Dinosaur underperforms for the park. They think this would improve that.
I can't believe that I didn't notice this earlier...

Dinosaur "underperforms" for the park?! WHAT? I don't recall it ever not having a decent line! Where did they get the idea that the ride wasn't popular?

Its guest satisfaction scores have never been great and it's consistently the easiest Lightning Lane reservation to get. It's an underperformer for sure, but they also deserve a lot of the blame for that by letting it rot and making it a jerky ride through darkness with occasional glimpses of lurching dinos.

Also it has a high capacity. Likely equal to Everest and I don’t think Kilimanjaro ever gets close to its operational capacity nowadays. So all three could be in the same ballpark. And clearly Dinosaur has the least appeal because it is not a) the parks statement attraction b) a family thrill coaster

Simpsons is absolutely the wrong property for a Disney Park...though lately the way they are mixing up the themes and putting things in the most wrong locations possible...who knows. we might end up with a Simpson's Springfield Pavilion replaying Wonders Of Life...lol
Simpsons really seems to fit with Universal, Disney should offer Universal some of the FOX IP's in exchange for the Marvel rights to use as they please. Or Disney could potentially use some of those FOX IP's to build a new park, it might work with a new park, but not the current Disney parks.

Dinosaur used to be an amazing ride that was exponentially more thrilling and actually scary when it 1st opened. It actually felt like a roller coaster as the movement of the vehicle was so violent. They seriously toned this ride down, there used to be some really good scares on this ride too. No more

So these rethemes are really just an excuse for Disney to not have to properly maintain their rides?

I sincerely doubt this Moana land is going to focus on animals or the environment. The Moana flume ride is likely just going to be a sequel to the movie focusing on Moana (and maybe Maui too) showing what a mighty, positive role model she is a la Tiana's Bayou Adventure and its stupid "Tiana runs a food processing corporation" premise, and I don't see how the coconut warrior guys reskin of Triceratops Spin will have to do with animals or the environment at all (not that Triceratops Spin did, granted).
Moana boat ride plot prediction...

Taking place after the movie.

Youre headed over to the island for a celebration.

Song.

Drop.

The end.

And no, I totally didn't steal this concept from Frozen and Tiana

@WondersOfLife's post is likely exactly how the Moana boat ride will be. They're SO going to have some sort of "celebration" plotline like with Frozen Ever After and Tiana's Totally Woke Food Co-op Adventure.
Actually, to me, an overlay means budget is allocated to update or maintain the ride. Without it, you get stagnation. If it becomes Zootopia it will get fixed/plussed.
I can't picture Chapek's Disney doing a Zootopia retheme of Dinosaur that's actually an improvement over Dinosaur. For multiple reasons.

Do you think that long lines are the best indicator of an attraction’s performance?

Futurama in Tomorrowland is the only "FOX IP in the Magic Kingdom" scenario that I'd be okay with. I love that show. It'd make a great dark ride.

Or they could always do a Futurama reskin of Star Tours.

Yeah, but they could've cancelled it like they did Nimona and the other projects Blue Sky was working on.
Futurama would be a better fit for Tomorrowland than Monster's Inc Laugh Floor.

I feel like a Zootopia re-theme of Dinosaur will be a mix of King Kong/Fast and Furious style with a mix of MMRR. Lots and lots of screens...

...And I really wouldn't be happy with that.

...admittedly, yeah. Aren't long lines a good indicator of an attraction's popularity?

I gotta ask, what other attractions are "underperforming"? What else do I have to be worried about?

Oh, it would. Modern Disney is too cheap/lazy to build rides full of animatronics. They'd probably replace each and every animatronic dinosaur with a screen. Maybe have one or two impressive-looking Nick and Judy animatronics and nothing more.

Most of the attractions that Disney builds nowadays have very little animatronics. Ratatouille? Zilch. Cosmic Rewind? Zero. TRON? I doubt it, seeing as there likely won't be any actual "show scenes". Chances are the Zootopia retheme of Dinosaur will be the same way.

The only way Universal would ever give up Marvel is if the brand crashed and burned. Other than that, they're not giving a hugely popular IP to a competitor for a relatively lesser property.

Unless you're lucky enough to go to the overseas parks
