Yet another August 12-22 trip report.

So, the last couple of days I've been debating on whether or not I was up for the challenge of completing an entire trip report. Well, I've decided I'm going to give it a shot.

On this trip was my mom, dad, brother (14), sister(9), and then there was myself (21)

We stayed for 10 days at the Beach Club. The Beach Club is one of my favourite places, we have stayed here our past 4 visits. New to this trip was that we got the length of stay pass and the dining plan. I found both to be great calls, although now my stomach is so used to eating a ton of food that it's hard being back home.

So, stay tuned for day 1, there will be pictures! I hope i do not disappoint!

Your trip report is fun to read - I love when people put in little personal details, it makes them really interesting! Love the pics of the food too, kind of making me hungry, though!:slurp:

Goodness, thank you!

Day 5 part 2

After our swim we went back to the room to get ready for the Pirate and Princess Party. I had painted all of us Pirates of the Caribbean shirts to wear and it was finally time to wear them (pictures of the shirts are floating around on this website somewhere).

We made it to Magic Kingdom around 4:30. We were pretty early. We had a 5:20 reservation at the Crystal Palace and decided to just take our time down Main Street. Now, we entered the park with our Pirate and Princess tickets. This was so confusing to me. I thought you needed park admission to get into the party? Anyways, we got our wristbands and our treasure bags and headed off into the park.
pandpparty.jpg

I love the stores on Main Street. Oh, I forgot to mention that the previous day at MGM I got my first pair of mouse ears since i was about 4 years old. They're the brown pirate ones, pretty awesome.

After a long time on Main Street and waiting on that porch of the Crystal Palace, we were finally sitting down to dinner. This was our first time at the Crystal Palace and it was pretty fun. I was addicted to the salad bars at the buffet dinners, they're just so good!

food.jpg

Now, I will take this time to say Winnie the Pooh was so good here. He kept doing awesome dance numbers.. well, naturally, when he came to our table i got up and danced as well. I can't resist a dance number.

After dinner we headed over to Frontierland. We somehow found ourselves in front of a Pocahontas themed backdrop on our way over there. I don't know if she was doing pictures there later or what, but we had fun in front of it. This was my favourite picture..
wind.jpg

We headed over to Splash Mountain, it had a 40 minute wait. The guy at the front of the line told us not to waste our time in it. He said that as soon as the party started the line time would drop dramatically. We took his advice and headed over to Tomorrowland.

Tomorrowland was great. We got in line for Space Mountain and all got on together without waiting very long at all. It hurt my dad's back like it always does. Anyways, the party was very close to starting now. You could see monster lines forming for the treasure stops, but as soon as they opened them they moved really fast.

We got in line for Astro Orbiter, well, there wasn't really a line. So, we waited for the Astro Orbiter elevator. Anyways, there was a dance party going on at the same time.. which was great. As i said before, I can't resist a dance number. When we got to the top my sister got to say "3, 2, 1 Blast off!" to all the people on the ride.

After we got off the ride, we started our treasure hunting. My mom absolutely loved this. She was pleasently surprised that the chocolates weren't cheap coins.

We did the Indy Speedway after the rest of Tomorrowland. I am so bad at this, but that just makes it hilarious. Then it was off to Fantasyland for more treasure hunting. We also made a quick stop at the Sebastian and Flounder dance party. Now it was almost time for fireworks, we couldn't go directly around the castle to get to Main Street either, so we had to go back the way we came.

I'll post from fireworks on in a minute. My internet likes to cut out, and once i write a lot I'm always afraid of losing it.

Day 5, section 3.

We found a really nice spot for the fireworks. Since the party wasn't very busy, finding a good spot was pretty simple. It was around 9:15 when we arrived in our spot and just sat on the ground and waited.

9:30 rolled around and the fireworks began. Magic, Music and Mayhem is absolutely incredible. My mom took lots of great pictures, I hate bangs so i stood with plugged ears. I have to give the credit where it's due.

mayhem.jpg

mayhem2.jpg

and finally this last one is my favourite.
mayhem3.jpg

Seriously, these are the best fireworks I have ever seen. The music was awesome too. Wow pretty much sums up the whole show.

