Yes, another monorail thread!

Let me make clear that I'm not saying this will happen or that Disney has decided to green light it. What I'm saying is that there are plans, buried footers, etc. already in place - just in case they ever decide to go through with it. The new automated systems (which they already said they will upgrade to) reduces cost dramatically (to the point where it's cheaper to operate than buses). Naturally, any frugal company with enough capital would elect to extend it.
I have a very hard time believe that footers lost in Florida swamps for 30 years are at all suitable for use without significant investment.

Well, if you can believe that the only reason there wasn't a nuclear power plant at WDW was Walt's passing....

Can you stick with the program please. We are talking about monorail not nuclear power plants.

No, we're talking about one's obsession with monorails and the incessant need to try and link every tidbit of information into a never-ending loop of supposition and innuendo, passing it off as fact.

Just like the possibility of a nuclear power plant at WDW. I'm sure it would have gone through had Walt not died. I have no doubt plans exist......

It really would not have made sense for them to pour a bunch of footings below the ground only, and not pour the piers (or pylons) that extend above the ground to support the beams at the same time. The reinforcing bars for the piers would have had to be poured into the footings. Either they then poured the piers or left the rebar sticking up in the air...which would not have made sense unless they literally cancelled the DTD route mid-way through construction. So my guess is there aren't a bunch of completely buried footings out there waiting to be used. I could be wrong, of course.

But they don't exist within the scope of Walt Disney World in its current form. And it's ridiculous to think it will ever exist. Monorail on the other hand not so ridiculous.

That all depends on the source, now doesn't it?

Hmm... Logical.

..and yet people won't just let these attempts die in obscurity... :(

I understand your argument. Do we REALLY have to go down the road of debating nuclear power plants to make a point about monorails? I know where you would like it to lead to. I could cooperate and go along with you down that road, but I'll save you a lot of time and tell you that I will make a pretty good case against nuclear power at WDW versus a solid case for automated fixed guideway transit.

Let me also clarify something else. I don't care if its monorail. In fact, I would prefer monorail the least over other forms of automated fixed guideway transit. People movers and PRT are most preferable.

I just want to see less buses. Electric trollies are preferable to buses but not as preferable as automated fixed guideway. Light rail is preferable over trolly.

But when you keep kicking it long after the point was made.. then it only feeds 'em. There is nothing left to prove.. only risk being sucked in and feeding the monster.

This is a self-feeding entity, to say the least. Not that I don't get where you're coming from though....
