So for all we know, Disco Yeti may be the better version. (crosses fingers, as he himself has never seen the A-team yeti.)

Haha, well, I have seen it in both. A Mode is absolutely amazing. I am a pretty tough guy, and I was well...frightened. :) Disco Yeti doesn't compare in the least. But just like you are saying - Why is Disney going to make this a priority when virtually no one has seen it?

I seem to recall the rumor was less about the Imagineer's math being incorrect, and possibly more about shoddy materials to build it. The quality of the concrete used, etc.

Can't recall right now where I remember that from though. It's been quite a while.
It is quite possible that you hard it from me as I have brought up that hypothesis up several times. At the time all of the rumors were pointing to some kind of structural failure with the support or foundation. As an engineer I know gigantic engineering design failures in this day and age are pretty rare. Computers do all of the hard core math and there are so many checks and balances that the chance of a blunder of that magnitude was pretty improbable. The most common causes for structural failures that I have seen in my career have either been incorrect installation and/or incorrect materials being used. If the foundation was indeed the problem (I am now fairly certain it is not) and error on one or both of those areas was the most probable cause.
Unless somebody inside Disney specified the wrong materials, I would think that Disney would be suing which ever contractor that screwed up, something that we would most likely hear about in the general media.

So for all we know, Disco Yeti may be the better version. (crosses fingers, as he himself has never seen the A-team yeti.)
It is that amazing. I too have seen A-Mode. The whole attraction is quite something with all of its effects working. I was lucky enough to be there the March before its official opening while it was still technically in soft openings.

That would be no. A-mode is impressive in many respects. Current mode is....not as impressive.

While the missing Yeti movement is the biggest disappointment by far, the combination of all the effects is really great when they are running, including the mist, waterfalls, the eagle (bird on a stick), etc.

My thoughts as well which is why I always maintained the position that we did not know what is actually wrong with the darn thing. Everything we have been doing for the last few years is just speculation on unfounded rumors.

True, if someone else is paying for a mistake, then we would have gotten a working yeti by now.

Really the only thing to compare it to is Jurassic Park over at IOA. The T-rex can be scary, but you have time to prepare for it as you can see something way before it happens. Not only that, the second time through it isn't scary at all because you are very much ready for it. Everest gives you no time to prepare for it. I have seen it in A-Mode. I did it twice. The second time through, I still couldn't prepare for it. It truly is an amazing effect.

To me the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park are not very well done at all. the t-rex actually doesnt scare me at all. it looks very fake to me. the only other animatronic that scares me on a ride is the chasing carnotaurus in DINOSAUR.....that thing looks real and like its ready to eat you alive....all the dinosaurs in that ride look very realistic in my opinion which is good on disneys part because that ride was made before jurassic park was?:D...i dont mean to be all against universal but disney is always a step ahead of the game, excapt for harry potter:shrug:.....which takes me back to the fact that id rather see the yeti in full "A" mode which i have before, then go on harry potter anyday, its way more impressive to me:sohappy:

You guys are doing this wrong. You're supposed to say that A-mode is nothing special, so we stuck in the discozone wont feel as bad about missing out. Gosh.

And before that there was Universe of Energy. Those dinos are amazing and they were made back in 1981-82.

Has the chasing Carnotaurus been in Dinosaur/CTX from the beginning? I don't remember him being so scary or anything. I do remember him popping out of some trees and taking a picture of me(never thought of dinos having an eye for photography) and then again at the end right before returning to the present.

And maintence.
And expansions (What I mean is AK and Epcot haven't gotten anything over the last few years, but yet MK and DHS are getting treated. By now, the two Universal parks ended up with something).
And express pass.

lots of other things.

yes they do have a lot and who cares about the express pass. there parks cost more and they charge you extra for a pass that doesnt necessarily gaurantee and very quick line on the ride.....the disney fast pass(free) is just as good. and that was created before the express pass at universal. like i said...always a step behind

Universal's express pass is nice...and you do get through the lines alot quicker. If i recall correctly, originally the express was free at Universal too, but it operated exactly like Disney's Fastpass, and because of that Disney brought a suit against them claiming copyright infringement or something and that's why Uni changed it up and turned it into an upcharge to differenciate it.

The parks do not cost more either. The tickt prices to all 7 theme parks in Orlando are exactly the same.

about time. just wondering though, everest has been open for 5 years now, and i remember riding it when the yeti was working. the last 3 times we've gone it hasnt been. exactly how long has it been down?

4 years or so since he was first noticed static.

He certainly didn`t move in September 2007, July 2008, September and December 2009 nor August/September 2010.
