DHS Monster Inc Land Coming to Disney's Hollywood Studios

I think you're agreeing with me. In short, I don't think Disney views The Muppets as a franchise worth investing in. In fairness, I think they've given them a fair shake, even produced some solid content and people didn't really care.

With that said, I think Muppet fans would be more than willing to accept a new show elsewhere on property.
I agree, but I don’t think the muppets are permanently broken. Maybe, unfortunately, they need to go to sleep for a little while, and then come back with a new creative head or team with a new vision when the muppets are ready again.

Why did you choose violence today?
That’s always been my stance, I mean no violence toward anyone. I’ve never liked TSL and don’t lament its loss.

I respect everyone’s opinion toward the area though. I was upset when a bunch of recent attractions closed so I definitely understand what it’s like to lose fond areas of the park.

As much as I hate to agree with you, I do in this case. That is kinda why I have made peace with the fact that Muppets may be removed. Like I said though, I don’t want that to happen.

I also agree with this perspective.
  • Muppets seasonal overlay on Haunted Mansion?

I’d like that. Your idea brought me back to this video someone made a while ago. It’s rough but it gets the idea across.

I'd rather keep the River and Island than Muppets. But I also don't see a great reason why we should have to lose either to grow the parks. They can both stay and there's still plenty of space to expand.
Playing devil's advocate here...

Staffing has to be a pretty large reason here. The Orlando market is pretty much tight on available workers for theme parks. Now add in that a new theme park is opening next year.

I still wonder who likes tthe Muppets over losing rivers of America. The muppets movie is so old. rebuild it or give me a better than the 1990s 3D movie. Take it down for Monsters, please!
I’d keep the Muppets over TSI, but would retain at least some of the river if possible while seeing the Muppets go.

In terms of how it affects guest experiences at their respective parks, I think losing MuppetVision is worse than the RoA just because of the limited options of attractions at DHS.

Losing the RoA and Liberty Belle hurts a lot from a theming prospective but you can still have plenty of other stuff to do at that park without them.

The big lie that Disney spins is this stuff as expansion when its actually "destroy and replace".

Folks who defend Disney, say destroying Muppets is an "increase in capacity" as more folks will go in the Monsters ride than attended Muppets.

By my math, if they kept Muppets AND ADDED Monsters in an unused area, THAT is an expansion and would literally increase capacity as you have folks still enjoying Muppets AND folks going on Monsters.

Is it possible that both can be true? Maybe the office is being torn down to make room for a second expansion pad. All the while Monsters is already under construction on the other side of the park. This would mean they could build twice as fast in the AC plot if an expansion were announced for that area in 2026.
Getting demolition done early would not allow building to occur twice as fast. Disney already typically overlaps design and construction. Getting the demolition done early isn’t really going to do much in the way of accelerating a project schedule.

Even if they are backing out of it, they’d have to announce by next week as that starts the beginning of September. They also probably need to file permits soon.
Probably not. The earliest permits that get filed (like those just filed for the Magic Kingdom) are for water management. Both sites are already rather built up so there should not be a need for changes to the park’s water management strategy.

Calling DHS a junk drawer is disingenuous. It's almost as if Disney's Hollywood Studios is becoming a Theme Park featuring Disney's Hollywood Studios. Remember them? LucasFilm (Galaxy's Edge), Pixar (Toy Story Land, Mosters Inc Land), FOX and probably Marvel (eventually). When Muppets Courtyard does go, and it will in the next 10 years I expect, it will be for a Star Wars expansion. Everything about the Monsters Inc Land designs scream Animation Courtyard to me.
I don’t think I could shake my head more than on this one…thanks for that 👍🏻

Am I seeing this right? We’re back to it’s too hot…so people don’t go to Florida again?

Right…it’s not at all the price…the upsell…and the uncomfortable environment Bob has intentionally create to bleed us all?

Can’t be that…wouldn’t result in an attendance lag that they have to admit publicly and to their financial detriment.

Nope

If Muppets goes, I lose all hope that Carousel of Progress is safe.

Nothing is sacred and there is no respect for the dead. Jim Henson doesn't matter and Walt Disney only matters when they can try and use him for marketing or selling tacky tchotckhes.
TWDC says nothing is sacred in WDW.

It’s not a matter of if COP goes, It’s a matter of when.

I stupidly thought COP was safe since they updated the seats.

They also updated the seats in Muppets and we see what’s going to happen there.

Super sad to think about this.
