Disney (and others) at the Box Office - Current State of Affairs

Got it. This might be a generational thing. Back in the 1990's the online forums were a bit wilder and woolier than they are today. Now they've got software that doesn't even let you type swear words on forums. Or, my personal favorite on this website specifically, won't let you type out the name of the official dance of the great state of South Carolina. Because thousands of miles away in England it means something dirty, but here in the USA it's wholesome and fun, if not a bit hard to learn.

I'm talking about the dance, not the other thing. 🤣

Okay, but none of us here caused the fuss made by Miss Zegler, or most recently Mr. Mackie. This little backwater discussion forum of, at most, two dozen regular posters is not causing moments to go viral on TikTok and X and one Billion smartphones around the planet. We are merely... wait for it... discussing those real world situations on a discussion forum about that exact topic at hand (Disney movies).

Which made the accusation that some of us here were part of the global hate network all the more funny last year. :)
The blame lies at the feet of a bunch of YouTube grifters not anyone on this forum

I wonder that too, and its not like this is the first time this same poster has been called out for providing AI responses. Others, not just me, have called them out for it as well over the last couple years. They then go into hiding for awhile and then popup again a few weeks or months later trying it again. Its been a pattern I've noticed with this poster. I tried to call out one of their posters a week or so ago, but it got removed by the Mods.

The only thing I can figure is maybe its some programmer testing an AI program to see how well it can fool posters on a forum before getting caught, maybe to try to improve their AI language models. Real world testing is the only way to truly improve the AI responses.

Maybe it’s not AI at all—just another voice in the mix, offering a different perspective. Sometimes that can be challenging, but that’s part of what makes discussions interesting.

It’s noticeable how certain opinions seem to get more pushback than others. Over time, we’ve seen conversations shift away from actual debate and lean more toward dismissiveness or mockery instead of engaging with the argument itself.

Many of us have been here long enough to see patterns in how discussions unfold. In the end, we all have different viewpoints, and the best conversations happen when we focus on the ideas being shared rather than shutting them down.

Or maybe it’s not AI at all… maybe it’s just a voice that doesn’t always align with your viewpoint, and that unsettles you a bit.

It’s interesting how this poster always seems to get targeted whenever certain members of this group of 15 don’t like their opinion. The pattern is pretty clear... once they disagree, some members don’t engage with the argument itself. Instead, they pivot to mocking and dismissiveness rather than having an actual discussion.

I've been here a long time, I've seen it a lot with certain posters. Is what it is.
This is the last post I'll respond to of yours.

I have no issue with any others viewpoints, in fact I encourage it. As different view points adds to the discourse of the forums. I'll interact and debate with anyone here on a wide array of topics and have for the better part of a decade as many can attest to. My posting history is here for everyone to see, and in my almost 20,000 posts over almost a decade, mocking is not something that is common in any of my posts. So this is not something you should throw around lightly just because you've been called out by multiple posters for providing AI responses in your posts. I just happen to be the latest who called you out for it.

At this point I suggest, and actually respectfully request, that you no longer respond to any of my posts in any thread on this site. Better to just not interact with each other and move on. Have a nice day.... :)

No, but many here eagerly threw themselves into the fuss, getting increasingly agitated over nothing more than a few harmless differences of opinion. As you yourself noted, it's a peculiar way to go through life.
It’s my fault—I brought it up and posted what I saw from X onto this site, wanting a reaction from the die-hards.

But... I have a new thought. Are today’s park prices possibly affecting people’s negative perception of Disney films?

From Fortune:
"Walt Disney World is charging up to $194 for admission—per person, per day, pre-tax—propelling a once-attainable family vacation into the realm of a luxury experience that many Americans can no longer afford.

Behold the Magic Kingdom's evolution from mass entertainment into a playground for the aspirationally wealthy. Fifty years ago, a family of four could visit for $262 in today’s dollars. Even as the park expanded throughout the decades, ticket prices remained relatively modest. In 1998, when Animal Kingdom roared to life, a family of four could still enjoy a peak-season day at the parks for less than $300 in today’s currency.

Fast forward to 2025, and the same family faces a staggering $766 pre-tax bill for four one-day peak-season tickets."

$766 is unreal—it’s become a luxury destination, and that shift could be why Disney faces resentment with its films.
Just a thought.

Same here—please never, and I mean never, respond to me again.

From what I’ve seen in my time here, this is just how you operate. I called you out—sorry if that embarrassed you. I gave you a compliment in our discussion, tried to have a cordial conversation, and even offered positive feedback. Instead of engaging, you threw it back in my face just because I have a different opinion than you and that's really all this is about.

Now we are going to become best friends ;)

No it’s pretty identifiable as AI. You’re kidding yourself if you think people can’t pick that up.

I don’t mind engaging with people - even if they are using AI in good faith - but I don’t believe that was how you were using it.

I would much rather hear the actual opinions of real people on this forum even if they are expressed in less than perfect form.

Please, Chi84… wait, are you a Bears fan? That team was incredible.

Do I grab and post stuff from Fortune, YouTube, etc., all the time? Yes, and I’ve been criticized for it before. (by the same poster we dare not speak of again)

But my opinion is my opinion—and let’s just get that out of the way right now.

So are you a Bears fan? Cubs fan? Tucker will be solid.

Agreed, we have posters who don't speak English very well or have writing styles that aren't perfect by any means, and yet we all interact with them just fine, differences of opinions and disagreements alike. I too rather interact with someone that can put their own thoughts down in a post rather than filter it through an AI generator.

No sadly not I just thought people might be getting tired of groundhog day
Man.. I was hoping you had news on Imagination. So much real estate there to create an amazing ride. Imagination is what pushes innovation, should be the E ticket of Epcot. But, we still have that crappy 2002 version to slog through. Test Track is supposed to bring back the feeling of World of Motion. Excited to see that, going this Christmas.
