I’m not so sure. This parks panel gives me the impression that Disney is *finally* playing the long game when it comes to the parks. A cheap Incredi-coaster retheme doesn’t fit that bill.

Just saw someone on DisTwitter try and claim that this land is a bad idea because, according to them, “the franchise isn’t popular anymore.”
As someone who has been the Monsters fan their whole life, I can confidently say it’s more popular now that it was when MU was about to come out. It goes viral constantly, it’s beloved among millinneals and gen z (and even alpha is embracing it). It has been reported on (along with Villains Land) by sources that don’t even usually mention Disney Parks and gotten hundreds of thousands of likes in the process.
Not popular anymore…please. This is what I mean when I say that those who have chosen to join that side of Disney Parks fandom that only stays to say they hate everything is really out of touch with the reality of what people will and won’t be excited for in these parks.

I kinda think this too. It may be safe for now, but long term, it's a hug piece of land that could be redeveloped for something that is more attractive to people under 40.

I have a personal theory that WDI has already earmarked that section of the park for WDW's Avenger's campus, but are stalling until Disney and Universal can work that our.Yes they are, just not for a bit

Well, people are definitely hinting that there is something else coming to DHS and that it could be related to Incredibles. Changing RNR to an Incredibles theme seems reasonably plausible especially as they've already given that IP the roller coaster treatment before.

But like … by keeping marvel in the parks aren’t they promoting, selling & essentially giving money to a Disney owned property? Doesn’t really make sense in the long term to keep them there.

That's the thing... MuppetVision and Grand Ave are not really that "huge" of a footprint. So they'd be limited in what could go there is that is all they are replacing. You pretty much need to take Star Tours as well to do something of substance and then that means you are removing two attractions in a park that needs more things to do. This is particularly important in a Lightening Lane world where you have to have enough ride inventory to sell that upcharge.
Seems pretty odd to me to even consider removing MuppetVision unless it is for more Star Wars and to connect to Star Tours. Otherwise, there are better options to consider in the park (e.g. replacing IJ stunt show which can spill into the parking lot, the BatB theater area [there's some unused expansion space there too] or even more of the backstage area between Animation Courtyard and RNR).

At the price they are paying it certainly does. A bunch of the stuff in Uni parks are licensed. Do you think they mind that they are promoting and essentially giving money to WB for Harry Potter? To Nintendo for their properties? etc
The only way Disney gets any Marvel rights for WDW is if they pay Uni a lot to share them. I don't see any scenario under which Uni would be willing to give them up entirely.

In theory, a monstropolis mini land doesn’t eliminate muppet vision, if they blow out the back of the land, that’s not blowing out muppet vision.

Universal also doesn’t want Disney building rides that could hurt them. A Marvel land at WDW would be extremely popular, which would mean Universal would lose guests to Disney. They don’t want that so they’re not going to give Marvel up easily.
