Chapek spends a fortune in the parks and will spend more if he thinks there’s money to be made. And MK frequently fills and could use capacity. DAK could accept more people if there was enough for people to stay all day. It’s not terribly helpful when they leave at 4 pm and go to an already-busy MK for the night.
Despite what twitter thinks, Chapek actually doesn't mind spending for the parks, as they are continuously profitable for the company, but just dumping money doesn't help a problem. They've spent wayyy too much on Epcot for what we're actually getting. They demoed innovations, only to rebuild half of it. Spent (reportedly) over 200 million on Harmonious, and now they're replacing it with something else. Haven't heard a word on PLAY for over a year, and we still have Imagination rotting away. This "overall" has been a disaster.
DCA 1 to DCA 2.0 is how a park overall should look/work, not whatever is going on with Epcot

Innoventions west was mold infested and needed lots of work, didn’t it? The overhaul still gave Epcot a restored entrance removing the tombstones, brought Communicore East back to sunken floors and floor to ceiling Windows instead of a half abandoned dark pavilion. UOE was ten years past refurb and added a popular ride in its place, Space 220 made MS feel like a real pavilion. Play is still being worked on. France got a new area and first new WS ride in decades. Plus new films for Canada, and The Land.

The DCA overhaul was nice but when you think about it it got some rethemed flatrides, a new entrance that was basically a downscaled DHS area, and a little mermaid ride that was a resounding meh. The biggest addition was WOC and Carsland

If that's the case why didn't they spend money now. They need capacity now. Yet they decided that replacing 2 night time shows and a new animatronic was more important
Let be honest, You are pro local parks, pro Universal and are critical of anything Disney does. Disney will never do anything right in your eyes.

Disney used to a lot right but since Paycheck took over and Covid they have changed the way they operate. I'm not impressed with a lot of what they are doing now.

How about this for a DinoLand reimagining instead of Zootopia and Moana: An Australia land! It would have the existing DinoLand area (minus Din-O-Rama), as well as a new area featuring animals from Australia and an Outback jeep ride (with animals, basically a "down under" version of Kilimanjaro Safari).

How about a Dinoland reimagining...about dinosaurs as actual living breathing animals that once roamed the earth and not John Hammond's genetically engineered theme park monsters at Universal?

A land that is focused on the message that Extinction is Forever and impresses upon visitors that biodiversity of our planet is constantly in peril?

Nah, let's just sing "You're Welcome" a few more times then sell Judy Hopps plushies.

Good god damn, D'amaro has GOT TO GO.

Will someone please shove him into a cannon and fire him into the Atlantic?

That man is a liar. The original plan for Communicore/Innoventions was near-total removal of both East and West buildings, with only Communicore East's North annex (home of Electric Umbrella and briefly a truncated Mouse Gear) remaining as a restaurant/gift shop.

Then they realized just how much money Mouse Gear brought in, and opted to spare the golden goose.

Then they realized just how popular Epcot Character Spot was and how many people were upset with the scrapped double-decker concert venue, so they crapped their pants and started building Communicore West/South back after demolishing it.

Zootopia I'm cool with for Animal, but Moana makes no sense. An animal isn't even the most central character. If Moana was the side character and Pua and Hei Hei were the stars then I'd understand.

This has been exhausted through these threads already but, DAK is based off of three things “The intrinsic value of nature. Psychological transformation through adventure. And a personal call to action.” If they were to look at Moana through the lens of water and trying to save the environment, etc, it fits. A movie with animals ≠ equal DAK. Zootopia is a movie about anthropomorphic animals that live as people, and doesn’t fulfill any of those three themes mentioned above

They're not going to do that. The movie is still primarily about a human character and a humanoid character, and that's what the attraction will most likely focus on.

The Simpsons Movie has a "protect the environment" message, but that doesn't mean they should build a Springfield land in Animal Kingdom.
