Yeti Repaired

By the way, work on the Yeti has been one of our best kept secrets (imho) since I don't know of any internet leaks about the corrective work. He's been receiving extensive work after hours since about mid-January. It's been fun to read the so-called "experts" claiming all sorts of bad news while the Yeti is repaired without their knowledge. And with his motion changed to more of a swoop, he should be a creaure with much less issues =)
Well, dont come down on them too hard. Their information is only as good as their sources information.

Ahhh...the Yeti is semi-working again. About time.

Now...let's see what we can do about that other waterfall. And the train steam. And the mist. And the blowing snow effect.

Who knows, one day it may finally operate at 100%.
I have asked the question before in the E:E effects thread, but seriously, how hard is it to fix a water feature? Hypothetically, is there a leak and they physically cant get to it?

Of course it does. It was built to. It cost a shed load of money to. And the whole attraction was advertised around it.
I think dxwwf3 is refering to the multitude of physical and laser effects that havn`t worked in years for various reasons.
My new expression.... especially around the kiddos. :D

I'm wondering if the new AMode will be different, seeing the old one damaged the Yeti in the first place.
Maybe the down force of the the movement, or I guess i should say the force of the arm might be a bit different.

Wait, read back a few pages. I think Insider posted that we wouldnt be able to tell the difference from the original to the new.

EDIT: you are welcome.

Fans have a hightened since of their self-importance and entitlement.

I don't really think it matters if they let us know or not. It's fixed. You can either be happy that it is working again or you can look for 1% in a 99% positive situation to complain about.

I am now ready for someone to twist what I said into a defense of TDO.
I would not equate wanting the courtesy of knowing Disney was working to correct a problem that has existed for a very long time, into a hightened sense of self importance.

It would be rather silly of anyone not to be happy that the problem has finally been fixed. I don't even know why you brought it up in this case.

My only point was WDWInsider seemed very gleeful about the fact that nobody knew the work was going on. It was merely my opinion from a PR point of view TDO would have scored more points had they let folks know they were diligently addressing the problem. Absolutely no need for secrecy here.

I've never known Disney to be secretive of the refurbishment work going on. Why do some of you folks now think it's a wise decission for TDO to keep such things so close to the vest?

Perhaps they weren't entirely sure they could get it working safely and in a reasonable timeframe and didn't want to raise expectations?

Ummm... so the Yeti's in "soft opening" mode and we're fighting about it?

Let's just be glad that it finally got fixed and that whoever's authorizing these upgrades continues to do so.

I agree!
This is great news and I am celebrating that the Yeti is active again. :sohappy:

Nope, that's true. Straight from one of the designers of the simulator.

I thought that M:S was toned down after tests before guests were allowed on. I was there for the first annual passholder previews (Still not the first people on the attraction, but it was within a week or so) and I really don't remember it being any different from the Orange mode now. I do remember hearing that it was toned down after it was built and ready, but that would be interesting to know if it was changed after it was open to regular guests.

Just my opinion, but I think they didn't advertise the fix since they never officially announced the problem or "B mode".

The Animal Kingdom shows are still running on the Discovery Channel showing "A mode", with no mention of issues...

Imagine this: They announce they are trying to fix the yeti.. Everyone here is in a state of bliss thinking the yeti will be working again.. While trying to fix it, they discover that can't, that there is something worse that first thought.. The internet firestorm starts with how bad TDO is, how terrible Disney is, and most important, the complaints about WHY DID THEY ANNOUNCE THEY WERE FIXING IT happen... Disney is in lose lose situations no matter what... So, keep quiet... Fix it... If it works, great.. if not, then you'll be bashed anyway...

Why do you think you should be entitled to this information beyond what is provided? It's been said here multiple times over the past few months that the problem was being looked at.

It would be rather silly of anyone not to be happy that the problem has finally been fixed. I don't even know why you brought it up in this case.
Because you and others have looked past the fact that it is fixed to complain that you weren't kept in the loop. Or am I mistaking your agitation with glee?

There are several post after yours detailing some very valid reasons for keeping it secret.

I never said it was wise, but thank you for making the statement at the end of my original post true.

I really don't care. It's fixed. They did what they were supposed to so I'm not going to go out of my way to say "Good job". But I'm also not going to stamp my feet like a petulant child and complain about the information not being provided in my predetermined acceptable timeframe.