When this ended we headed in the direction of Adventureland, commenting the whole time on how great the fireworks were. Well, in Adventureland we came across the meet Jack Sparrow sign so we can bet that's what I lined up for. The cast member at the entrance said it was a 45 minute wait, but we did it anyways. I told my family that if they wanted to do other things, I would wait alone and meet them later, but nope! We all waited together. We got there at 9:50 and were at the front of the line by 10:05! it was only 15 minutes long! The woman ushering people into the jack sparrow room asked how long we'd waited, we told her 15 minutes. She went on to tell us that at the beginning of the party it was 2 hours long!! Can you believe that?? I'd be kicking myself if I'd wasted 2 hours of the party, especially if later it was down to 15!

jacksparrow.jpg

ARRR

After this we hit up a few more treasure spots and headed over to Pirates. On the way over to Pirates we ran into one of those crazy Aladdin camels walking around. She was quite a skimpy dresser, if i do say so myself.

We walked right onto Pirates and ended up with our own boat! That was fun, still love that Davy Jones effect.

It was now time to head over to Frontierland yet again. On our way, we were trapped beside Pecos Bill's because the parade had started. We got to see a good amount of it without planning to watch it at all.

Once in Frontierland, we discovered that the 40 minute Splash Mountain wait was now walk right on. This was awesome. They fixed Splash Mountain a bit though, it now gets you extremely wet! I love those water cannons as much as the next person, but my do they ever work. It's all fun and games until you're freezing on the bus ride home.

Anyways, after multiple rides on Splash and Thunder Mountain, it was time to start heading out.
skull.jpg

I loved those projections. On the way out we waited an hour in Expo Hall to get our 3 photopass pictures for $20 deal they were having that night. We got 3 of the Jack Sparrow ones. My mom, brother, and sister left because they were tired... which thinking about it now is pretty unfair since it's my dad and I who were up at 6:30! Oh well, I guess we now know who the real troopers are.

The pirate and princess night was my favourite night of the entire trip. We've never been able to go to any of the special Magic Kingdom parties before, so i was extremely excited when they scheduled Pirate and Princess in August. I realllllllly hope it'll be there again next time we go!

I thought I would just note that I, too, was in line for SM on the 15th when it broke down and I got some pictures that look just like yours. :)

We must have been sooo close to one another!

Oh I believe it.

Don't you find you see the same people repeatedly when you're in disney world? It's weird.

Okay, so let's get started. Day 1.

We woke up at around 4am on the 11th to load the van and prepare for our 21 hour drive from Burlington, Ontario to Orlando. This day is hard, we wake up so excited because we're on our way.. but we all know we still won't arrive in Disney World until the following day.

We arrived at the border around 8, after stopping at the duty free shop, of course. We waited to get across the border for about 20 minutes. After the wait we were officially on our way!

Nothing worth noting happened until...
westvirginiasign.jpg

where we stopped...
bridge.jpg

at this bridge!!

My dad has wanted to stop here every time we've passed it on our way down to Florida, but we never have. Well, we had a bet which i don't even really recall, but he won and this was his prize. It actually ended up being pretty neat... it is huge!

So, after the exciting bridge stop, we drove and drove some more. We made it to Rockhill, South Carolina and called it a night. This was one of the worst night's sleeps ever... if you could call it a sleep. I don't know if anyone really did.

Right on, we're well on our way. Can't you feel the anticipation? I sure can. More soon!

Just thought I'd comment on your West Virginia pics since thats where I'm from!!! Not sure if you noticed since your last trip through WV but the welcome signs used to say "Wild and Wonderful" I have no idea who's bright idea it was to put "Open for buisness on them"!!! :hurl: :hurl:

I'm glad you guys liked seeing the New River Gorge bridge, it is amazing to see in person and take in just how big it is!!!! They have a festival every fall on the bridge where they shut half of it down and they have bungee jumpers and sky divers going off the bridge all day. Pretty neat and scary to see.

Keep the trip report coming, I love reading it since it helps me with my Disney withdraw!! :)

Day 6!

This was the first day that I got to take it a bit slower. I think we all woke up at around 10:30ish, which was really nice. We got ready and headed down to catch the bus to Downtown Disney.

I love the Marketplace side of Downtown Disney so much. We went to my favourite store there when we first arrived, The Art of Disney Store. I love looking at all the paintings.

We didn't make many stops before lunch. We ate at the Earl of Sandwich, which was really good. I have a picture of the food!

sandwiches.jpg

After lunch we went into Once Upon a Toy. My mom and I fell in love with the Mr.Potato Heads on our last trip down... and we went a little crazy for them this time. I had bought one for my mom for her birthday last time we went, the idea was that I'd do the same thing again but she could pick the pieces and fit them into the box. Well, after we filled half our box we noticed the "fill a case for 49.95" and I was all "oooh, I wonder what a case is". Well, a cast member overheard and pointed out the giant Mr.potato head shaped tubs..... So we splurged a bit. Well, we split the cost, so it wasn't too bad.

