Sorry? Splain that please! What moving walls or are you talking about the Ride in DL as opposed to the show at DHS.
I assume the moving walls in the EMV ride in DL and Tokyo.

The EMV can't reverse without being in maintainence mode. So to achieve the backing up effect as the boulder comes toward the vehicle the walls move forwards instead.

You know, I've been on the CA version dozens of times and to this day I always thought the EMV actually backed up! Never even considered the alternative. That's a great effect!

Wow. I seriously just had an incredible idea.

They absolutely could PROFIT off fixing the yeti.

They could develop and entire hour long production around it, just like they did when it was built initially. Think about it...

Bringing Her Back To Life: Rebuilding The Yeti

It could show on the travel channel. Discovery. All of their channels. It could be a Sunday night broadcast on ABC during prime time.

It could give the history of the beginning of the ride. Could get into the different modes and how "forward thinking" that was. It could cover what happened to cause the failure. The (sugar coated, I'm sure... Yet still interesting) journey to try to engineer a solution... All culminating in the triumphant return of A mode.

Mix in some short segments about Avatar or the new night show along with Disney Springs and the Poly DVC.

Seriously, they could turn this colossal failure into a buzz generating, revenue generating moment of triumph. It would allow them to save face, AND pay the bill.
While that is a good idea.. and by using Rasulo's logic. He will try to create a kickstart to shove all the costs to the fans lol.

I can't find the update. Can somebody pretty please fill me in? :)
Rumors are, they are finally fixing the Yeti..

The entire Expedition Everest will be down for months for a full overhaul/repair/refurbishment.

Pretty sure someone mentioned some "tentative dates"... ETA seems to be by the end of this year or the next's early months (or so I remember correctly).

Very good thoughts. Not long ago, I had an idea regarding how TDO could make the Yeti-repair an actual entertainment event in the parks: they could shut down the ride and tell park guests that the Yeti had escaped, and the ride could only be reopened when the Yeti was recaptured. Heck, TDO could make an interactive game out of it - a Yeti hunt, and they could leave clues all around the parks - ALL the parks, not just AK - as to where the Yeti has gone, and give guests rewards for tracking him down to this location or other and then reporting their findings. That could rock. Come on, TDO, get creative with this. Stop the internecine squabbling and make lemonade out of lemons for a change...and EE is definitely a lemon as it is now.

Thank you! That would be amazing!

Just had a thought back to when there was a tour as part of Limited Time Magic last year that the Imagineers touring Animal Kingdom/Everest with the guests mentioned they had been researching paint colours for the mountain. To my knowledge nothing came from that so presumably that will be part of whatever happens when the ride goes down for refurbishment.

They're painting it red, orange and yellow to match Tomorrowland.

I still thought the general thinking was that the foundation wasn't built strong enough.

No. It is the sled the Yeti sits on that is the problem. Not the foundation. The foundation may require some routine maintenance now that it has been years out of use, but it was never the issue. The sled cracked and the Yeti was too unsafe to thrust out at guests with the damage.

I'm having a hard time picturing the sled. Is that what the yeti's feet stand on? Does it slide or something?
If I am not mistaken, the sled is behind him and connects to his back. It pushes out to make him lunge forward.

I believe that the sled is visible in this picture.

If they do close Everest for an extended refurb, wishful thinking, but I would love it if they made a few other improvements as well, like covering up the gap between the track and the structure in the backwards section so you can't see into the mountain, maybe adding some lighting effects to the backwards section and some actual sets to the outside portions, and of course, restoring the fog effect.
