There were some Dogman haters on here or another thread. Anyway, reviews are out, Dogman is 77% Fresh compared to 58% Mufasa. Hopefully it does well and we get more Pilkey films in the future.
A film can look dumb to someone and can be well made at the same time…The job of a critic is did the film achieve it’s intentions

I am not the biggest Bob Dylan fan so I have not made A complete Unknown a priority… I finally plan on seeing the movie this weekend as it’s the only Oscar nominated best picture I have not seen yet… I am fully prepared for it not be my favorite of the nominees but still recognize it deserved to be among them

I already talked about Mufasa upthread. It'll be passing Sonic 3 shortly on the domestic side, which firmly puts it into the top 10 for the year (#9, by my count), so I think that means that we'll be getting a profitability breakdown from Deadline in the Spring. Hopefully.

I'd say A Complete Unknown wasn't just made for Oscar nominations (musician biopics have been all the rage lately), but it certainly got some. That should mean that it'll stay in theaters through the 2nd weekend of March. It also looks like it's getting pretty good holds this week off of Chalamet's performance on SNL last weekend -- he sang 3 Dylan songs for those who missed it, so it was definitely aimed specifically to promote this movie.

I would guess that it's got at least $15m more domestic in it. It's only really started to roll out internationally in the last week or so, and doesn't open in some countries until the end of February, so it's anyone's guess what that number will look like as time passes. Walk the Line got a 2:1 US:Int'l split and more recent movies like Rocketman and Elvis (these are obviously bigger names than Dylan from a popularity standpoint) got 50:50 splits.

We're planning to see five movies this weekend. None of them Disney movies (yet), they're all doing too well at the moment for us to need to go see them.
What are the other two movies are coming out only ones I can think of are Captain America dog man and that one Indy film

Wow, that's impressive. We still have 5 BPs to go ourselves and 24 overall (20 after this weekend) for the death race this year.

We generally don't go see movies when they're brand new, so these are not ones that have just come out. [Though I can think of 4 movies with decent-sized releases coming out this weekend -- Dog Man, Companion, Valiant One, & Love Me]

We're seeing Seed of the Sacred Fig (which actually is getting its "wide" release this weekend), September 5, Nickel Boys, Nosferatu, and an indie documentary at our local art museum.

And this is why you're going back on ignore. I'm not going to go back and forth with AI responses.

If you want to have a good faith discussion that doesn't involve AI responses I'm more than happy to have it.
There is nothing in the ToS which forbids AI responses. Take them with the same grain of salt as any other response. I'm afraid the days of judging someone by their written communication may be in the past. I personally mourn their passing, but technology moves forward - for good or bad.

I see that the ToS have posted an update (this is in response to a private discussion among mods) So unless a post is 100% AI it is OK. Even though I'm not the only poster who will not be using AI.

I don't disagree, however the ToS does say this -

"However, it is not acceptable to use AI to create entire posts."

Which that poster has been called out before for doing, and not just by me but multiple posters. So if they or any other poster wants to use AI in the appropriate way, I have no issue with it, as stated in this thread I'm very familiar with it due my use of it in my daily tech life. :)

People in this thread have been put on notice, so the 100% AI generated posts should stop. Or will be stopped. ;)

There are no 100% AI generated posts. We are a bunch of dorks (me included) talking about films and coming from different sides of the political spectrum. That is a fact. Those who can't handle the discussion, scream AI...or whatever other tactic they have in their tool box to silence the opinion they don't agree with and can't argue against.

I have no idea whether or to what extent you are using AI, but the post I'm quoting here, for example, sounds like a real person, whereas some of your other posts sound, well, different. For what it's worth, I personally prefer when you sound like a real person!

No one is screaming anything. The AI is pretty obvious.

I tend to just skip over whatever content sounds like it’s AI generated. But as long as it’s not against forum rules, people are free to use it.

Thank you, and well said. Its fairly easy to spot something that sounds artificial and not from a real person, especially when it comes from a poster who has previously posted with a certain "style" or "voice".

which one concerned you? The one where I privately messaged you and said I respected you for fighting for what you believed in? This is all B.S. to take down my opinion. Is what it is.
None of them concerned me; I have never reported any of your posts. I was just encouraging you to write in your own voice rather than rely on outside tools.

Not sure why it needs to be said, but evidently it does, so here goes.

For what its worth, no one is trying to silence anyone's opinion here. Express all the opinions you want, provided its within the bounds of the sites rules. And if someone wants to engage in a discussion regarding that opinion they will do so, but no one is obligated to maintain that discussion, especially if it feels artificially generated. What is being asked is to respect your fellow posters and have the discussion in good faith using a real voice and opinion, not something artificially generated. I don't think that is too much to ask of our fellow posters here. And since its now officially part of the site's ToS, if you have an issue with it please take it up with the Mods.

I think that Bob Dylan is completely overrated. He has a horrible voice, but I do know he is a legendary songwriter, and I will say that I thought A Complete Unknown was a great movie. Timothée Chalamet and Ed Norton were fantastic.

I don’t have any interest in a Bob Dylan movie but I do like Edward Norton. Now I kinda want to see it lol