After a really long time strategically places potato head pieces in a tub, we headed over to the pin store. We know nothing about pins, the only ones we owned came on a hat my dad bought aaaages ago. The bag a brought down with me came with an eagle pin on it, I never liked this pin much, so i bought one to replace it. I got the pirate mickey hat pin. My brother bought the Mickey-shaped Canada flag and wore it around on his shirt for the rest of the trip.

Anyways, we finally made it to the World of Disney store. We took some pictures outside first before entering.
skeleton.jpg

On the way into the store, the pin fell off my bag... this began the quest for locking pin backs. Anyways, due to this store's crazy size, we planned to meet up outside under the big Stitch when we were finished our shopping. Getting split up in this store is inevitable... it happened within minutes.

Now we were running kind of late. My brother, sister and I had 5 o'clock reservations at Chef Mickey's on this night. So we stopped at Goofy's Candy Co. on the way out and got some Goofy glaciers. Then we hopped onto the bus and headed back to the hotel!

I just found your thread and read it all the way through.
I love the pics and now I am thinking that I want to book a Pirate and Princess Party when I go. I guess I just assumed it was for small children but it looks really cool and lots of fun.

Day 6 continued.

We arrived back at the Beach Club and my siblings and I pretty much immediately headed over to Epcot. My parents had their anniversary dinner that night at the Flying Fish, so I took the siblings to Chef Mickey's.

Alright, our original plan was to leave at around 3 and take our time through Epcot on the way to the monorail. Well, now it was something like quarter to 5 so we were rushing. I realize that i put 5 o'clock reservations in my last post when they were actually 5:30. I'll have to go back and change that.

Anyways, we literally ran through all those Leave a Legacy rocks because we saw our monorail arrive. There was a bit of congestion at the exit, and a cast member farther away called us over to their exit because there was no one there. We yelled our thanks and booked it to the monorail. We made it on the monorail and it, of course, ended up sitting there for quite a long time.

I was stressing out because we had no watch or any idea what time it was. Well, the ride to the TTC was surprisingly short considering how the long the bus ride to the Magic Kingdom always feels. This was the moment that I realized it was the express monorail to the Magic Kingdom that headed in the Contemporary's direction and we'd have to make every single stop along the way. Well, somehow we made it to Chef Mickey's at......... 5:22!! Amazing. Out of breath, we sat with our little light up beeper and waited for our table.

We got one of the booth tables that sits directly underneath the monorail track, which was kind of sad because seeing the monorails would've been kind of cool. So, we ordered our drinks and started to get our food. I, of course, went straight for that salad bar!!
chefmickey.jpg

My sister joined me at the salad bar, but my brother wanted none of it! He was going straight for the hot food.
pasta.jpg

The characters made their rounds much quicker here than the Crystal Palace. We got to see each of them easily, and a couple of them twice.

donald.jpg

Dinner here was so much fun. I hadn't been to Chef Mickey's since it was located in the Disney Marketplace. The siblings quit eating the dinner food because the dessert bar was just too promising.
icecreambar.jpg

After dinner, our plan was to go to the Magic Kingdom. Before heading out though, I wanted to find an ATM machine. All I have to say is how many lobbies does one hotel really need? I kept getting "the ATM is on the lobby downstairs". Anyways, we finally found it on the ground level and headed outside after using it. We found this..

contemporary.jpg

I'd seen many pictures of it before so it was cool to kind of stumble upon it. Now we were on the ground level, we decided to walk to the Magic Kingdom. You'd think the walk would've been bigger than it is... or at least, I did. Once you cross the parking lot of the Contemporary, you're pretty much at the bus stops at the Magic Kingdom.

More about our night coming soon!

Day 6 continued.

We went into the Magic Kingdom with the plan to stay until around 10, this didn't end up happening. Anyways, we started by going up Main Street and looking in the stores. We were trying to find locking pin backs for my pin so i could wear it on my bag. We went to 3 different places in the Magic Kingdom in search of the pin backs and had no luck.

After Main Street we went over to Tomorrowland. Tomorrowland is my favourite part of the Magic Kingdom, I love the atmosphere of it or something. Anyways, we went into the Laugh Floor again. It once again had a 20 minute wait.. which really just seemed to mean you had to wait for the show that was playing to end. I'll say it again, I really really enjoy the Laugh Floor.

