Yeti Repaired

They didn't announce the 3rd shift work because they weren't certain they could fix it. Simply said if they announced, "we're going to repair the yeti without any downtime of the ride" and then there was downtime on the ride it would have been bad PR.

It was explained earlier that this is a soft opening time period for the refurbished yeti and it's not guaranteed that he is permanently fixed. They are still running tests on him and the structural integrity of the foundation. They haven't announced the Yeti is fixed yet because as of now it isn't.

To me, at the least it's a positive that they are trying to get it corrected. We rode EE in May and nothing was working right, no steam, no waterfalls, no yeti. I complained to a cast member after the ride and he told me that they couldn't afford to take it offline to make the repairs, the park couldn't handle it. I told him that in it's present state it was nothing more than a glorified rollercoaster. He responded by saying that 99% of the guest who ride it don't notice it and that they still feel it is a really great ride. It's sad to think that this the mentality of management at the parks. Sad but a reality l guess.

I don't think a press release saying, "we're trying to fix this" is really appropriate.

If I had to guess, WDW Insider's information of the Yeti being repaired is that the bulk of the work is complete. Due to the safety requirements of the Yeti due to his motion above/near a moving train of humans and the fact that he along with his repairs are very expensive, "test and adjust" is occuring during third shift. This is not something they want to screw up so they want to make sure the fix is right the first time and fully stress tested. Unfortunately there is no way to speed this process up. In the electrical world testing to ensure reliability/lifetime performance of a component is test in a fashion to yield results such as 1 failure in 10,000 hours. Obviously this is time consuming so an equivalent test would be testing more units over a smaller time period. Disney does not have this luxury so they have to complete their testing to their standards over an extremely limited third shift.

When I was there on Monday he was in B mode, but the ride had been closed down earlier in the day (I assume this was related). BUT the waterfall as you exit the mountain towards the loading dock was working because my sister thought it was raining - hilarious!

I'm assuming you were exceptionally polite to the CM and not him?
There's obviously nothing THEY can do about it. I don't know what kind of response you were fishing for...

Get asked enough times if you're so-and-so, and you'll look up that username to see who the heck they are lol. I typically get asked if I'm him, Jim Hill, or any of the top guys in Imagineering. One person is determined to believe I'm Lasseter.

So there you have it, folks... I'm John Lasseter. J/K
Seriously? All this time I thought you were Walt's cryogenically frozen head underneath Cinderella's Castle!
