closed, so I kind of aimlessly made my way to Seuss Landing. When I got there, the magic hour lighting from the storm was just so freaking immaculate, and I ended up spending a good 45 minutes or so just walking around, taking pictures, and soaking up the atmosphere. It was truly one of the most "perfect" theme park moments of my life and one hell of a reminder that some of the best theme park memories really do come out of those "stop and smell the roses" moments :) To top it all off literally five minutes before park close they reopened VelociCoaster and I got to get my first ever night ride on that, so yea...just all around a "chef's kiss" of a night. An hour in time that will live rent free in my head for the rest of my life.

Best themed infrastructure
Any number of things in Toy Story Land for me. I love the design of that place. I think specifically the exit walkway of Midway Mania contains so many little thematic details, it truly is one of the most utterly immersive areas of any of the WDW parks for me. If I had to pick a single thing I'd probably say the K'Nex benches. Just such a cool, hyper-specific detail and practically childhood wish fulfillment.

Favorite Armchair Imagineering project
Easily my CineMasacre Monster Madness E Ticket I made as an expansion of Dark Universe. I put my whole heart and soul into that thing. So many cool AVGN Easter eggs mixed in with a really ambitious attraction layout that was essentially a more tongue in cheek "Great Movie Ride" for all things horror. I very much doubt anything I do in the future will ever top it. It was the ultimate passion project for me.

Best attraction upgrade
SUPER hot take here...don't kill me...Tower of Terror to Mission Breakout. Yes, I get the sightline isn't the greatest, but the actual attraction is such an upgrade. We went from something that was so obviously a pale imitation of the Florida original to an attraction that I honestly prefer over the Florida tower. I adore the fact that they totally flipped the ride system on its head and changed it from a traditional drop tower to a "Space Shot". That just gives the attraction such a burst of adrenaline and is one of the most purely "fun" attractions I can think of. Monsters After Dark is also sublime and kind of a game changer as far as a fast turn around for a REALLY effective fully unique take on the day time attraction.

If ya'll still want to kill me, I'll say the entirety of the 1980s Fantasyland redo. We lost Skull Island and the Jolly Roger, but we gained SOOO much more. I really couldn't imagine Disneyland's Fantasyland without those facades.

Favorite themed hotel
Probably a toss up between Port Orleans Riverside and Cabana Bay. Both achieve their specific goal remarkably well. Port Orleans is freaking phenomenal when it comes to world building and taking advantage of the fact that the resort is located on an actual river in every single element of its storytelling, and Yee Haw Bob is an absolute freaking GOAT in the realm of theme park entertainers. Cabana Bay pulls off the retro 50s roadside motel but elevated vibe ridiculously well. I love the color scheme, I love the water features, I love how the resort feels like an extension of Volcano Bay.

Favorite movie of the 2020s
It's either Challengers or Nope for me. Challengers is definitely the movie I've clocked the most rewatches for this decade, and Nope is Jordan Peele's absolute masterpiece so far and is such a completely original and bonkers take on the tried and true "alien invasion" story. Dune Part Two in Imax is EASILY the absolute most transcendent, life affirming movie theater experience I've ever had in my life, but I have to knock that movie back just a bit because it simply doesn't play as effectively in anything BUT a large screen with a pumping sound system.

Next Epic Universe portal
PerGron knows this all too well since I crushed him in a debate with this answer ( :p ;) ) but I'd easily say Back to the Future/Hill Valley 2015. It just makes too much sense. The park needs a Tomorrowland, Doc Brown is pretty much canonically involved in the portal technology, Back to the Future is one of the most iconic and evergreen film series ever, and there's just so much storytelling potential with the "alternate version of a time period that's technically on our past" angle. I can't get over how badass seeing "Where Were Going, We Don't Need Roads" would be as the portal slogan.

Here are some concepts for Disney’s World Of Wonders, my Blue Sky Park based on world countries and cultures which is in the works.

Concept 1: COLLAPSE: MYSTERY OF THE MAYA is an intense dark ride similar to Rise of the Resistance based on theories about the mysterious Classic Maya Collapse, ranging from the ones archaeologists believe to those crazy ancient alien “theories” that only a fool would believe. In the ride, guests are sent back in time by a society of Mexican historians to solve the mystery of the Maya collapse only to discover that all the theories concerning the Maya collapse are true and that the Maya and Toltec deities existed during the Pre-Columbian era. This will be located in the center of the Mexico section with a facade and queue based on a museum located within an old Mexican hacienda with a forced perspective Maya pyramid being located atop the showbuilding behind the Hacienda.

Concept 2: The Marco Polo Expedition is a guided walkthrough (Think Poseidon’s Fury) based on Marco Polo and his travels. Guests travel through various locations throughout Medieval Italy and Asia and meet many interesting people along the way. This will be located in the Italy section in a building based on Venetian architecture to fit with Marco Polo's story while the rest of the section is based on Rome.

Concept 3: Expedition Andes: Legend Of The Golden City is an EMV dark ride taking guests around different Peruvian archaeological sites in search of Paititi, a legendary lost Inca city of gold. This will be located in the Peru section with a facade based on Inca ruins. A replica of the Inca city of Huanuco Pampa that guests can explore is located nearby.

Concept 4: Legends Of The First Americans is a dark ride taking guests through the legends and history of the Indigenous peoples of North America. It is located in the United States section with a facade combining multiple Indigenous architectural styles.