We then went on Buzz, this time my brother rode alone. After Buzz we went on the TTA. While on the TTA we made note of how busy the Magic Kingdom was this night. I assumed it was because the previous night had been Pirate and Princess, and so everyone waited to come out on this day instead. I have no idea what the actual reason was.. on my Key to the Kingdom tour we were told that Thursday is the least busiest day of the week to go, this Thursday did not fit this at all.

We decided after the TTA we'd just head over to Epcot, since it was Extra Magic Hours there and we were going to go there after anyways. So we went back down Main Street, this time visiting the stores on the other side of the street.... checking the Emporium for pin backs as we went.

We stopped at that store that's located kind of outside the Magic Kingdom and bought some soda pops. I also bought my sister 2 jibbitz for her Disney croc. She has one shoe full of disney jibbitz, and one that's full of non-disney jibbitz. We picked out the Old fashioned Mickey, vintage Mickey as I like to call him. As well as the pirate skull and crossbones.

After this we hopped aboard the monorail and made our way over to Epcot. We were SO CLOSE to getting the front seat of the monorail to Epcot. We were the first ones there and my brother asked the man who was working the station if we could have the front... except we'd gone to the wrong side of the station. A family overheard us and beat us to the front. We were really upset and I was extremely angry at this family. Oh well. No big deal, we made it to Epcot a few minutes before Illuminations was going to begin.

There was a huge line for wrist bands in Future World so we decided we'd slowly head over to the International Gateway and get the wrist bands there.

epcot.jpg

ooooh, Spaceship Earth manages to be pretty at night even with the crane beside it. After trying a bunch of tries to take a picture that looked like my brother was carrying Spaceship Earth on his shoulders, we gave up and moved on.

On the way over to the World Showcase I remembered that you could visit Project Tomorrow even though Spaceship Earth was closed. So we decided to make a quick visit and we were the only ones in the room. This was great because it meant that both of my siblings got play both the games with no wait at all. That body building one is pretty cool, I like that you wear 3D glasses and that it's 2 player.
project_tomorrow.jpg

I almost got the Spaceship Earth words perfectly... but they started to disappear as the picture processed.

We ended up being in here for all of Illuminations... this meant we got to be like salmon travelling upstream trying to get to the World Showcase. It was pretty difficult, but we managed.

We went into the World Traveller store before getting our wrist bands. Here I bought my brother the purchasable Year of a Million Dreams ears. At least, I think that's what they represent. They're the ones with all the little lights in the ears.

Anyways, we immediately got our wrist bands from a really nice Canadian Cast member. I'm extremely interested in the international program.

After getting our wrist bands we made our way around the World Showcase. I wanted to look in the Mitsukoshi store in Japan to see if they had Monchichis, so we headed in that direction. Once we made to the store in Japan we ran into my parents!! Isn't it weird how that happens? Seriously! So, my mom had already discovered that they were out of monchichis and they only had tiny ones on key chains. I bought one for my cousin and some hello kitty stuff for another one of my friends. I could have bought so much stuff in this store. I loved the crazy apple and diamond puzzle, and the tiny lucky cats!
ninja.jpg

We visited Germany, Italy and Norway after this.. every single one we would once again run into my parents. So, once we hit Norway and discovered the Maelstrom had closed at 8, we moved on to Test Track. We waited in the standby line for about a half an hour. I was equipped with my Hidden Mickey Guide, so bigger lines weren't too bad.

After Test Track it was already time to head out. We went through Mousegears and I took a few pictures of Spaceship Earth and the Fountain of Nations on the way out.

Day 7 was the worst day of the vacation, so look forward to the biggest rant of this report!

Slacker, great report but I have to say your screen name of Slacker definitely doesn't fit you. Writing your whole trip report, posting photos, making t-shirts...maybe change your name to overachiever! (I mean this in a good way.)

This a great shot!!!

Oh, and back to the bridge in West Virginia - I just realized yesterday that it's on their version of the quarter! Since you're from Canada, I don't know if you know, but the US Mint has been printing 5 different quarters a year with a different state represented on each, in the order they joined the US. The eventual goal is a quarter per state. OK, thread hijack over... :D

Day 7

I didn't write it yesterday because every time I came to do it I couldn't be bothered. It wasn't a fun morning and so it's probably not going to be much fun to write about. Alright, here we go..

Day 7 we had an early reservation at Donald's Breakfastosaurus in the Animal Kingdom. We got up at around 6:30ish. We were all pretty grumpy because we probably didn't get to bed until around 1 o'clock the night before. So, pretty tired we headed down to the bus stop...... this is where it started.

