DHS MuppetVision 3-D's Future: Potential Disney Park Venues and Vision Pro Immersive Experience

Watching this makes me appreciate it even more. Not just the 3D movie but the AAs, effects, and an actor portraying Sweetums. No show has been as immersive. Watching Statler and Waldorf reacting to everything shows how much better these AAs are than anything that went into Tiana. We had hoped that the Splash replacement would live up to its reputation. It didn't. I'm not hopeful about a Monsters, Inc. replacement show.
Agreed, I think it's an extremely high bar.

But if MV3D would relocate (very doubtful), it would take some pressure off it to be as great. Guess we'll find out.

How do they pull off them having flags for the "we surrender!" joke, then losing them for the last few moments of the show?

I'm guessing they each have a separate arm with the flag the whole time that only moves into view for the gag (while the animatronics' "real" arms are out of view)?

‘Muppet Magic’, of course!

That's because the confidence in Disney updating the attraction to come anywhere close to what Jim did is slim to zero. The show is almost perfect. Outside of updating a few things like Waldo or improving the animatronics, there's not much to improve. Just put it in a smaller theater and restore the fountain to its original form. Now you have a nice Muppets mini-land. And you spent very little in the grand scheme of things.
I just can't see Disney just moving this show and tech to another theater without updates and changes. I agree that confidence is low that Disney would get a refresh 'right' but that's the only option I see. Something 'plussed' and have a wider marketing penetration. Something that would fill the seats again as capacity see to be very low on most shows. I think it would need to have a better screen, updated animatronics, and most important - a gimmick such as 4D, seat effects, and/or new storyline. If the fans just want the same show, I'm afraid that may only be found virtually in the future.

Just saw that with the closure of this show, Disney no longer has any current operating Muppets attractions. I'm for letting Imagineers attempt to bring the next Muppets Vision to life and with that invest in a mini land around RnRC. Mini land could include: 1) Retheme RnRC, 2) Muppets Vision 4D: Mayhem. 3) Use back of Hollywood Vine and Hollywood Scoops to create a new Swedish Chef quick serve and specialty Muppet themed ice cream. 4) Meet & Greet and merch. Even though this would not be the OG Muppet Vision, having this investment and new offerings would have to go a long way in satisfying the average fan but maybe not the die hard.

This is such an interesting observation I've seen multiple times now. Not that it matters anymore, but I had seen the numbers for this show and the utilization rate was very healthy, far above what people seemingly stated seeing "empty" theaters.

For all intents and purposes, this went away not due to popularity, but due to cheapness at the hands of Disney wanting to use existing brick facades in their retheme (my opinion).

Let’s all hope that Muppet*Vision 3D will be relocated back to Disney California Adventure’s Sunset Showcase Theater {sharing it with Mickey’s PhilharMagic - Muppet*Vision from Park Opening to 2:00pm, followed by PhilharMagic from 3:00pm to Park Closing} since the excited new Avatar Experience won’t replace it. Let’s all show support and share this post to the TV News while ask Disney to relocate Jim Henson’s Last Project there. It would be great opportunity. Thank you.

MV3D wasn’t popular in DCA the first time.

I can't speak to MV3D's popularity at DCA but I was at DLR May 16-20. I decided to watch Mickey's Philarmagic in DCA just because, although I've seen it multiple times in MK. It was painfully obvious that "Muppet Vision 3D was here" because the unused balconies are still in the theatre. It can obviously be returned there.

The one positive to this; Waldo is finally out of that silly film.