My dad and I had taken an early bus to the Magic Kingdom for our tour, so naturally we assumed that an Animal Kingdom bus would come to take us to our breakfast. We were waiting and talking to another family who also had a reservation at the same restaurant. While we were talking, a woman who they had working at the bus stop came down and started to set up her clip board and things. I'm not sure what the purpose of these cast members was, it seemed as though they helped people find the bus stop they wanted... it's not that hard to find your bus stop, but that's one thing I noticed them doing.

Anyways, she stands there clearly hearing us talk about our reservation with this other family, and say nothing at all. Finally, my mom asks her when the bus might be coming. She says, rather rudely, "the buses don't start coming until an hour before the park opens." To us, this made no sense, we needed to be at the park for 8. Why would Disney let you make the reservation if there was no way to get to it? Answer:they wouldn't. but we'll get to that in a minute.

I ask her if that's the way it is for all the parks and she cuts me off halfway through saying "It's the way it is for the Animal Kingdom". This is what she tells us after this, to get to the parks for early breakfasts you need to take a taxi and the lobby will reimberse us the money we spent on the cab. This all sounded so sketchy to me, but she was the cast member working at the bus stop, I figure she would know.

So we head up to the valet area and request a taxi, one was there and we get in and start heading out to the Animal Kingdom. As we leave, what do we see?? THE ANIMAL KINGDOM BUS. Now, we should've gotten out of the taxi and ran to the bus... but not being able to see the future, we figured we're in the taxi, let's just go.

We finally pull up to the Animal Kingdom Gate thing and no cars are moving. We learn that they don't let taxis into the parking lot before the park opens, so they make us turn around and leave!! We had to go alll the way back to the Beach Club, now we owe the taxi somewhere in the $25 region.

We get out in the lobby and are a little bit angry. We were now where we started and missing our reservation. So, we went up to the concierge and say that we were told they'd reimberse our taxi ride because buses don't run this early. The person working there looked at us like we were crazy.

So, we find one of the manager types that wear the suits in the lobby. Now the ranting stops. The Beach Club handled this really well. The gentleman in the suit got us our money back, made sure we'd still get our breakfast, and arranged for us to be escorted to the Animal Kingdom. We were driven there by one of the concierge employees, she was really great too. She parked in the parking lot and walked us up to the front of the park making absolutely sure that we'd still get our reservation.

This whole thing was just so angering, and it was all caused by the woman who was working at the bus stop. It's alright though. We made it to our breakfast around 8:30ish and got into the restaurant pretty quickly.

More in a minute!

More from Day 7.

The breakfast ended up being only alright. I don't think we would do it again. We definitely wouldn't do it after a late night.

While we were eating, I wanted to know how much longer until the park opened. My dad informed me it was 9:10 and the park had already been open for ten minutes. We wanted an early reservation so we'd be closer to Everest when the park opened... now the park was open and we weren't done eating. So, I took the park tickets and ran to Everest alone while the family ate. It's really quite close to the restaurant, so the run wasn't too bad. I did actually run, and while running other people around me would start running too! I got us Fastpasses for something like 10:10-11:10 and walked briskly back to the restaurant... I was too tired to run again.

I made it just as Mickey left our table. I made a noooo kind of gesture and the cast member escorting Mickey held him back for one more picture. While we set up for that picture, Goofy and Pluto showed up at the table. We ended up with a great picture with all three characters at the same time. Sadly, it was taken on my mom's disposable cameras, so I don't have the picture on the computer.

After breakfast we headed over to Everest. We got there too early for our fastpasses, so we went into the 30 minutes stand by line. The standby was pretty painless and we got on fairly quickly. This was our first time on Everest and I was excited! Because there were 5 of us, I got to sit beside an extremely excited man who nearly punched me in the head about 3 times in the duration of the ride.

When we were done, we got right back on again with our fastpasses. This time I went with my mom and made my brother ride alone. He got to sit by himself so he didn't mind at all. This time it was much more enjoyable for me. Still.... now, I don't want to make anyone respect me less... but i just did not find Everest as awesome as I thought I would. In fact, of the new things we did this trip, the Laugh Floor ranks higher for me than Everest did!! I'm sorry!! haha, anyways. My biggest regret of the trip was not purchasing the picture of my mom and I on the ride. Her face in that picture was Hilarious!! I didn't know eyes could pop that far out of a person's head.

Anyways, here's some Everest photos. This is my sister with the mountain.

aaand just Everest.
